  • First time I have seen Asher-Smith not reach a final and she is confused why she ran poorly 🤷🏿‍♀️
Dina is a world class athlete but maybe her best days are behind her ?
she's only ever made 1 olympic final though

I'd expect her to final the 200, a much stronger event for her than the 100
  • DAS blew it at the start, you can’t start that poorly and expect to make up the ground

I think Danny Mills Boy George is about to go in the 1500 rep h2
Impressive - Dad plays in World Cup Finals, son runs in Olympics...
  • When did Rebecca Adlington become Amish?

  • Bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay. What a turn of pace by the Dutch girl on the last leg to end up winning.
  • Femke Bol is different class

Olympics don't come round too often so I was thinking mainly  Euros, Commonwealth and World champs.
Gold in the 200m in World Champs and Gold in Euros at 200 and 100.
DAS is only 28 but her best times seem to be a few years ago.

Good fun to watch, but there's something flawed about a relay race early on in the athletics programme, meaning that many of the best 400m runners choose to skip it.

Femke Bol( Netherlands) is a fantastic athlete who was different class to the other Girls in the mixed 400m relay (4th to 1st) but pleased they went to the swimming and didn't interview her as her voice is so high I had to hit the mute button at the World champs.

Superb hurdler and flat runner over 400 metres.

    Women’s 100m final coming up…
Gold for Saint Lucia! Amazing - their first ever Olympic medal of any kind
  • Great performance by Alfred. Good to see the Americans not having it all their own way. I don't think they will win the men's 100m either. The Jamaican Thompson looks the man to beat there.
  • Alfred wins for St Lucia in the 100 metres.
Clayton the Jamaican won her Semi final heat only came 7th.
Neita came 4th and like Asher-Smith has another chance for a medal in the 200m and the relay.
  • Best place for a British 100m runner since 1960  well done Daryl Neita

Anyone know what Femka Bol's time was on the last leg? I think we could have had a bloke running that 400 and she'd have overtaken him.

I think the blokes are generally 3-4 seconds faster than the women, so that's probably unlikely.

Great run though. I love a 4x400 relay.

    She ran a 47.93.

Our second male runner ran a 44.40.

    47.93 was Bol's time.
She ran a storming last leg in the World Champs to win Gold for the Dutch from way back.
Her main event is the 400m hurdles.

Brilliant isn't it - utter chaos! Its always the way though as there are so many permutations in that last race.

I doubt you'll be able to move in St Lucia without going down Alfred St, Alfred Avenue and Alfred Road to Alfred Towers - after calling in at the Alfred Mall.
  • In the wrap up section on euro sport the rowers were interview by Tom Daley and one said ‘massive effort and I was then teabagged by Harry’  (the cox)
Laura just had to issue an apology for anyone offended.

  • Also Abbie Wood the Brit was in a swimming final today. Made me chuckle.

Finished just behind the French bird Belle Vadeere

Born in Buxton, so either her parents haven't heard of the London suburb and station, or have a bad sense of humour!
  • Maybe they were inspired by the naming of Brooklyn Beckham, and that was where she was conceived.
  • Superb from Alfred. Big surprise. Thought that was easily going to be Richardson's gold, considering the top three Jamaican's were all missing in the final.

200m will be exciting, hard to guess the gold medal from Thomas, Jackson, and Ta Lou Smith. Didn't realise until now Alfred is also running the 200m, so is going for double gold.
