  • Didn't see the game today but we were truly awful in the first half at Shrewsbury last week and should have been two down at half time. Small margins I guess, but if this continues it will be a major concern for the rest of the season.
I think we all knew we would lack creativity from midfield and boy is it coming home to roost. I don't know where we go from here. Let's hope we can scrap our way to a few more wins to keep us in contention.
  • I can't figure it out.  Lots of experts on here said last season you don't need to tackle to be in midfield and continually criticised Dobson.  We now have a non tackling midfield the envy of everyone. Yet we are shit.
Has to go down as the worst football experience in my 40 Years of watching us.
I wish I had your memory
    Wish I had you positivity!

Only bright thing about the match was Albie Morgan 1st goal scorer @18-1 B)
I dunno, the final whistle was pretty satisfying.
  • Just not good enough…Nuff said…🤨

Got one lifetime... Might as well enjoy it... Rather than being a glass half empty type of person, worrying about what might happen.

I'm not always positive, but that tends to be things I can control

However you cant say that todays result was worse than anything we've seen in the last few years, let alone 40

Let’s not forget selling your best striker in years and replacing him with fucking ahadme ffs
Akin to swapping Linda Lovelace for an aquavac!
  • Before the season started we were told we will bring in quality players that are capable of playing in the championship, from very early on you could see most of the players are not even good enough for league one,Doherty,   Campbell  are no improvement on Dobson for instance,Berry slow, looks like his legs are gone, Terry Taylor obviously isn't liked by the manager, maybe because he's a footballer and can pass. How Jones gets away with bringing all his mates in he must have the board round his little finger. He obviously likes his own yes men in his teams.Southampton players sussed him out very quickly. As for selling May,a top goalscorer  and not replacing him.
  • Jones has to take some blame for that and will be interested to see what he says in his post match video.

Why REG? He’s just not very good! And the defence was working as it was so leave it alone!

As for the rest of the team very poor, only bright spark for me was Coventry and a few of the subs - Doccers is rather ineffective would be happy for Jones to take the armband.

Lastly, stop picking Ahadme he’s utter shite.

  • First half was not bad it was abysmal.

    Our tactics were terrible.

Our home record over past few seasons has been poor, don’t think Jones has really solved anything.

Far too much room between attack and defence, particularly as midfield goes awol most of the time.

Second half we improved but the ref was an absolute c.nt..

I think we have to start Chuks/Godden/TC ...

    Choose the permutations

Ahadme was better first half but he's not a centre forward.  He has no pace and no balance.

Our midfield lakes a creative spark.  We have two players that can arrive late in the box but no ingenuity.

Lloyd Jones is our captain.  He's leading by example now.

Doherty/Berry/Campbell...... all a bit meh.... not bad but not good.

Anderson was better than them today when he came on.

    REG.  No.

Our right back is a different quality.

The goalkeeper is pretty decent considering Nathan wants him as our number 2.

Blackpool players are a disgrace.  Steve Bruce - you should be ashamed.

Start Chuks? Uh-oh... I thought we'd all learned how that story goes. Hope Jones doesn't get any such idea!

    Cheer up folks. Luton won.
  • abysmal. Jones needs to realise this is football not cross country running, you need to be able to do something with the ball show quality and play the game you can’t rely on running alone , ahadme the shining example of that. Utter utter toilet, the fact he left it so long to bring Aneke on was also shocking and possibly cost us a point

that was the most frustrating game I can recall for many a year with the Blackpool bollocks and appalling refereeing making no attempt to put a stop to it, the not given penalty also a disgrace. That said, I hope Jones doesn’t point fingers or moan at others for this result because it was self inflicted, you give Blackpool the lead like that you offer them the right to piss about like that.

And this shows sadly why XG is relevant, you need to be able to create chances to score goals, we had half time and the whole opportunity to throw the kitchen sink at it and created hardly anything, needing their goalkeeper to give us an assist to score.

long rethink on tactics needed , great that were generally now more solid and clearly that was essential but evidence shows you also need to be able to score goals and attack to get promoted , every single promotion side we have ever had has been able to do both, I’d be interested to know how many teams in history have got promoted scoring an average of 1 goal a game
You might be surprised then that had Charlton 13 shots to 8 and a higher xG than Blackpool…
not surprised at all because of the pattern of the game, and the goal we scored would have had an extremely high XG because it was literally an open goal, but that was created by their goalkeeper...

let me know what the XG was at Half time  ;)

Awful performance.  The ref was utter crap and Blackpool were cheating w*****s but neither of those facts excuse how we are being set up to play. It is ghastly football that is ineffective hoofball. All this “Jones will sort us out”, “Jones will be stripping the paint off the walls” guff belies the fact that it is Jones who is setting us up to play like this. We have been riding our luck and we got caught today. He needs a plan B and I hope he finds it quickly.

We were shite first half. The ref didn’t allow the game to flow second half. It can be multiple things that contribute to a result.
  • Worst performance I've seen under Jones.

No creativity and gave them the game first half.

Can't see where we'll get goals from or what the attacking philosophy is other than launching it up hit and hope style bypassing our small midfielders.

Ref was a berk as was  Albie Morgan. Had he shown half an ounce of the grit he did today in the vast majority of his impotent performance in a charlton shirt maybe he wouldn't be living up in some fat hen do infested northern outpost.

Awful shithousery team today Blackpool and I hate  them as a result and hope they go down the tangerine fetishistic nauses.

Only positive is that our lot showed a bit of bollocks to the end whereas prior squads of recent years would have cried off. Our players shouldn't have shook their hands after the match.

Can't get a Leaburn back quick enough and Mitchell was a big misss at the back today.

Extremely disappointing to lose at home but predictable that "Scapegoat" Albie Morgan would return and contribute to our woes.

Jones needs to ginger up our midfield so that we offer a threat against other teams. Today showed we cannot keep a clean sheet every match.

  • We were poor first half, but ultimately it was lot more even after Campbell came on.

The second half we were okay, but it was always going to be a different game with Blackpool sitting back and trying to catch us on the counter.

    A couple of my observations:

    1) At the moment I’m struggling to see how Jones made it to be a premiership manager if this is the only brand of football he can get teams to play. I don’t think any team is going to get promoted after 46 games, if they can’t dominate in them. It’s plain to see that every team we have played this year have moved the ball better than us, and to me that’s worrying.

    2) Going to have to wait and see how we respond to this, but pick up two wins the next couple of games and all of a sudden everything feels different. Even if we don’t, I want to see some progression with how we are with the ball.

Though all being said and done, even if we are this mish mash team throughout the rest of the season we just have to stick with Jones in my opinion.

    3) I really really am starting to find Steve Brown impossible to listen to on Charlton Live. I’m not saying he does not add interesting insights, because he does. But ultimately to me he sounds like someone who should be in the studio at half time discussing various aspects of what’s going on. As a commentator he spends way to much time trying to pull apart each phase of play, and focus on scenarios that didn’t happen but he thinks should have happened, instead of talking about what happened and why it happened.

And that’s not to even mention the times he contradicts himself to try and make a point.

Agreed. And I'm pleased he hasn't flown off the handle again like the Reading loss. We will be beaten throughout the season, and NJ throwing toys out the pram every time wouldn't help.
  • There are times when you witness something that makes you speechless cause it’s so bad it can’t be true .. we seen many a poor ref at the valley over the years .. but after giving careful throught I thing safe to say what we witnessed this afternoon was the “ worst “ ever , given Keith Stroud admitting he hated Charlton and the performances we seen from him this bloke pips him , now he done the same to us last season v Bristol Rovers but today he went to another level , he will need poilce escort out the ground … 3 pen 2 clear as you will get shirt pull on Jones and the hand ball in from the goal were shocking enough but the way he conned and cheated by Blackpool players was amazing .. but just his own his 50/50 tackles all to Blackpool silly bookings for us but somehow none for them .. even in the bbc report the reporter mentioned how bad he was .. what will be done about him nothing that’s what .
The game becomes second to this clown because you knew if he was never going to let us get anything today ….
Would give credit to Blackpool for there systems that completely stoooed us especially in mid but they don’t deserve nothing if you have to cheat to win a football match then take the 3 points .. feel sorry for the boys who battled and gave it all again but surrounding the ref at final whistle with the songs ringing in his ears of “ your not fit to ref “ 2-0 to the referee really showed what sort of day it was ..

I will say the save from Jones header was world class the block on the ball to stop Jones tapping into an empty net was just has good .. but expect he would have disallowed it anyway …

How on earth did we end up with 12 mins of added time second half?
It was 13.48. And should have been 15. More shithousery after the 12 were announced.
But as @seth plum, sitting behind me said, how do you change the rules to stop it?
I wonder if there are stats that show the amount of times winning teams need to call the trainer on - as opposed to losing sides.

I wouldn't be surprised if the figures show a ten fold increase in the winning teams requiring treatment.  Some call it 'Shithousery', I call it 'ruining the game of football'.

It's too late for me, I will shuffle down to the Valley - no matter what - until I can't do it anymore.  But, if that was my first game of football?  It could well have also been my last.

I wasn’t at the game but my son said there was 9 mins 44 seconds of injury time , I think he said the board said 9 mins and he kept a stopwatch on how long the ball was in play …. 3 mins 44 seconds it was in play , shithousery at work there

edit : just re read his message he started his watch on 94.00 so there was 13mins 44 seconds of added time and by the sounds of it fuck all played , brilliant and amazing gamesmanship and craft when we do it bit not fair if the oppo do it 🙄

The board indicated 1mins of time added on. They also went down 3 times during that 12 mins.

Callum, Blackpool knew exactly what they were doing, every time they went down they clutched their head, the Referee is duty bound to stop the game in those circumstances. You are right, our first half performance was shocking and going two nil down allows Blackpool to use the tactic of feigning a head injury. Its for the football authorities to clamp down on, not the Referee  Personally I think if they declare a head injury then they should leave the field of play for five minutes to ensure no after affects or concussion, not hopeful that would ever be the case though.
