You believe that not to be a clear and obvious error? The defender pulled out of the challenge and the forward threw himself to the ground. Dreadful. Makes a complete mockery of the game.
Is the Sky commentary ahead of the pictures or were they just completely coincidentally talking about who the VAR is today when the game was stopped for a VAR review?
Ten Hag isn't really helping himself here. Weird to start the game with Bruno on the right, and McTominay as the number 10, when you've got 2 wide players sat on the bench.
Now 2-0 down and chasing the game he takes off his centre forward but leaves Rashford on who has done nothing for weeks.
Their football is dire. It's almost 2024 and Jonny Evans is starting games for them, and he's not even their worst player. They spent almost 220m on Antony, Sancho and Mount and Ten Hag now isn't even starting two of them and the other decided he's had enough and would rather sit at home until January. Reguilon is playing for them, and Spurs didn't even want him. Aside from Bruno i can't think of a single first team signing in recent years who's actually performed at the expected level for them. Bruno and Antony are possibly the two most unlikeable players in the league.
I'm sure there's more but that's enough for starters.

I have to say I was absolutely amazed they took Reguillon. It was a definitely double take when we heard Utd wanted him. Like you what? Utd? no, dont be daft? Like really?! Shame its only a loan lol

I guess they were only looking to sign someone to play the odd cup game until Malacia came back from injury, but Shaw got injured, Malacia hasn't come back.
But he's still a good example of how scattergun their transfers are.

I hadn't seen the incident you're referring to at the time, but either way I wasn't commenting on a specific incident.
I was just repeating the mantra that was bandied about by the VAR advocates when it was being introduced. It's there to stop the "clear and obvious" errors - with the Thierry Henry handball being the often quoted example.
And here we are however many years later with absolutely dog shit decisions still being made and NOT being corrected. So, what was the point?!
Whilst we can speculate all day about the reasons why United are so crap, I would rather just sit back and thoroughly enjoy it! Afternoons like yesterday are to be savoured!

I don’t really get the United hatred. I would just rather watch competitive matches and, at the moment, United can’t compete with any of the teams at the top of the league.

Good, plenty of other teams to try and compete at the top instead.

It's also quite enjoyable watching Gary Neville try to spin any defeat into being the fault of the Glazers.
As though they're on the training ground every day and set up the teams tactics and style of play. Ten Hag has spent almost 400m since taking over and the team look no better than when he joined.
Shame it took so long to decide on the Man Utd goal
But the right decision got made what with Maguire being offside.
Think the VAR referee did the right thing too, getting the on-field referee's opinion by asking him to look at it... As the Maguire movement was subjective.

But I thought we were told that offside decisions were factual, and so VAR makes the right call every time?
Now we have a "subjective" offside decision, where the ref is called to the screen. (Is that a first? I can't remember a ref going to the screen for an offside before.)
Was it a "clear and obvious" wrong decision to give the goal? If it was, why did it take 4 minutes to decide that?
The mentality is all wrong. They are looking for reasons to overturn onfield decisions and are terrified of getting it wrong, hence the delays and then passing the buck.
It should be if a goal is given then is there a clear and obvious reason to disallow it. If there is then fine, If there isn't then get on with the game. If it takes 4 minutes to come to a non-decision then there isn't an obvious error to get involved with and correct.
Your right the mentality is wrong, they're terrified of making the wrong call... The fallout of the Liverpool goal has shown Officials the outcome of that.

It’s been a shit show from day 1, the Liverpool game just confirmed that.

A lot of decisions in football are subjective. If VAR was only used to correct the howlers then absolutely fine with me. But it's not. Instead we are taking 5 minutes to make subjective decisions - so no real gain. No real gain means no real point in having it in my book.
Either use it for absolutely clear errors only or get rid.

But it was a pen
Once City won the ball back, from Ederson to Haaland, Utd didn’t touch it again, 8 passes I think.

scrap the entire thing.
(2) Bring in VAR
(3) VAR gets it wrong
(4) Get rid of it, or bring in Foreign Refs
Yet to hear what the next step is?
Will you all accept error then?
Either use it for absolutely clear errors only or get rid.
How long will it take for a clear error to be subjective because it takes slightly longer than another.
Because like you say, the majority of the rules in Football are subjective, so one person may always think foul, the other may not.
