Gary Lineker likened the language used by the current Government, to that of the language used in 1930s Germany, which sought to demonise certain groups for political gain. The current Government knows it will lose the next election unless it can come up with a cause that they think 'the British People' want to hear. Unfortunately the cause they have chosen is that of what they call 'an invasion of illegal migrants'. They have chosen to de-humanise vulnerable people for political gain.28 -

If anyone owes Holocaust survivors and their families an apology, it’s this government for using the same tactics and language. Thing is the Social Democratic Workers party had an internment camp set up in Bavaria before they gained any real power, back then they simply shot a few Jews before they could. I don't like hatred of any group of people, for a start it is ignorant and lazy to dislike anybody before they have proved worthy of ire.
I apologise for getting upset on behalf of other people, a trait I don't normally have. I simply feel that likening anything to Nazi Germany is wrong, or any other genocidal state. Pointing out wrong doing is fine, holding people,especially leaders, is laudable.2 -

They're not bothered about people drowning in the sea, they are using that to try to drum up support by pretending that they care. If we had safe legal routes for people to claim asylum they wouldn't try to cross the Channel in small boats. The Government has underfunded the Police, the National Crime Agency, Border Force and Immigration Service for so long that we now have a huge backlog of claims for asylum and the claimants are in limbo for many months whilst their claims are assessed. This is hugely expensive for the taxpayer and when we have a huge labour shortage, it would be much better to quickly process claims and allow refugees to work and pay taxes.

How do you think Hitler persuaded the Germans to put him into power. He employed hate speech and the demonising of a minority. If you cannot see any similarities between the language Hitler employed and what people like our Home Secretary are using then you need to look a little closer. Language is how it started, followed by removal of human rights. Ring any bells ? Resettlement to the east ! What direction is Rwanda ?The_Organiser said:

That’s exactly my point SHG, people here are saying GL only said the language was the same, yes? But imo the implications of GL saying that actually mean much more for the exact reasons you state above. And I think by implying that is where this govt is heading is quite frankly ridiculous, insensitive and irresponsible. In my opinion.
I do however believe he should be free to state his opinions, even if I disagree with them.
But equally, I’m pretty certain that if GL had been speaking from a right wing perspective that the same people on here would have been calling for his head.8 -
