Wouldn't say never but usually, if a team has allowed the game to run that deep, there won't be the better or established batsmen at the crease. The game should have been won earlier but, that said, the final over from Evans was superb.
Wonder what the weather forecast is for tomorrow's match.
About 13 degrees with a 40% chance of rain!
Ridiculous time of year to play this tournament, they should fly the England and Australian players over, and play the game at Lord's tomorrow, where the weather will be better
A bizarre set of circumstances for Nawaz. He cost Pakistan the Indian game with that woeful final over and his "reward" was not to bowl a single bowl in this game by virtue of Pakistan playing the extra bowler. Then he had the opportunity to go from zero to hero with the bat but got out off the penultimate ball of the match. Nawaz actually had the best strike rate of any of the Pakistan players but I'm sure that won't help how he is feeling right now though.
Special effort from Evans though. Came into the side today and given the responsibility of bowling that final over, having gone for 7 off his first two balls, he managed to concede just 2 off his final 4 balls to return figures of 4-0-25-2. His father, Craig, who also played for Zimbabwe, would, I'm sure, be extremely proud tonight.
When all is said and done though, this really was a shocking capitulation by Pakistan. They required 43 runs off 45 balls with 7 wickets in hand. They made the Zimbabwe bowling attack look unplayable. And that is quite an achievement. But we know that they will come out and beat South Africa. Frustration and brilliance in equal measure.
Earlier game between Afghanistan and Ireland delayed by rain and England v Aus at same ground in Melbourne forecast I’ve just looked at looks crap
dont know if that’s good bad or ugly for our progression
Was wondering the same. Would a point from an abandoned game actually be good for us? It'd keep us above Australia on NRR so surely would be worse for them?
Hopefully the weather improves though and we can get some play and a result.

Yeah it’s worse for Australia as you’d expect two wins for England and puts them out. Although if we lost to NZ we’re out when we could still have been through had we won today
What a joke, seems to happen far too often with cricket and the weather spoiling it. Shame they don't add in a spot for a catch up in the event of it, or something as a back up in the event of a rain abandoned match.
The Aussies will be confident of progressing with two games they'll look at on paper and have high NRR victories. Largely dependent on the ENG/NZ game- a close game even if they lose will benefit them considering they have the easy victory vs Oz in the bank England do play last so if we can beat NZ we will know all the likely permutations

England going to have to win three from three against Aus, NZ and SL to make it to the next stage, you’d think.
Whoever loses at the MCG tomorrow has a mountain to climb.
Zip it AA, you don't match-fix to lose by 1 run

This is becoming a farce
11.46am is the cut off for a 5 over a side game.
We need to win our last 2 games to have a chance of qualifying, unless there are other games are called off.
We play NZ and SL.
SL play NZ, Afghanistan, England
Australia play Ireland and Afghanistan
Ireland play Australia and NZ.
