Obviously in massive credit and any talk of sacking is ridiculous, but he did make some mistakes on Saturday with our set-up.

    Hopefully he learns for Tuesday.
Name a manager that doesn’t make bad decisions?, Arne slot and Pep even losing lots of games. Not having a go at you by the way, a lot of NJ’s issues are his insistence of formation and having to fit certain players into that, the injuries are killing us at the moment.

True but that was never going to work yesterday, not helped by Doc and Coventry running in cement and our “strikers” offering nothing .  He will have to rethink on Tuesday , otherwise it’s another thrashing .

Oh yes I agree something has to change but his hands are a bit tied at the moment, if he wanted to go to a back four he can’t unless he throws a kid in there or has a right footer play at left back. The space left in the centre circle for them to run at us was very alarming yesterday.

Nathan Jones got it badly wrong yesterday, in the way he set  that  team up, and not making change soon enough. It is as if he had become so obsessed in proving to Southampton F C and fans that he is a clever manager that he would not make the changes soon enough.
Being called a Sheep**** can not put you in a good mind set.

    No plan B.

Absolutely spot on, as always. Nailed it, in fact.

Why he left all of those international defenders we have sitting on the bench was a mystery.

    Moron.

Point of order: Josh Laqeretabua is an international defender ;)

Here’s a photo of every manager, player and coach in our history who’s never made a mistake, all standing in front of the Curbs Stand:

In Thursday’s pre-match press conference I thought I heard Jones make a comment that some injured players might be close to being in contention for Saturday’s 18 man squad, which didn’t of course happen. Nowadays we get precious little detail on injuries. I know Edwards had surgery and last I heard Godden is now training with the other players. Any news on Bell, Burke and Kelman? If hamstring injuries (?), I assume they could still be 2-3 weeks away, or longer, depending on the severity.

Nonsense talk of Jones being under pressure. You write him off at your peril.

One slight concern I do have however is how well Southampton picked our press apart yesterday. Now I'm pretty sure not every team in the champ have the tools to do that , but a lot of them will.
It's the kind of thing that would have been picked up by every premier league team on the days that we were there. The championship is a much more professional outfit these days, and analysts will be analysing.
Predictability and doing the basics are good when it's going well but when you've been found out somewhat a decent 'plan B' will be necessary.

Difficult I know with the squad size and injuries. I'm sure Jones will find a way.

Jones' refusal to talk about how long players will be out for is one thing I really don't understand.

Fair enough, we may not be entitled to know the exact problem a player has - I get that is confidential and can well understand the player not wanting the world to know. But in this day and age I don't get why we shouldn't have a rough idea of when someone will be back.

Take Kelman for example. Will he be back in a week or so or has he got a long term injury that some on here have speculated is the case. What harm can there be if we know if he is likely to be out for 3 weeks or 3 months?

I wonder when we’ll have a conversation about some of the signings this summer. Theres been big money spent (for us) and a few with big questions marks over them.

You think opposition teams don't watch press conferences? Yeah, let's let the opposition know 75% of our defence is injured...

LOL! You don't really think that in this day and age when everything is analysed to the nth degree that any team playing us doesn't know we currently have got half our defence out injured? They really don't need to watch our press conferences to ascertain that.

Such a lazy nonsense criticism. There might not be a plan B at the moment but that’s because we have no options. If you only have 3 available defenders then that really does limit what you can do

We saw countless times last season that Jones is a manager that is willing to switch things up and chase a game and it resulted in us winning so many

If you really think he’s a manager with no plan B then you can’t have been watching much of the last 18 months

I think there’s only a few teams with the quality of player to do what Southampton did in terms of popping it around our press so easily. Unfortunately we are playing another of them on Saturday

Kelman is far more important to our press than most realise (well until now anyway!)

We got battered by a squad worth millions, the fans who are completely overreacting, are probably the same ones who 3 weeks ago thought we were at minimum going to be in a playoff spot at the end of the season. Our only target this season, still really needs to be 55 points and staying up.
Absolutely bang on mate ! no overreaction should be taking place by fans. Its unlikely that we will gain many points in the next 2 games we just need to take it on the chin and be thankful for the points we have gained already which hopefully give us a bit of breathing space before we get a few games where we can pick up points

I can suggest a Plan B for Golfie. 'Support' a different club.
  • Nathan is the best manager we have had since Curbs. Saturday doesn’t change that.

My plan B doesn't entail our owners spending money (and they cant before Jan 2nd) and its crass of anyone to think that.

Just use the players you have in the positions they are known for. That means not playing Apter as a wingback and if it means giving up your 532 for a couple of weeks then so be it. Then when Bell, Edwards & Burke are fit again go back to your tried & trusted formation.

Not fucking rocket science is it.

So say we went to a back four with Ramsay, Jones and Gillesphey, who would have played left back?

Probably too far the other way.

Get Charlton to the Premier League then he is on Curbs level- at the moment he is Lee Bowyer level at best. (Chris Powell won League One, so that'll have to go down as the best Promotion from that league).

However I would agree with this statement should he keep us up this + next season. (beating Milwall wouldn't harm his reputation as well)
