Got to be happy with 3 points away and a clean sheet - hopefully positive signs for the future.
Be interesting to see the line up for Tuesday - expecting multiple changes as 3 points against Orient has to be the priority. Looking at those that didn’t play yesterday we can still pick a strong team against Brum and these being good enough to get us into the second round

I think Birmingham will have the same view. I’d expect

tested by an adequate Wigan team, got the 3 .. the team/squad will only get more together and we will have more difficult games ahead .. very good start before then usual noisy away fans, I wish I had the energy of our drummer

A WORD OF WARNING .. on the way to the ground from the Red Robin pub where myself and friend parked up (free and no bother) I saw the arrest of a young Addick fan. He had had a few, was acting the goat BUT no way was he a proper nuisance, his pals had taken him away from the bit of bother he was involved in in the pub's beer garden and were trying to talk him down.. THEN two Greater Manchester Policemen got involved and were (I M O) right over the top, at least the younger of the two and (again in my opinion) rather egged on by his older colleague.
The youngster in question was slammed onto an asphalt car park floor, cuffed and hauled to his feet by the younger cop and when a couple of his friends tried to if not interfere, express concerns for his treatment, the young cop drew and unleashed his baton and screamed GET BACK GET BACK
I know all us football fans are Right Wing Fascist Racist Thugs, BUT !!!

The warning is I suspect that after the recent riots, football fans could be fair game for any 'officials' looking for some come back after being the butts of hurled bricks, abuse, assaults etc and that the Police will be given some (or a lot of leeway) when policing football fans, and the courts will fully back them up
I though carefully before typing this, however, it needs telling

I hope the young Addick was released sharpish and that he was not too badly bruised, also that his mates learnt a lesson. The fine line between high jinks and minor hooliganism is now MUCH finer it seems

The very rationale of the police, to be thugs without much transparency, needs addressing. Do HR contact schools and ask if Mr Jack Reagan was a bully during his education?

No 1 criteria for excluding people from the police. I know a few officers or ex, some brilliant, some absolute sociopaths/psychopaths.

  • Don't know about policing, but CL's always been the place if you want Two Tier Thinking...

    Two tier policing
    What a shock

Bollocks. The two tier policing myth is directly promoted by far right wankers encouraging the riots. The police ended up protecting the "protesters" from the anti-racist turnout

In light of what they've had to put up with, the injuring of colleagues, I would say your friend got off lightly. Thank god for our tolerant approach to public order. In the US he would be dead.

My LoL is for your final sentence. 🧐

Don’t ruin the football with this shite ffs.
that's why I thought about NOT posting what I saw and my opinion of the incident .. BUT, as said, I hope it serves as a warning . KEEP OUT OF ANY SEMBLANCE OF TROUBLE whilst at and going to and from matches

Some football fans seem to think that they can act to lower standards. I didn't see the incident so can't comment and it is fair to warn fans to be careful. I think it was naughty to make a political point on this thread and it got a response and would suggest both posts are removed and we get back to talking about the football.

You don't think that in the US there would have been a firearms response?

I agree, but we have a choice to challenge bs and thus get involved in political debate or let that go without comment. Happy to leave it.

It's a good call from Lincs and we should all heed it, whatever your opinions of how we got to this point.
  • Thing of beauty, absolutely perfect (and needed to be as it was in the box).

We scraped a 1 nill win in the opening fixture last season. I vaguely remember having more enthusiasm after that match than i do today.

A midfield of Coventry, Docherty and Anderson are going to create very little. I struggle to see where goals are going to come from.

    Completely disagree.
We certainly won both opening fixtures by fine margins. That is a fact.

Both Cov and Anderson were part of NJ's midfield that managed only four wins.

One thing out of yesterday…was Paul Hart there? Haven’t seen him all pre season.
I asked the question a few weeks back and no one responded so assumed he was but couldn’t see him again yesterday.
Hasn’t been seen all pre-season. He is still listed as part of the coaching set up, however no updated pic, which the others have. Not sure if there is an health issue or what, but defo not been in the dug out.

There’s a big difference between a tidy, but slightly lucky, away win at Wigan, and an over celebrated, slightly lucky home win against newly promoted Orient. They left very different tastes in the mouth.
However, the three points is the thing.
Let’s hope we build on it more effectively than we did last season.

Fair enough. It was the shite about 2 tier policing I was challenging.
For what it's worth mate, I totally agree with you but as people say it's best left to another forum, not this one.
