Peter Varney asking for big crowd for Brighton match (Potential Buyers?)

I agree with you, except it's an EFL cup tie1

i think this game has the potential for real fireworks - it will likely be a huge embarrassment and that embarrassment will turn to anger and the Sandgards will be on the receiving end of that10

Bought a ticket for this, not because Varney asked me to, but because I can't watch it on a stream. I have zero interest in going to Live games at the moment. Travelling, sitting in the cold bored shitless watching a team I have zero affliation with has no draw at all.If the weather is shit my ticket will probably go unused.0

As Ive said before:
'I don't think potential buyers worry too much about our current crowds, I think anyone with common sense would understand that they're a symptom of years of mismanagement and awful football. What they see is a former premier league club in London, with an EPL ready stadium, both of those are huge selling points and a major advantage over most other clubs a potential suitor might look at. We are viewed as a project that could be built into an EPL mainstay, with all the money making potential that brings.
If the risk of a small crowd was critical to the interest of a buyer, then they wouldn't have been interested in the first place, especially with how things have gone this season with attendance.'
If you really wanted to show an prospective owner the potential of CAFC crowds, just show them the DVD of the 2019 L1 play off final.14 - Sponsored links:

I fear this forum may only get renamed "Life" within the next 1-5 years. (Obviously that won't happen but you might know what I'm trying to suggest)
Feels like charltons very slowly on its way to a location above the clouds and its way too early, awful and doesn't make sense.
I love my Charlton but wish I could restore my old obsession for what was actually happening on the pitch. I don't know where that's gone.
I might just blame the EFL 🤔4 -

The sales distribution is different from a league game because of the flat price so for example ESG is pretty empty, but the popular blocks are much busier than usual, which is the point.
Obviously the team’s abject form and the general situation is not helping. Maybe some won’t turn up, although with cup games that’s unusual. I still think you will find The Valley much fuller on Wednesday than at league games - probably any league game this season. Is it the clincher in a takeover deal? Probably not. Does PV have a better idea of how it can impact the perception of potential buyers he is involved with than random posters here? Obviously some think not.15 -

Can't help thinking that, if there was going to be any kind of announcement made, some kind of announcement would have been made to announce that there was going to be an announcement.
My 1000th post. What a waste! 😎

I doubt anything will be announced on the night.2 -
The whole scenario of this game is a laughing stock2

meldrew66 said:With all due respect to those who have bought ŵa ticket for this game based on PV’s cryptic message, I simply can’t see how a half filled ground (compared to quarter filled), an underperforming team, uninspiring performances and a likely but disappointing defeat is going to make any attending potential buyer think that Charlton is the club for them. The atmosphere is going to be tepid at best and hostile at worst - especially after yet another shit-show second half yesterday ending in yet another collapse and home defeat. I genuinely hope I’m wrong but I can’t see anything positive coming from the Brighton match. It is ridiculous to suggest that a good fan showing for an unimportant ‘beige’ cup tie against unattractive opposition who are expected to beat us will - or indeed should - be the deciding factor for a friendly buy-out. A vital league game like the one we capitulated in yesterday would have been the place to see passion and committed fans rallying behind the troops - not bloody Brighton in the ‘couldn’t care less’ cup.1

Ok Macallister is playing well in the world cup but can he do it on a wet Wednesday night in Charlton?13

Who in their right mind is going to buy us3 -
If Varney is OK with it that's fine by me.1
-
As Rick says ' it pulls together a lot of the strands of the story'. Nixon included.
Unfortunately I can see this happening.1 -
