  • 4 days before Xmas, really dont fancy getting stuck in London for hours and/or getting covid so close to the day and not being able to see family.

Weekend game might have swung it in favour of attending.
  • .
    Fair point I suppose... ;)

Can you not get Covid at the weekend?
    Haha, silly sausage
  • Will the w/e game go ahead? Its freezing but I guess we can't afford to run blowers to heat the ground. So maybe that will boost the attendance vs Brighton i.e.  withdrawal symptoms after WC (or in my case escape from the wife choice of Coronation street and EastEnders)
  • I'll get myself a ticket for this time next week. Luckily I have Wednesdays off. If I said I was looking forward to it I'd be lying...but hopefully that mentality changes nearer the date.

I'll purchase it online so it will force me to turn up!

If I told myself to buy it on the day then there's a fair chance I probably wouldn't be able to resist the urge of just doing absolutely nothing that evening.
  • Going with my son and brother but not really expecting anything on the pitch apart from possibly not being thrashed, especially after recent performances which have been nothing short of a disgrace even with the squad issues.

Good on them for trying, but this is the most liberal interpretation of ‘a few’ that I’ve ever read. There must be at least 14000 seats still available.
Probably more like 7,000-8,000 that are on sale - corners and ESA and ESB will take out at least 4,000. Brighton have circa 6,500. Reckon we’ve sold 8,000 plus.

How on earth has this seemed to have developed into a pissing competition?
Because people like to use how often some can attend as a stick to beat them with as not "pwopa charl'un".
Its not that, its about getting annoyed with people who don't really have a good reason not to go yet bang on here all day about what they want the club to be like when the only actual thing you can do to help improve things is to go - although TS has ballsed up, is a bit of an idiot, hasn't appointed people with nouse to run things and seemningly mistreats staff, if the ground had been sold out, particularly at the start of his regime once the ground was open, then i'm pretty sure he'd have invested more in the team - thats the bottom line and a lot of the whingers need to admit it to themselves. The more you don't go, the more a part of the problemn you are - particularly when somebody who is trying ti fix things has asked you to go. Normal caveats apply - distance, money etc.
what about those that don’t go but watch all the live streams on Charlton TV?

You are missing one important point Doucher. Sandgaards transfer policy and the mistakes that he has made were not based on attendance figures, certainly not as far as the transfer window just gone. We are all now becoming aware of his ego and it is that ego that has ultimately led us to where we are. I would also like to point out that your assumption that Sandgaard seemingly mistreats staff is disingenuous to staff who have either been sacked or have seen their positions under threat by a woman who by all accounts on here had no right to take up any position within the club. ' A bit of an idiot' and 'has ballsed up' is putting the club under threat and bringing it to its lowest point in living memory. I would argue that in these troubled times that a crazy pricing policy, a cost of living crisis and transport strikes have not helped attendance figures but even those problems have been dwarfed by Mr Sandgaards incompetence which is clearly having a greater effect on the numbers in attendance at the Valley.

i don't disagree with any of the things you mention that he's got wrong but i also remember us all moaning about the lack of spending in the transfer window before the start of last season - if we had sold (unrealistic maybe) 15 thousand plus season tickets, we may have got a few more top line players in so if you didn't sign up for a season ticket last year (usual caveats apply) you should be taking a look at yourself as well before bleating on about wanting this and that - i want TS gone as well now so don't think i'm defending him, i'm criticising the moaners who can't be arsed to attend the brighton game - its a free world, don't go if you can't be arsed but don't think you have the right to anything better.

Brilliant when I moved 300 (ish) miles away we were in the Premier League.  If I had known what would of happened I wouldn't have done it.  Hindsight.
  • My group have bought our normal S/T seats in the East Stand. Lots of empty seats remaining in our block so not sure the turnout is going to be that decent.
We’re not expecting to see a Charlton win but if our turning up makes any sort of impact then it’s the least we can do.

I see your point but it needs to be judged by the reaction if and when a new owner takes the club on, I think the outside influences have played a part but I think most would be of the opinion that if the Valley had regular crowds of 20000 Sandgaard would probably screw that up too.

So what am I then  ??

I have a ST but wont be going Saturday.....but will pay £10 to watch it on Charlton TV.

Mad ??  Or just want to see my team play but can't be arsed to sit in the cold for 3 hours a week before xmas.
  • Four bought including one for a Palace supporting relative who will be getting behind CAFC vs Brighton. Will be nice to be attending a game with a 15k plus crowd there again, regardless of what happens on the night.

    probably not.

My son now works at the Valley on matchdays so I now have to sit alone. Not done that in my 45+ years of supporting the club.

Also its not great weather & getting there & back is a pain.

Sandgaard has explained how the budget works so it is a reasonable assumption given that, that the extra income from 20k crowds would go in his pocket.
  • What about your big brother? Can't you move seats and sit with him?
  • When someone said 20000 i thought wow thats a decent number, nothing from cafc comms about how the ticket sales are going, oh well i will get ba k to my marketing strategy. I think Peter Varney is an alright bloke. Him and Curbs would be great to have in those Senior roles, both have fans appeal a out them.  :)
