Have the USA nicked our athletics kit? Can't get used to this dark blue one.
we should stick with white with the red and blue stripe, you know where we are then. I wouldn't think theres a great replica kit market, so they should stick with a kit we can pick out in events.
This year's kit is awful! Apart from the strange colour, it's desperately dull looking too. Our kits have always been white, with blue and red on them, not plain dark blue.
So they are getting rid of lightweight double skulls rowing from the Olympics, but horse dancing to shyte music remains.
And that global sport, baseball, will appear in Los Angeles.
Great to see Team GB ahead of the medal tracker compared with Tokyo. Hard to imagine team GB came 36th at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
Fun fact: Team GB are pretty good at baseball and have an outside chance of qualifying for 2028. There won't be many teams there, but that's due to the size of a baseball squad and the IOC's desire to keep the numbers of athletes manageable rather than a lack of countries playing the game.

If the number of athletes is an issue, scrap horse dancing and their huge associated entourages and horse transport [carbon and financial] costs.

Not exactly sport for all.
Our national baseball league isn't professional. Our best players go to play in the US, although the preference for there rather than Japan or Mexico is more about language than playing opportunities. But then rowing isn't professional here either, and many of the best youngsters go off to the US college system to aid their development.
I'm happy to accept that baseball has a less strong case for inclusion than basketball or ice hockey (to pick a couple of American sports). But how many countries play hockey? Or rugby sevens? Or synchronised diving? Should we just restrict the Olympics to athletics and football as the only truly global sports?

It's huge in Central and South America and the Spanish Caribbean. Also big in Japan and Korea. Cricket is also making a comeback, which is essentially English Baseball let's be honest
Aren't we getting T20 cricket for the LA games too? Or is that more likely for Brisbane?
Yes, the LA games have T20 cricket. Great for India and Australia etc, as it doesn't clash with their domestic cricket, but a pain for our domestic schedule., as the Olympics will be in July.

GB will be defending champions having won the cricket in 1900

That's going to cause some interesting discussions about selection etc and what happens to the domestic game during it!

In much the same way that lacrosse is basically table tennis. ;-)

I honestly think the Olympics should only be for sports where the Olympics is the pinnacle of the sport. I’m not really sure if football, tennis*, golf etc should really be part of it - same goes for baseball.
*I absolutely wasn’t saying this when Andy Murray was winning back to back golds!

Surely no different than if the T20 World cup was held in our summer though? Which it won't be as in 2028 it's scheduled for Australia/NZ i think in October. Plus the Olympics only runs for 2 weeks so is much shorter than a world cup.

I've always liked this as a ballpark criteria for inclusion with a bit of leeway thrown in
on that basis I'd be ditching the following from this year's program-
football breaking road cycling golf skateboarding
basketball probably stays because the olympics is the pinnacle to everyone but the americans boxing stays but must remain as amateurs only -edit- forgot to add, tennis stays as while the olympics isn't the pinnacle of the sport the golden slam is regarded really highly
and there are a few that are in a grey area
I'd also get rid of swimming because it's really boring
Our tennis commentators are now showing an obvious bias to Alcaraz. ‘Novak is living on scraps’ as Djokovic pulls off text book serves and returns to win the first set tie break.

Djokovic did look second best for most of that set.
But that's the point with Djokovic (and other champions etc) isn't it? Even when he's looking second best he scraps for his life, then wins the set.

After the Scandal of Charlotte Dujardin, none of the competitors use a whip to lash their horse's hooves to make them dance.
Burning embers work just as well 🐴😱
Lizzie Deignan nee Armitage has longevity as she is still in the GB team.

Fleetwood hanging in there, in a tie for 2nd with Matsuyama.
