  • Jones is a good person who is sensitive to criticism. That is no reason to dislike him.
Jones is an egotistical / arrogant bad loser who appears incapable of introspection and has treated players poorly on multiple occasions. Not saying he’s a bad person, but there’s a lot one could dislike about him
Football fans are so very different aren't they...

We can, by the same token as we can get promoted.
  • Very tough away fixture list during the second half of the season (not just in Jan).

We still need to play 4 of the top 5 teams away (Birmingham, Wycombe, Wrexham & Stockport).

  • I always thought that he overdid the fistpumps early on When he was celebrating with the fans. Let the players bask in the glory.
We celebrate as a team and Jones is central to that. After Appelton we wanted passion and that what Nathan brings.

I don't like it when we're winning 5-0 and there is nothing from Nathan. Today fair enough (but then again when we won 2-1 after being complacent the tunnel jump is overdoing it).

I was wondering if anyone nearer could tell me, I guessed he’d been gifted clear plasters for Christmas or had that vile stuff you put on your nails to stop biting them but the black tape/plasters weren’t on his fingers yesterday

As the famous quote goes "show me a good loser and I will show you a loser".
I agree with this but there are levels and there are ways to be a bad loser. And actually on reflection what’s probably more grating with Jones is he’s a bad winner
  • I think Jones is driven, excitable, stubborn, arrogant and unstable. What could possibly go wrong.

Jones continues to do enough that he keeps the job and gets at least one more window but whilst Northampton was a pretty resounding win, Cambridge was definitely not.

The late subs was definitely a bold choice. Not necessarily a good one as we seemed to give up a lot of initiative, but it worked out okay.

I've repeatedly said I have been disappointed in Jones this season and that remains so but we're seeing just enough hints of possible recovery that I think he's safe enough for now and probably rightly so.
I thought we definitely looked like we needed a sub or two early in the second half. He rode it out though and the team regained control without the need for personnel changes. When we did get changes and I saw who it was, I fully understand why he didn't bring them on earlier; rightly or wrongly he'd have got slaughtered if we'd drawn or lost after bringing Anderson and Adheme on. I got the distinct impression that the subs were more about squad inclusivity than game management.

And very chippy, oh and Welsh.

And being Welsh has what to do do with anything?

    He's a foreigner. Nuff said.

The best thing about this thread is that everyone’s comments are all in one place… I don’t have to go scouring through loads of different threads looking for them.

Up to 7th… Nathan Jones’ reds go marching on…

I changed my tune after Mansfield. I have that at least

Indeed, let's reevaluate in the summer, during the season/after a few wins isn't really the time to dig out others

  • I’ve been very critical of both the players and Jones but today was decent. I’ll still not give Jones too much credit because what’s happened in last three games isn’t a consequence of his tactics suddenly working. He’s been either forced into a change or realised his favoured style might cost him his job. Having said that, there is definitely something to build on now regardless of the whys and wherefores. Now would be a good time to invest in the squad but I’m fairly sure that’s unlikely. Anyway. Very good win today.

You’re right, but Callum had people digging him out on this thread after losses so I can understand his perspective.
    Thanks.

Funny how we should evaluate in the summer after a few wins eh…

Allow me to enjoy it folks. Being on this forum wasn’t much fun only a couple of weeks ago, having my name posted all over match threads when we conceded a goal etc.
Glad today was worth getting up before 6am for too
