So now it’s ‘too cold’ to go to football … it gets better …golfaddick said:
If it was this week then some fans would have trouble getting there due to the weather conditions, rain strikes & (for me) the freezing fucking temperature.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:This is a good home cup game and Varney’s plea aside, is it really that difficult for people to pay £15 to go to a home cup game? This is a site for football fans right, isn’t that what football fans do ? Why so difficult to attend a reasonably priced home cup game ffs
Next week I believe the temperature is going to rise but probably still be 6°-8° by kick off. No fun sitting out on the open for 2 hours watching us get thrashed.1 -

And one assumes that Mick Collins and Mick Everitt are related on account of having the same name.carly burn said:

He used to work for Varney (and Airman I suspect). Was on the clubs comms team back in I would guess late 90s / early 2000sKiwiValley said:Who is mick collins?
" Airman is Mick Everitt who used to write voice of the Valley and works in the ground."
This club is so complicated!

The only thing i am left unsure about is how Rick Collins fits into things.0

No issues with anyone who doesn't go for whatever reason, it's just the way some wear their non attendance like a badge of honour. It's odd.Covered End said:
I reckon if we had a CL poll on who goes to Charlton games, it would show that a handful go to all/nearly all games and I could likely name many of them.Croydon said:I'll say it again. We have the most bizarre fanbase going
A reasonable number go to most home games and the majority go to some home games and rarely if ever go away.
In fact I reckon a substantial minority possibly never go more than once or twice a season if that.
It is what it is and I'm not digging out the supporters that rarely go and I recognize that many can't go because of distance, family, illness, age etc etc.18 -

Yes, we played southend at home near the end of the season in 2017 and we were midtable going nowhere and southend were battling with the scum for the last play off spot ....Simonsen said:

we beat them 2-1 and they missed out on the play offs by one point to the scum 4 games later ...
scum then win the play offs and are currently in their 6th consecutive season in the Championship when we're all hoping we can survive in League One .
So looking at the bigger picture sometimes wanting us to lose is for the greater good .... although a draw would have sufficed that day3 -
About 5 first team games. Usually a couple of aways too, but I watch almost every game unless it's not shown in any way.ElfsborgAddick said:
Point 2, what mileage from The Valley does it become "not two minutes down the road for most"?Dazzler21 said:Ducktapeshoerepairs said:

It's not about bothering for most there's a myriad of reasons. Here's 5 simple ones.- It's a midweek game during a period that is very busy for most.
- It's not 2 minutes down the road for most.
- It's an expensive time of year
- There's an energy cost crisis meaning many people are having to save on top of the already expensive time of year.
- It's none of your business.
How many games at The Valley do you attend each season btw?
I also attend often when a Charlton 11 (usually made up of U21's) plays at smaller Sussex based clubs.
I'm open about how much I can afford to see Charlton in terms of both time and money. I still respect those not wanting to say why they can't go.
For me, this one game I cannot attend as it's my brother's birthday meal.
Family always comes above football.5 -

How on earth has this seemed to have developed into a pissing competition?12

I've bought 4 for this, travelling up from Hove, lots talking about the game in Brighton & Hove.
Going to Toca Soca @ the O2 before the game, anybody tried this?4 -

Because people like to use how often some can attend as a stick to beat them with as not "pwopa charl'un".ShootersHillGuru said:How on earth has this seemed to have developed into a pissing competition?

Been to Toca Social once, really enjoyed it. It's even funnier if you have at least one person in the group who can't kick or control a ball to save his life.Redhenry said:I've bought 4 for this, travelling up from Hove, lots talking about the game in Brighton & Hove.

Maybe tap up the caretaker (sorry. forgot his name already!!) and see if he can send one of the first team over?covered_end_junior said:

Its not that, its about getting annoyed with people who don't really have a good reason not to go yet bang on here all day about what they want the club to be like when the only actual thing you can do to help improve things is to go - although TS has ballsed up, is a bit of an idiot, hasn't appointed people with nouse to run things and seemningly mistreats staff, if the ground had been sold out, particularly at the start of his regime once the ground was open, then i'm pretty sure he'd have invested more in the team - thats the bottom line and a lot of the whingers need to admit it to themselves. The more you don't go, the more a part of the problemn you are - particularly when somebody who is trying ti fix things has asked you to go. Normal caveats apply - distance, money etc.Dazzler21 said:

There will be another push on Twitter this evening from 6pm using #BackForBrighton.6

Well, a totally straight up statement, I do happen to know one person who will be at the game, but is a mad Spurs supporter...😫.., My brother in law, he happens to be the Brighton first team coach driver, now, if I could persuade him to not turn up....or at least take a "scenic" route to the game...🤔7
