Googling the ground capacity (it seems to be a state secret on their website) it comes up as only 5k. surely that can’t be right

Sounds about right. How big do you think it should be?

The conference is a very tough division. Lots of former league clubs are stuck there or have dropped to the regional leagues. The step up is minimal.
Its slowly turning into the Non-League version of the Championship

Where more teams have been in the Football League / Premier League than those that have not.

National League in 2024/25 will have 14-ex Football League sides
Championship in 2024/25 will have had 20-ex Premier League sides

What is funny is the actual truth is that Bromley is a more historic club than Charlton, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
The desperation that Crystal Palace try to show by suggesting they came into being when the universe was created by the Big Bang is put into amusing focus when you realise that Bromley are thirteen years older than them.

There should be a10k minimum ground capacity to join the EFL

And they shouldn’t be allowed to be promoted any higher if they can’t offer at least 1.5k tickets to away fans.

there's no football related romance in lowering the EFL bar to accommodate small clubs, all it does is make the gap between the divisions even greater and brings a closed shop PL1 and PL2 with no relegation from it even closer.

Give it a rest, 5,000 is fine in L2

Bromley has got to rank up there as one of the "driest" in terms of any pubs near the ground.

How do they cope now when 300+ thirsty northern biffers turn up wanting a pint?

2022/23 average was 2,500 ish.  This season just gone it was 3501.

They took 15k plus to Wembley but that will have included a lot of "2nd team" fans.

Having been to Hayes Lane I'm surprised that they can squeeze 5k into the ground.

All these people talking about us loaning them players. What makes you think they would want any of ours, given the season weve had and the fact they are only one division below us now?

    Good point:
Kamarl Grant had a strong game for Bromley in the final and the 21 year old CB on loan from Millwall also overlaps down the flanks and has had a successful time since joining in February.
Grant and Deji both spent time at Kinetic academy before Grant went to Sheffield United and Deji joined Cafc.
It was Deji Elerewe's  injury at York which saw Grant come into the Bromley side and cement his place in the team.

Bromley also had Ben Krauhaus on loan from Brentford (the ex bromley youth player was injured) and Alex Kirk who hit the post twice in the final when coming on as sub is on loan from Arsenal.

The thought that players who aren't good enough for Charlton's 18 man squad will walk into Bromley's 1st team are now wide of the mark; a fit lad like Karoy Anderson possibly as they need mega fit midfielders as they spend vast periods out of possession.

The larger than life in every way Andy Woodman has so many contacts in Football from his days as a goalkeeping coach that the choice of loans he can acquire is large.

They have a decent supporters bar to make up for it. Nearest actual pub is probably a 15 minute walk away.

Spoons opposite Bromley South train station.
    15 minutes walk max.

Either that or Bromley South can often be the first stop out of London

Plus plenty of pubs in Bromley North.
Only a short bus journey away.

Plenty of clubs up and down the country where it's harder to get a pint near the ground

    i despair.

Fuck it. Let’s wish Palace good luck while we’re at it.

Lol. Because that works doesnt it. 30-40 lads all meet up for a pre match pint, have 4 or 5 pints before the game, start getting a bit loud and boisterous as kick off time approaches, then all file outside and stand in a queue for a bus!

The point is, I know there are loads of pubs in Bromley, but theres nothing within a 15-20 minute walk of the ground. And the "quick way" from the station involves walking down a long narrow alleyway behind the school.

It's all a bit out of the way and genteel for hundreds of northerners to be turning up en masse looking for a pint/row.

Good to my local club get promoted. I will take a few more games next season when we are playing away.
The plus side for us, we are no longer the lowest placed London club.

    Jesus.

The reason that so many of us are pleased that Bromley are now in the EFL League 2 is because Bromley FC are now our nearest top four tier club and not Palace !

Jesus saves but Alfie May knocks in the rebound.

with only a 5k capacity and a first year in the EFL, worrying about ‘hundreds’ of away fans probably isn’t going to be much of a concern

That was AFC Wimbledon regardless of what happened at Wembley yesterday

I think I'm right in saying that Bromley is the largest Borough in London.
The catchment area for the football club is huge.
Should Bromley survive the 1st couple of seasons in league Two then I'm confident they will attract enough investment and support to establish themselves as a league club.
What percentage of Charlton season ticket holders live in Greenwich Borough?

Sutton struggled in L2 with a similar sized ground, i think they averaged just over 3k.

A potentially new team to play against in the efl trophy. Let's be honest an away trip to Bromley will be far more interesting than another match against Crawley, Wimbledon, Gillingham, MK Dons etc.

I refuse to except them as a proper club

You dont think away teams will be allocated/will take more than 300?

You joking? Bromley has a ridiculous number of pubs all within walking distance to the ground and Brom South station.

You must've missed the "near the ground" part of my post. A 20 minute walk isnt exactly "near" in comparison to most other grounds.
