Stockport County sign the oft linked Lewis Bate on a free.
Potentially a very good signing for them. I can only assume we weren't interested in him, as he would surely have chosen us over Stockport if we had wanted to sign him.

Would need a very strong holder to play with Bate and Fiorini which would be my only concern.
Looking at some of the premiership loans and good signings In here we are still playing catch up big time.
The really decent PL loanees will only go out once their clubs can assess what sort of team they will be going to. Not wishing to mean any disrespect to those that have already been placed somewhere but I would guess that those ones are not necessarily players that are currently at the point of where they are ready for a promotion challenging team.
as for ‘good signings’ quality, not quantity is key. One ‘right’ player for a position can make a huge difference to a team that’s not firing on all cylinders.

This. I think some of our disappointing players will look better with a few decent signings around them.

It's interesting that there are only 2 loan signings so far, and both have gone to Wigan.
Liked the look of Southwood. I’d be quite surprised if he was willing to be a number 2 in league 1 though. Might mean Baxter is off and he’s also a top league 1 keeper.
Quite surprised that Wrexham haven't signed anyone yet.
Would have expected Okonkwo the Arsenal keeper to have signed by now at least. All seems oddly quiet because that squad for me does need quite a bit of work.
Talking of keepers, I bought FIFA 24 on sale this week and going through the league one transfers ahead of a new career mode play.
Shrewsbury currently have no goalkeepers at all!
Now keepers are expected to have ball control and passing skills like outfield players, they've taken it to its logical conclusion and decided to play a midfielder in goal
Seen a lot of Shrewsbury fans very worried for the season ahead. They were right near the top for appearances lost via players leaving at the end of their contract/returning to parent clubs, and they've sold a couple of players as well since.
They need to bring in a bunch of players before the end of the window otherwise I think they will be in big trouble.

“Blues are ready to blow away their League One rivals with a £20 million budget for the season” 💵
Few rumours on twitter that they've bid €5 million for Sparta Rotterdam striker Tobias Lauritsen, which would smash the divisions transfer record. Scored 12 goals in each of the last two Eredivisie seasons.
I think if i was them and after immediate success i'd rather sign Alfie May for a third of that, than go after a striker who might turn out to be good but ultimately is a gamble as he is completely untried in English football.
Realistically if they decide to spend as much as they are claiming, we have no chance of competing with them, and no one else does except maybe Huddersfield from a money standpoint.
Looking more and more likely that it will be a play-offs job at best.

With all the money in the world, they appointed Rooney last year, money doesn't buy you good decision making.
Money normally guarantees you a level of success in the lower leagues, but it doesn't guarantee it instantly.
They have hired an untested manager and they have a club that will get toxic very fast if they don't start well. (Think of Ipswich before Kieran McKenna joined them).
Birmingham will almost certainly go up in the next couple of years, but not necessarily this one. I am far more sure that Huddersfield under Duff will be in the top two at the end of the season.
