  • Scott’s position is untenable (which is good news).
Why do you say that ?

Because of his apparent demotion from
the board or are you aware of other changes?

Remember this cobblers about Ged Roddy?

“I’ll still be able to support in various capacities and I look forward to seeing the club continue to progress.”

Sandgaard added: “Ged has done a lot of important work during his time at the club and while we wish him the best for the future, I’m sure we’ll still see him around a lot as he’ll be helping us on upcoming projects.”

This will be another iteration, if indeed the club even mentions Scott again.
Thanks. I see your point but didn’t read it as bluntly as effectively already gone.

Would that suggest that Rodwell instead is the ‘negotiator’ when it comes to trying to land Jones’s targets?

    I think that’s where we’ll end up.

    Hopefully he's out the door.
Utterly useless in everything he does

    As we should.

Rodwell, it would appear, is managing the football side of things through Jones and is therefore best placed to do the negotiations (with a lawyer supporting, I would suggest).

Methven is on the commercial side and as he said months ago (and I agreed through my own experience) that the football and commercial side should be kept separate as no one person has both sets of skills.
  • "Update with regard to purchasing the Valley and Sparrows Lane?"

"Thorny topic ... we are with the fans here, we weren't the ones who separated the assets from the club ... the first thing is about security of tenure, we need to make sure Charlton can play here medium to long term ... whether that means buying or a long lease extension ... having a short term lease is a challenge because you're effectively spending money on someone else's house and they can raise the rent after you've made any improvements... ongoing talks with the landlord to ensure the Valley remains long term home of Charlton Athletic ... there have been initial conversations and it's something we will pursue with all of our mighty because we want to make sure Charlton is playing at the Valley for as long as we can"
People who argue we don’t need to worry about The Valley because the lease runs until 2035 please note. That is not a secure basis for investment in the club, which is what I have always said.

Whether it can be resolved cheaply I doubt, but it is a significant problem and will get worse as the clock runs down.
I’m less worried about the clock, it’s the fan base running down that will be a key one to watch if we don’t get promotion at the end of this season. The EFL/Sky deal will make buying a more expensive season ticket less attractive for many (has that ‘7,000 Addicks’ ST sales number been upgraded yet ?) and losing Dobson and now May by the looks of it isn’t a great indicator for encouraging fans to go to games. Less fans going to the Valley in a promotion winning year is a path that ended up at Selhurst

Failure to invest in the stadium is the path that led to Selhurst.

Agreed but we’ve literally had the same person running one and now the other.
