Really pleased. Thought we were the better side and deserved the win. Toughest test so far and still think we look comfortable throughout. Still 43 to go, but bring it on.
But really I think it was that midweek trip to the MJ musical that got us the win today.
On a slightly more serious note, there is a good team spirit in this team, great passion being shown. Over the course of the season that will bring us extra points that could make all the difference to getting out of this godforsaken league.
Brilliant from the boys today!
Has the feeling of the Powell 102 points season in that respect
Great result against a decent Bolton side who played on the front foot but never managed to dominate us. Lots of players contributed but there weren't any true stand out performances which suggests there's more to come from this squad (I hope). My only nagging doubt is how we'll respond when teams work us out and we have to adapt. Plenty of our recent managers failed to solve that particular puzzle.
I loved that. It would be unfair to say that I hate Bolton, but I've always hated playing them. In many ways I think they are a similar club to us; a decent club overshadowed by more illustrious neighbours from a huge footballing city. If it's not stating the bleeding obvious I hate the way they have had the hoodoo over us. As a team I think the've historically been at a similar level to us, but they always seem to have had someone just a little bit special who has done for us. Whether that was Jay-Jay Okocha scoring goals for fun, Ivan Campo absolutely dominating the midfield or latterly Ricardo Santos making their defence look impregnable, they always seemed to have a stand out player that would tip the balance in their favour. Not today though. We showed grit, determination and no little skill right across the pitch. Sure, there were times (especially in the second half) when they tested us, but whatever they could do we could match, sometimes more so.
Mannion looks like the best keeper we've had in ages. Jones looked sublime, but all of the defence played their part and looked solid all afternoon. In midfield we were tireless. Up front we harried their defenders and made them look quite uncomfortable. Crucially, we also took our chances. Got to say a word of praise as well for Charlton's extra man. The crowd were superb. Long may it continue.
Just one minor disappointment. Once again we never got to see Bolton's midget fanbase. I know they exist because I saw them on Phoenix Nights, but they don't seem to like travelling.

I wasn't at the game, so had a quick skim through the Match thread (admittedly mainly to find out why Coventry and Berry got booked at the same time, should've known it was Berry getting done for dissent) and I was gobsmacked when I saw this from 3:08

Did that really happen? Perhaps it was an early indication that it wasn't going to be Santos' day after all.
It wasn’t a direct header v header opportunity as far as I remember.
Bit of a long ish ball forward and Campbell successfully got himself between Santos and the ball, used his newfound strength to bring it down and laid it off for Docherty to go on a sprinting run past him with the ball.

Currently PMSL at @sillav nitram getting a bit carried away on the player marks thread. Not sure whether he's overdone it on the post match celebrations, or is experimenting with AI marking, but 10 out of 10 for the ref?!?
Out of interest, does anyone know our defensive coach, or we not big enough for one of them?
It’ll be Curtis Fleming with a lot of input from Jones
Cheers. He’s an absolute asset at the moment. Can see the training ground work reflecting on the team. High fives and talking non stop, it’s chalk and cheese to last season.
Ok now I've had time to have a beer and think about it, I'm excited for the rest of the season, properly
It's early days yet but the team ethos and the way we're more than the sum of our parts is beginning to feel like the CP, 101 points team, where we didn't blow teams away every week, we just kept on winning. (1-0 to The Londoners against both the Sheffields for instance) and I feel like the players have bought into the NJ way of thinking and working.
Combine that with an ownership team (because they are an entire team) that seems to want to back us and take us forwards, and I'm optimistic for the future of our fine club

Getting carried away and loving it.
C.O.Y.R !!!
Great finish by Docherty but a direct cause of trying to play it out.
