On a separate note: I know the trains are (apparently) running, but I have a couple of spare seats in the back of the car if anyone wants a free ride from Medway
I’m afraid our fans who weren’t attending due to the train strikes, and now not attending due to a different timetable, sadly get car sick :-)
It’s Saturday, it’s Matchday. The South Eastern sun is rising beautifully across the River Thames and the vista this morning from the Thamesmead marsh lands is really quite spectacular.
Charlton commence their road to Wembley this afternoon. When we are on our European tour next season, we’ll be talking fondly about the starting step of Coalville. They’ll be making DVDs of this.
COME ON YOU RIP ROARING, GOAL SCORING, CUP EXPLORING ADDICKS!
Does anybody use ESPN+? It has Charlton v Coalville Live in its schedule on the co.uk site, but can that be right? Do they the broadcast rights? If so, may subscribe/pay as can’t be at the Valley today

I’d be shocked if ESPN+ is available in the U.K. - ESPN+ regularly shows a 3pm kick off in the Championship which would contradict the blackout rules.
I feel sorry for Coalville. Of all the teams they could have drawn from League one, they have to get Charlton. A club whose supporters have no interest in this match, playing in a near empty stadium and what should be a nice payday for them, after expenses, they’re probably gonna end up with £3 2s 6d.
In my circle of friends, I have a Leicester supporter from Coalville. He’s managed to rally my group and they’re going out on the P today. Me .. I don’t drink these days and, thanks to Mr T Sandgaard, I can’t be arsed to go today.
Good luck Coalville. I wouldn’t begrudge you a win today and something better in the next round
I always enjoy these cup games but forgot about the first round date and booked a weekend away. I hope we put out a reasonably strong team, as Coalville will be no pushovers.
Apart from the town’s coal heritage, it is also the home of Action Man. To quote Wiki:
”Action Man was originally produced and sold in the United Kingdom and Australia by Palitoy Ltd of Coalville, Leicestershirefrom 1966 until 1984. Palitoy also offered sub-licences to toy manufacturers in other markets.”
Coincidentally, during a much needed clear out of one of my son’s room prior to redecorating, I found my old Action Man from the 60s in the bottom of a cupboard and, with a tinge of sadness, binned him. It may be some kind of omen (although probably not).

Well not according to the Southeastern site.
It would make me feel better if I watch from home.
Lower west and lower Covered end i think.
We need to fully respect Coalville and understand this will likely be an embarrassing 90mins
It is cup magic...the kind of cup magic we don't prevail in and we usually get a battering.
We need to snatch the cup magic wand, snap it in half and flush it down the toilet.
I hope we press up very high on the pitch. I hope we respect Coalville and welcome them to professional football with pure brutal honesty.
Do not be nice
I will definitely be watching it in the US.
