If this was either Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool etc, a lot (not all) of those reasons would not suddenly apply. Remember ‘thick and thin’, ‘good times / bad times’ etc, our support is very very fickle and dare I say it, a lot more fickle than many other clubsTodds_right_hook said:
Lots of reasons why a wide spectrum of people may find it difficult to attend.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:This is a good home cup game and Varney’s plea aside, is it really that difficult for people to pay £15 to go to a home cup game? This is a site for football fans right, isn’t that what football fans do ? Why so difficult to attend a reasonably priced home cup game ffs
plus, if we got one of the teams you mentioned, it would be on tv 😂. Watch it home in the warm and turn it off when their 4th goes in.
I wasn't planning on going, then I had second thoughts but now I can't go because of other Christmas related plans. If we had arsenal or Liverpool, I still wouldn't change those plans. Maybe if it was in nov or jan, but not a week before Christmas.I do agree with you to a certain extent, but it's not as black and white as to why people aren't going. A big reason is because the club is a mess and I can see why people are not as fully committed as in times gone by.0 -

Everyone’s different - Exeter away is the football supporting equivalent of solitary confinement - Brighton will be like being gang raped in the showers8

And buying your train tickets early means you are prowpa Charlton….DOUCHER said:Everyone’s different - Exeter away is the football supporting equivalent of solitary confinement - Brighton will be like being gang raped in the showers0 -
Two tickets bought for me and my old man. I'm coming down from Derbyshire. Three tickets being bought for my mate, his brother and his Dad (Brighton fans). They are travelling from Los Angeles and Derbyshire respectively too. I'd like to say coming all the way from LA just for the game, but nobody is THAT stupid!4

I reckon if we had a CL poll on who goes to Charlton games, it would show that a handful go to all/nearly all games and I could likely name many of them.Croydon said:I'll say it again. We have the most bizarre fanbase going
A reasonable number go to most home games and the majority go to some home games and rarely if ever go away.
In fact I reckon a substantial minority possibly never go more than once or twice a season if that.
It is what it is and I'm not digging out the supporters that rarely go and I recognize that many can't go because of distance, family, illness, age etc etc.9 -

Some people I know are worried about putting their heating on. I'm a governor at a school and there are parents who are asking the school for help because they can't afford Christmas presents this year. It's a toss up for some people whether they heat the house or buy stuff for Christmas. On that basis, yes, there are people who wouldn't go because it's arsenal.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:

"sorry love, you will need to put a jumper on tonight, I've spunked the gas money on a ticket in the north upper".
me personally, I wouldn't be fussed about a premiership team in a cup. How many of arsenals star players would play? I would want to see their World Cup stars, not squad players and youngsters.
Theres Irony, a post about being unable to afford heating, followed by an advert for watches at £43,640 or £178,770.2 -
If it was this week then some fans would have trouble getting there due to the weather conditions, rain strikes & (for me) the freezing fucking temperature.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:This is a good home cup game and Varney’s plea aside, is it really that difficult for people to pay £15 to go to a home cup game? Next week I believe the temperature is going to rise but probably still be 6°-8° by kick off. No fun sitting out on the open for 2 hours watching us get thrashed.

It's not about bothering for most there's a myriad of reasons. Here's 5 simple ones.- It's a midweek game during a period that is very busy for most.
- It's not 2 minutes down the road for most.
- It's an expensive time of year
- There's an energy cost crisis meaning many people are having to save on top of the already expensive time of year.
- It's none of your business.

Couldn't agree more. Shouldn't need Varney's plea to get a good crowd for this. Last 16 cup game under the lights against a team doing well in the premier league for £15. Likely to be our biggest game of the season given we are not going to go up/down.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:This is a good home cup game and Varney’s plea aside, is it really that difficult for people to pay £15 to go to a home cup game? Agreed, but maybe us fans should consider less talk of what a special and unique club we are and recognize that Brighton will bring 6,000 fans, when it seems like half the CL posters are opposed to attending, for all sorts of reasons, that don't prevent Brighton fans travelling up from the coast.ElfsborgAddick said:

exactly - get yourselves to the brighton game whether u like it or not or shut the f@@k up would be my advice - if u can't be arsed to do that, why should another rich bloke - as ridiculous as he will probably turn out to be - decide to waste his money on us?Covered End said:
