  • Cambridge have set up well to stop us passing through the thirds. However, the diagonal passes from Clare are causing them problems.

We’re having to play in our own third, and we’re asking a lot of Innis. He always makes me nervous on the ball. Clearly a tactic from Cambridge to force us to play through him. We’ve had to ride our luck a couple of times. There’s definitely a goal in this for Cambridge if we continue to take those risks.

Still, lots to be happy about, and I’d love to see CBT come on with 30 to go.

I refuse to believe there isn't a better striking option available out there than Stockley
This team would be top quality with a good striker who fits the system.

Fraser having good game and looks to have a few goals about him which we are desperate for. Thought dobson wasn't great 1st half. Raki Saki looks a menace. Claydon excellent.

So everyone who shone on Tuesday are stuttering so far. Except Fraser. He's looked tidy on the ball and Charles Clayden.

Clayden is more playing left midfield with Kirk left wing - fine. However this means Morgan is constantly having to drop into left back.
Yeah its a very interesting partnership between Kirk and Clayden

Wonder if that's how Kirk played with Pickering at Crewe - Only worry is that it leaves Cambridge a bit of space to exploit, as shown when Tracey (?) got forward early doors.
I'd hope that if Clayden is getting forward with Kirk, one of the centre-backs would slide over to cover with the centre-half-back, Dobbo, ready to drop back into the backline if required, without having to compromise Albie's position in the middle third of the pitch.
  • That looked offside
Not sure why you got the lols for that!.

    Fraser looks offside to me
  • Promising half and we move the ball really well. Thought we were being to look frustrated just before the goal.

I do wish Stockley had a bit more composure in front of goal, two or three chances in that half I thought he snatched at, including the eventual goal. JRS causing them issues but needs to work on his decision making a little still IMO.

Hope Dobson can make it through at least most of the 2nd half
  • Very encouraged by that first half. They came to park the bus and we had to be patient. Could’ve maybe moved the ball a touch quicker at times but we probed well and were willing to be a bit more direct when the opportunities arose. By doing that (great ball to Kirk by Dobson) we created the one big chance that got us in front.

After that Cambridge started to press us more which is great because as long as we continue to play around it without any cock-ups spaces are going to open up.
  • Lisbie, aiming for the crossbar to win everyone in the ground a beer...lands it at the six yard box.

I don’t get the negativity towards Stockley. He was outstanding on Tuesday and has had a good half so far.
  • I need help.

    Urgently.

I've just found myself agreeing with one of Golfie's matchday posts ...
Couldn't bring yourself to give him a like though.
  • JRS needs to learn when to take on another player or when to pass instead, wants to beat too many players when it's not needed. Plus, imo, he could take up better positions when we have the ball and make himself an option for the player with the ball.

Noticeable how everything is going through Fraser.

I think the concern is there are a few old fashioned views towards Strikers on here.

His job is to score goals, not get assists etc. - Regardless if we're winning

The fear is understandable, because your Strikers are the ones you should be able to consistency rely on to find the net, if the rest of the team fail in front of the net it doesnt matter so much.

I mean Milton Keynes ended 3rd last season with Twine scoring 20-goals (not a Striker), their best Striker got 12.

I think he is slow and labour's about personally. No confidence in his shooting with his feet. This is an exciting team to watch so not going to focus on the negative for me

Relax its the heat, take a few deep breaths and you soon'll be thinking what "total bollocks" again.

Peterborough 4-0 up. 2 each for Marriott and Clarke-Harris. If those 2 stay fit they'll be tough to beat for promotion.

Two openings this half, both end offside, lazy play in both instances, need to keep switched on to the play,
  • Inniss just elbowed him 100%
  • I think that the goals will come for Stockley, two goals we have scored have come from rebounds when his efforts were saved. Once he gets off the mark I think he'll hit a bit of a streak honestly.

The fear is that he's our main target main up top who today has struggled both in the air and with ball at his feet. It's not old fashioned to expect to be offering more than he is today

Only took a game and a half for people to start moaning about this.
  • I worry about us tiring in the second half. Expect JRS to be the first one substituted as he had looked quite leggy (understandably). But we've looked like we've had a little less movement off the ball early in this half. It makes keeping the ball and playing simple all the more important. "Rest with the ball" so to speak.
  • Inniss just elbowed him 100%
Sounds like Commentary agree with you
  • We have some decent ball players on the bench if players tire.
