    Has he been transferred out?
You might want to read what you've written again.
  • Good match against some tough opponents who gave us a test, game was won by the defence today, and congrats to Jones taking his goal like a forward...on we go...

I think you are right but the same could be said about us and we both agree that it was the bounce that the defender misread that led to the goal, I think we both agree it was probably our defence that won us the day, and you haven't heard that phrase too often in the last few years.
Don’t think it bounced did it?
  • Not your usual CBs finish was it? Jones has excellent technical ability for this level.
  • Oops. Got Fraser and Edwards mixed up.
  • Nice to be not sitting here on a Sunday pretending i do not give a shit that Charlton have plumbed new depths of ineptitude and crapness.

Hey, this new upbeat attitude suits me!

So, what you're saying is, if he gets a sniff around the box he's the sort of guy who knows how to slot it home and score?

Gracious and pleasant. Very likeable, this one. Hope Wigan have a good season
Thought it was Pep for a minute!

    Also on the Charlton App.
  • I think Wigan are a top ten outfit, especially when you consider how many good players they were missing yesterday. I also thought they wouldn't have conceded the goal if Aimson was still on the pitch. Very good player.

The defence was good and Mannion appeared to be a calming influence. Edwards definitely my man of the match.

We were competitive throughout but very uninspiring going forward. We need Godden to have a productive season.

At last an improvement in form after 4 barren years. Hopefully we are now moving forward as a club and at the very least punching our weight.
  • As we move through the season it will be interesting to see how the squad develops. We need a couple of additions and hopefully we are able to reduce our numbers to enable a couple to come in before the window closes. I’m not overly fussed about a GK but I do think we need more creative intent in midfield and controversial I know but I would be looking for another striker. I don’t think TC will be consistent enough despite his endeavour. Chucks is always one stretch away from injury and although we have Miles to come back let’s be honest there is a question mark against his ability to stay injury free
  • One thing out of yesterday…was Paul Hart there? Haven’t seen him all pre season.
I asked the question a few weeks back and no one responded so assumed he was but couldn’t see him again yesterday.

  • I can’t let this thread continue without a quick mention to The Fish Guy, such a naff performance but shoal..ly  worthy of cult status. Anyone have any footage to share ?
  • any footage of full time celebrations?

Does he owe you money as well?
  • tested by an adequate Wigan team, got the 3 .. the team/squad will only get more together and we will have more difficult games ahead .. very good start before then usual noisy away fans, I wish I had the energy of our drummer

A WORD OF WARNING .. on the way to the ground from the Red Robin pub where myself and friend parked up (free and no bother) I saw the arrest of a young Addick fan. He had had a few, was acting the goat BUT no way was he a proper nuisance, his pals had taken him away from the bit of bother he was involved in in the pub's beer garden and were trying to talk him down.. THEN two Greater Manchester Policemen got involved and were (I M O) right over the top, at least the younger of the two and (again in my opinion) rather egged on by his older colleague.
The youngster in question was slammed onto an asphalt car park floor, cuffed and hauled to his feet by the younger cop and when a couple of his friends tried to if not interfere, express concerns for his treatment, the young cop drew and unleashed his baton and screamed GET BACK GET BACK
I know all us football fans are Right Wing Fascist Racist Thugs, BUT !!!

The warning is I suspect that after the recent riots, football fans could be fair game for any 'officials' looking for some come back after being the butts of hurled bricks, abuse, assaults etc and that the Police will be given some (or a lot of leeway) when policing football fans, and the courts will fully back them up
I though carefully before typing this, however, it needs telling

I hope the young Addick was released sharpish and that he was not too badly bruised, also that his mates learnt a lesson. The fine line between high jinks and minor hooliganism is now MUCH finer it seems

It’s a pity that one of his mates didn’t get footage of the incident. Sounds over the top policing if it’s as stated.

my friend and his missus got their phones out, however it was all over (except for the kid being marched away) before they could get 'filming', it all happened VERY quickly

    Two tier policing
    What a shock
  • Got to be happy with 3 points away and a clean sheet - hopefully positive signs for the future.
Be interesting to see the line up for Tuesday - expecting multiple changes as 3 points against Orient has to be the priority. Looking at those that didn’t play yesterday we can still pick a strong team against Brum and these being good enough to get us into the second round
