Cos they're games where the focus is on getting the blocks and interceptions in, and withstanding wave after wave of pressure. It's where he actually has to make progress up the pitch with the ball that things start to go pearshaped.

Baffled with NJ that he went through that run of playing Anderson over him.

Made no sense at the time and Doc'ss performances, since returning, have made it even more baffling.

Maybe the rest has enabled him to maintain consistency into the latter stages of the season. When you see last night's performance though, it's criminal that he didn't start at the Den.

Perhaps there was some other, non footballing reasons impacting Doc at the time? I think NJ has achieved more than enough with us to get the benefit of the doubt on this one.

He’s been dropped twice, in two seasons after a run of poor results and middling performances from him.

Both times he’s come back and been one of our key players.

Id say that’s good man management.

also fair play to him, doesn't seem he's ever thrown his toys out of his pram - he's a proper captain (even though I think Jones probably should be)

I don't think his passing is as bad as everyone makes out, it can be very good but it does tend to depend on how hard he has been working and how calm he appears.

The interception and pass on Saturday, the layoff for Bree at Derby prove he can do the impressive stuff on the ball, which make the rest of his contributions more baffling.

Maybe he's a bit TOO all action. He hassles and hurries and tries to get things moving when maybe sometimes taking just a second to actually pick a pass would serve him better. He's got it in his locker but he's at the very best inconsistent when it comes to passing.

I genuinely think he improves us.  Like all our players he is far from perfect but his leadership, endeavour and attitude are very important.

Love what Docherty offers in difficult games for his energy attitude leadership and defensive performances. But this man is arguably a worse passer than ever the worse opinions on his passing make him out to be

I’d suggest it shows what a good pro Doc is, and what a great attitude he has.

Oh definitely, I am a big fan of what he brings and last night was a great example of how important he is. If he was also a passing, creative maestro on top of his ability out of possession we'd probably never have been able to sign him. We are a better team with him than without, but the unfortunate reality is that if we are going to progress to playing "better" football we need players who can pass.
