  • fair play United - they didn't have to give any extra at all. Fully expect us to sell the extra allocation out as well.

Looking back to the night of the draw the amount of people that said in the thread we would barely sell 5k and it would be a total embarrassment for us...
I am happy to admit that I said we would not sell out however I am over the moon we have and will be well supported.

I did read other comments such as mine but cannot recall anybody including myself saying it would be an embarrassment.
Likewise, I thought we would really struggle to sell them. But even if we had ‘only’ managed 4-5k it  would not have been an embarrassment at all, given the recent and current circumstances.

I think it not being on TV has helped a bit and I probably underestimated the generation who have never seen us play there, or anywhere of note.

Cracking support, let hope we at least go down with a fight. The travelling hordes deserve that.
I think this is a big piece of the puzzle.

The last time we played there was in 2007.

For me personally, being 14 y/o at the time, I would’ve probably not been allowed to travel even if I wanted to!

We have a whole generation of adult fans (18-30 ish) who’ve never had the opportunity to go and see our club play at these grounds.
And even for those of us who have gone, it's an eternity since we were last there. And in the PL the away allocations are much smaller, and 20000 ST holders back then made it extra hard to get tickets too.

The last big Cup away games at PL clubs from memory were Fulham and Tottenham (at the old ground), nice grounds but a step down from the glamour of Old Trafford
  • Was Bolton free travel in 99 FA Cup? Think that was 5k?
It was all about the beam back
  • If the tickets don't arrive by post, through the reference number and liasing with the ticket office will probably allow you to pick up copies at Old Trafford. The club have a lot to get out in the post and the post isn't the greatest at the best of times so I would imagine quite a few won't get them.

  • The mobile units will be open from 10.30am to 6pm on Saturday and from 11am to 5pm on Monday.
  • Incredible support. Hold my hands up and say I got it completely wrong thinking we'd shift 5k max. Should know better than to doubt this fanbase!

I think the club have now advised of procedure if tickets not received by 5pm Monday
  • I would like to collect my tickets and coach pass and carpark pass tomorrow or Friday.

I can't face the chaos of Saturday, but if I have to, may I make a suggestion that collection windows have an alphabet notice, as in surnames, A-D here and so on, I would also have a steward monitoring the queues saying A-D this queue, F-K that queue and so on.
It would be possible to head off chaos in advance, but somebody will have to be on it.
What we don't want is a huge scrum, and even worse when getting to the collection point being told to go elsewhere.
I have read the experiences of Brighton fans who queued for an hour only to be sent to another long queue at the Valley.

Where do people with surnames beginning with E go?
They get special treatment from Burger Boy.
  • Just realised I overpaid for my dad’s ticket earlier in a panic and should have bought him a 65+ one instead of a full ticket. Hopefully the club can sort it!

  • Got to be honest ever since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to go old Trafford it’s one of them grounds that has a lot of history, when I was 8 I had a united kit etc then my next door neighbour took me charlton when I was about 11 and I was converted. I cannot wait to get there and see it for a match priced an ac install there 6 months ago and got a stadium tour whilst there.

  • What should I do if my ticket doesn’t arrive in the post?

Supporters who haven’t received their ticket by 5pm on Monday, January 9th, should email tickets@cafc.co.uk to arrange duplicate tickets. Please use the subject line ‘Urgent: Duplicate Man United tickets required’ to ensure that your email is seen in plenty of time. Please also include your booking reference and Fan ID within your email.

Ask him to write you a note.
I had to do similar when getting tobacco for my Dad.

I’m in block 234, apparently this is the view according to the View From My Seat site:

You can check the view from your block here:

Pretty much where we are - Block 234 Row 8
  • I trust that the club will be providing directions of how to get to The Valley, for collections, for those that may have forgotten.
    A 75 bus.....

Great for everyone going!  I was fortunate enough to go up there in 94 and in 98/99, 00/01, 01/02.  I won’t be going this time round as my Son was born on the 18th Dec and all games will take a back seat for a while - including not ticking off Forest Green on Valentine’s night (given that’s a new ground I am more up for that than Old Trafford).

A lot of our younger fans haven’t had this type of opportunity and may not get it again in a while, so I’m particularly pleased for them.  Enjoy it.  There’s something a bit special about experiencing those types of stadiums for the first time.  I remember it well from the Prem days
Now you're talking id rather do forest green away midweek than man utd

Mobile units seems to be a sensible idea, imagine it’ll be sorted alphabetically. Open all day too, without tempting fate, think the club have got this spot on so far.
If they’ve got the tickets surely people could collect from Friday to spread out a bit and save Saturday bring mental
