I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a bit of a fallout resulting in the lack of game time, I also think last week was maybe a bit of a reset with a few heart to hearts.

Thought he was great yesterday and we missed him when he went off. Yes he isn’t the most creative midfielder but Carey is driving forward better (until the end product) and Coady’s passing range means Doc’s weaknesses are less important. With him, Coady and Jones together we have a triangle of leaders in the middle of the park and it’s clearly having an effect

He wouldn’t look out of place in Sunday league football with the ball at his feet, but he’s a great captain and works so hard I can’t help but like him. Seems like a nice bloke in general as well.

Works his arse off and is clearly a limited player working his nuts off to keep his head above water. But his touch is really not very good for this level. Out of possession looked much better last night though. Made a couple of big interceptions.

If you added passing ability to the strengths he clearly already has, he wouldn’t be playing for us he be playing further up the food chain.

He does frustratingly get rid of the ball as soon as he can, wish he would bring the ball down and if need be just make a five yard pass. It’s always a 1st time boot or header away.

Actually thought he used the ball well at times last night.

I don’t think there’s much difference between Doc and Anderson on the ball, but Doc is so much more consistent game by game. Anderson can look the better player in one match and then well below the standard in another.

Off the ball though Doc knows where to be and makes us more solid as a team.

JRC I can only assume NJ doesn’t trust him enough defensively, as he’s clearly far more talented with the ball than Doc and Anderson.

CM is probably the number one area to upgrade in the summer. It wouldn’t surprise me if we look abroad, anyone that offers everything Doc does defensively and is an upgrade on the ball and maybe physically too won’t be cheap to over here.

1) Difficult to imagine, I know, but JRC is slower than Doc.

2) JRC can't manage more than about 50 minutes of football, before he's blowing out of his ar5e.

3) Doc is a leader on the pitch, playing like a proper captain.

I know which one I'd pick if my life depended on it in a relegation scrap. Wouldn't you?

I actually think he may be my favourite current player.

He’ll be remembered tonight probably for a couple of very astray passes (although he played some pretty good ones too) but from my view in the East, what a shift in breaking up play. Even with just over five minutes to go, he was tracking back battling in our corner.

Cracking display and everything Charlton should be about.

I don’t even think he was poor in possession, depends what poor is. Got dispossessed once, possibly twice, two bad passes. Apart from that he kept it neat and tidy, albeit he wasn’t pinging it about.

Maybe it’s more difficult to see from where you
sit? 😂

If he was good on the ball doubt he would be playing for us because there’s very few players nowadays in the professional game that can handle the physical scrap he can

Totally agree with this and in many ways he optimises Charlton. Much better off the ball than on it

Some excellent work, but he lost the ball in some very dangerous areas. Lucky. The management team were seething, but aiming to remain positive. 

Karoy didn't prove to be upgrade on Doc after a run of games.

Seriously though, and not that I know, but how many players are there in this league that break up play and are pretty useful with the ball?

Surely most teams have a spoiler and leave the creative players to hopefully do the rest.

The trouble is, currently to compete in this division, we have had two spoilers most of the season.

I'd say that pretty much every combative CM in this division is better technically than Doch. You'd struggle to name one that is more limited than him.

Just wish he would put his foot on the ball at times, wasn’t his greatest repertoire with his left peg last night, can’t fault his battling though.

This is is really. And as a team that doesn't;t really play through the midfield, I guess he's very suited to the Jones style tbf
