  • No way Miles getting 20 next year in the league with us , major source of his supply and freedom is going .

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi brought his 'baller' skills to Charlton and improved as the season went on as he adapted to men's football.
After watching Palace yesterday on TV, Palace have an abundance of flair players in attacking positions but IF Wilf Zaha moves on they could use him off the bench BUT Jes-Rak-Sac needs at least a half season in the Championship to see if he can play against better than mediocre League 1 defenders.

He had his quiet games as well but flair players normally do when they are given licence to thrill and will lose the ball;sublime when it comes off and the difference between Charlton possibly finishing 10th instead of 17th.

How do we replace his 15 goals and 9 assists ? (Yes I know one game to go)

  • Since the turn of the year, he has been different gravy.

  • Dobbo, who is not really that active on social media usually, putting in the work for us 😂.

Did George think there was more games still at the Valley this season or did he think JRS was coming back next season !
  • He won Player of the Year
  • Well done JRS. Well deserved award.
  • Quite how he’s replaced is a massive issue for us. I’d be amazed if we find another loan kid who comes anywhere close. Buying 15 goals will cost more than we’ll be willing to pay. Just pray that Miles hangs around because he’ll score twenty next season in league one. Good luck Jesurun. You did us and yourself proud.
This is the problem. We’re currently a decidedly mid-table L1 team over the course of a season. Take JRS and probably Leaburn out and we are potential relegation candidates. To even get back to mid-table we need to be able to identify another couple of players who can contribute circa 30 goals and double figures assists between them. Given the success rate of our recruitment recently I’m not sure I have much faith that we’ll be able to do it.

CBT and TC will get more games and do the same though given the way JRS has developed over the course of this season, if Deano does get backing to bring in the right players to make a promotion push then another season at the Valley would probably be the best place for him because he won’t need to waste time settling in and proving himself. He has parts of his game that need working on and that’s better done in an environment he is already familiar with

No way CBT will stay fit all season. Although he had a dip in form mid season JRS has stayed fit and available for selection.
  • I think Palace will have him in the first team squad for pre-season and make a late decision. I suspect he will go out on loan and there are lots of things for them to consider. Given his age, I think it is possible, though not the most likely outcome, that they might loan him back to us and review in January.

There is probably a greater chance of him going backwards at a Championship club than us where he seems to be very comfortable and closer to home. But clearly, the Championship is a bigger stepping stone. Their job is to do what is best for the player, not other clubs but I think, whilst it might not win out, there is a case for him staying.
  • If Millwall don't go up this season it wouldn't surprise me to see him there next season on loan.

I just hope his talent doesn't get wasted. He's done really well this season and got to play regularly - seems to have a good attitude.

Needs to continue his development and not to be sat on the bench.
  • We and Palace should recall that there was a spell in his loan where he went a bit flat. He got it back and some of course. In the Championship, that might be where you drop out of the team.

I think the career of numerous players has stalled when they don't play regularly. JRS has learnt a lot at Charlton out of the spotlight...
  • CBT could learn a lot from JRS. Especially how to place a finish into the corner without trying to break your laces.

    Good God I hope not.

Whatever happens he has my gratitude. Without him we may well have been in a desperate relegation struggle.

  • I miss him already…☹️
  • Ipswich and Luton linked, the latter only if they aren't promoted to the Prem.
  • He's so talented, and he worked very hard for us, even when the team around him was shit. I wouldn't have blamed Palace for recalling him in January, just as I didn't blame Chelsea for recalling Gallagher because both were much better than the players they were playing around at time. But Jez stayed, and won a place in our hearts.

He worked very hard, even when things weren't going his way and teams were doubling and tripling up on him.

I just wish we'd had a better team around him to fully utilize his talents this season.

I think he ends up staying with Palace next season and is used as an impact sub. I don't know that he's fully ready for the Prem, but I think he's close enough that he'll be given a few changes for the final 20 minutes against tiring defenses.
  • Very talented footballer and I'm excited to see how his career develops. Made this season more entertaining and I believe we would have realistically been floating with relegation more so than we were without him. Reading that interview he also seems to be a very humble and genuine person. As others have also mentioned, (begrudgingly) fair play to Palace for not recalling in Jan.

People should have listened to Curbs on this. Many times he said it would be daft to recall him because he hasn't had to uproot to join us, he's playing every week, and clearly enjoying it, while making the transition to adult football, and while still having a lot to learn -and he did learn. So why move him and to where? While I'm glad Palace didn't recall him, Curbs analysis demonstrates that in fact, Gallagher being recalled was an outlier, a move that didn't make football sense to anyone. It reinforces my belief in the story I heard that Gallagher's agent ( a youngish guy, who later committed suicide) engineered that move with someone in Chelsea's commercial management. It's rare to see big FAPL clubs yank their starlets out of a club in January where they are clearly getting game time and rapidly progressing, as both Gallagher and JRS did with us (and as did Cullen, Bielik, Maatsen and daSilva, which Curbs also goes on about)

Isn’t it sometimes beneficial for development/growing up to take the player out of his comfort zone a bit? Moving away from home, testing themselves in a different environment.

Maybe not with Rak-Sakyi but I can 100% see the logic for recalling Gallagher. We were a mess at the time, losing every game and not playing good football which can’t be good for his development. He was our best player by a mile and had probably learnt/developed all he could from us. Swansea played a different style, having a lot more of the ball which probably better translates to the way Chelsea were playing at the time
