I think it is better for a loan player to win their place in a side which Mitchell has probably done.

That's absolutely right providing there's a level playing field. At Colchester, from January onwards, the new manager brought in his own players on loan and he was left sitting in the stands until, eventually, NJ called him back to train with us. He couldn't play for us and was left in a state of utter limbo and did not kick a ball in anger for seven months from 13th January until 13th August. In fact, last night was only the sixth first team game, of any description, that he's started for anyone in the last 13 months.

Hopefully he will get a run in the team he so that he can come back ready to fight for a first team place with us next season. His versatility could be a real asset.

it was honestly like watching him play for our under 21s at times. Take a touch and surge past the onrushing striker, good tackling, great positional sense, good leadership.  And I’m glad the fans saw that and appreciated it too.

their defence hasn’t been great this year apparently  but Zach stepped in to the middle of it and did well.

i know there were several saying the loan was a waste of time but he’s likely to play one of the old form and it will be interesting to see how he copes with that cauldron.
Anyone you think might be worth a gamble from St. Johnstone, in the summer?

Would make sense sending him up North with more intentions than just game time for him

Although like Jaiyesimi, he's not the first player we've sent on loan to Scotland

Hopefully the loan will give him the experience to be ready to play for us next season

No doubt the club will be monitoring him closely with the first team in mind, and he’s got competition in Laqeretabua too.
  • Got family that live in Perth and are season ticket holders at St. Johnstone…these were his comments

“Well impressed with him. Sat in the middle of our defence and did a brilliant job. Doesn't panic, reads the game well and can pick a good pass. Much better than the last donkey you sent us.”

He spoke at the press conference before they played Hearts:

The season ticket might be "cheap as chips" but the cost of going to and from Australia each and every game must be horrendous.

And given how well NJ has managed Anderson and TC I'd be very optimistic that if either/both are considered ready to start fighting for places in the 16 they'd be used fairly sensibly too and not thrown in right at the Deep end.

He needs to be picked regularly for St Johnstone from now until the end of the season with performances that justify his selection. If they escape relegation he will be lauded up there.
I believe he has the magic quality of consistency, but that belief has not been truly tested yet.
The Colchester managerial change last season was a setback for Zach in my opinion.

1500 St Johnstone fans travelling to Dundee today for a crunch match.
Best wishes Zach, show them all in Scotland that you can play.

The big clubs will be well aware of Zach, and will have been aware of him for a while now. A ball playing CB is a major asset in modern football.

Indeed. My comment was tongue in cheek hence the reference to Millwall being a "big club".

Played the full game today in a 1-1 draw away at Dundee. St Johnstone dominated possession with 59%.

    A snippet from their forum.

‘Mitchell had Murray in his pocket whole game and Murray was getting more and more frustrated.’

Zach played the full match and didn't seem to put a foot wrong from what I saw. St Johnstone won 1-0 with a worldie, and were then drawn to play against favourites Celtic in the semi final at Hampden Park.

    Thanks for that, Seth.

Rather out of the loop here in Tenerife but have been keeping an eye on the St Johnstone score tonight  & like you, pleased to read that Zach played another 90+ minutes.

Hopefully he get more attention in the Cup semi final.

Any idea when it's due to ne played ?
