Ipswich spent money - wisely - but plenty of it - in Premier League, from Div 3 to Prem in 2 seasons
Ipswich spent their first 12 months spending money with no plan and didn't make the playoffs...

If I was just listening to Charlie without knowing he is Charlie I’d quite like him and it all sounds pretty reasonable but I know it’s him and I just don’t trust him.

And got beat by them at their place 4 nil and then 6 nil in successive seasons - I was at both
But most importantly - last season they got promoted to Prem - we had our lowest finish in 98 years

you can hear about the plans on the YouTube live stream...
Missing the point
What point are you trying to make? And how is it relevant about the initial post? We've all got the hump about last season.
Do you disagree with the statement that the best organised clubs are the most successful ones on the pitch?
Yes I do disagree - best organised is part of it, but you said they had no plan - but they spent money, and then got their house in order - look at them now
I’ll believe it when I see it
Enough now - we ain’t going to agree at the moment
They are pretty impressive in my opinion and I really think they are doing everything they can to move the club forwards. Very positive vibes after years of absolute tossers in charge.

Agree to disagree I suppose - if it was all about budgets then you wouldn't see Plymouth or Oxford promoted out of this league and Man U would be comfortable in the top four of the Premier League season after season. Money is helpful but it isn't everything.
We'll all believe it when we see it but there were no promises made about outcomes - it would be foolish to do so in a competitive sports league.

Because it’s words at the moment - if you want to hang out the bunting on the back of today, you fill your boots
My first match was in 1976 - a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then - good and bad
When I see that what they say translates into a good team / promotion fodder, then I will join you
I’ve made a couple of jokey comments on here but at the end of the day these are positive exercises.
I like the cut of Gavin Carter and genuinely believe he has the best interests of the club at heart, so I’m pleased he seems to have an input to the top table and hopefully the respect of the money men.
Methven can no doubt talk a good game. I’ve no doubt he’s self interest first but I think I can stomach that if it delivers positive improvements.

Bit patronising... it's definitely all been sunshines and rainbows since my first game in the late 90s of course.
I suppose I'll get back to you in 22 years - if Charlton Athletic is still around at that point.
Thought it was very good. Was dubious at first and thought it was season ticket sales pitch but they addressed that. They know first and foremost things need to change on the pitch before they start asking people to think about putting their hands in their pockets and they are working towards that end, so that was a big plus for me. I've listened to Methven a fair few times now, on these meetings and elsewhere and dare I say it but he has impressed me. Despite what we all think we know, the fella has been in and around the echelons of the football boardroom for quite some time now so I think he's earned some stripes. Yes he can come across all city boy but what he says makes lots of sense. I have a slight warm feel of optimism. Let's see.

no offence, but I’m not sure why you’re posting so impactingly on a thread about if not.

And I’m quite entitled to have have my opinion - which whilst some may not like my opinion - I stand by my views
I have not been abusive - just said what I think in (what I believe) to be factually and constructive way (others may disagree, ok)
I’ve heard it all before - when I see what they say, translate onto the pitch, then fine
Thanks
