I couldn’t finish ‘From Portacabins to Porto Captains’ it was rambling, predictable, unstructured and unreadable without even a nice turn of phrase from time to time. It read to me like a chancer riding a wave to make a few quid, like it was written by a groupie who would soon move on to the next flavour of the month. I’ve read posts by @Grapevine49 of this parish that are ten times better than a whole book written by Mr Collins.

False dawn after false dawn - we are very luck to even be in business -
I hold zero hope and I hate everyone -
(Turns out the light and leaves)
Pretty much sums up where I am. I'm just about broken by it all and even if a new owner comes in and it all appears to be great and what we want I think the cynicism is so strong in me that it would take a fair while to get my trust back.
Heard recently that the lady who paints kids faces on match (didnt know we had it, i assume its a west stand thing) has stopped as she was asked by club to accept her rates from 2013.
Not the biggest issue in the world but indictive of where we are.

Yep feel similar. I find it hard to believe that a credible owner with honourable intentions would want to buy a struggling debt ridden third division football club, Fees like it’ll be a wrong’un, someone with bugger all money, someone who wants to use the club (like the network thing mentioned) - or all three.
A mega rich Charlton fan (or fans) feels like the only way we make a comeback.
I wonder what is behind Collins's disdain. Don't come across many Charlton fans with a bad word to say about Peter Varney.
Peter was okay but the Messiah he was not. I had a few issues with him back in the day. There were a number of things he could have handled much, much better than he did.
I am getting tired of it all. Varney must have a reason for asking us to attend this game so we just need to block out the noise and indeed doubts and give it a go. In all honesty, I don't enjoy watching my team as it is generally an experience that makes me angry. I'm a Charlton fan, I don't demand too much but what we have had for quite a few years now is not good enough.
I was always going to go way before the Varney shenanigans. And way before the possible takeover shenanigans. Something will happen to make me abandon everything, but I don’t know what and when, but right now that moment is getting closer. I am weary of it all, and have little fight left in me.
Sad to see the apathy is setting in. Keep the faith all. Without the fans there is no Charlton Athletic. Charlton has been going all these years because the club matters, it makes a difference. It isn't the owners club, it belongs to the fans we are the beating heart.
There will be a brighter day, we've been blessed before, we will again. The dark times only make the good times brighter. COYA!
This is a good home cup game and Varney’s plea aside, is it really that difficult for people to pay £15 to go to a home cup game? This is a site for football fans right, isn’t that what football fans do ? Why so difficult to attend a reasonably priced home cup game ffs

Jim Davidson
And people say he just a massive prick
A bloke that just tells jokes and supports Charlton. Not an awful lot wrong with that

Haha. Dolly Parton might help
