If anyone wants Jones out, I ask the question... Where did they expect us to finish this season?
It shouldn’t be dismissed as an opinion so quickly.

Without Jones we wouldn't be in this league. He deserves time and backing from the board.
  • That last goal was an absolute kick in the nuts, however it’s taken us 5 years to get out of league one, this was never going to be a easy season.

I'm not dismissing the opinion, but in which case... Who do you get in?
Its easy to come out and say: "Maybe Jones should be replaced", but the questions I'm asking here, still need answering

There's no way anybody else is going to come in with this squad and our budget and miraculously turn this around. At least not someone we could ever afford.
    Suck it up.
    In Jones we trust.

    Keep the faith

Nathan Jones was born to shithouse teams out of trouble.
  • Of course he shouldn't go, still well in credit, but his continual calling out of our fans last season did himself no favours with the fan base imo.

He can be held accountable for transfer activity. Not sure why that’s funny
I didn’t see too many questioning the transfer activity back in August?

Deserves the season regardless but does need to think about the reason why things aren't working.

The attacking situation has been poor all season, what has actually been done to resolve the problem?
  • Bad run of form, for sure. But if we sack jones now we deserve to go down. Keep the faith, let’s have a few bodies through the door in Jan that aren’t freebies and see where we are.

    Before a ball was kicked?

I'm sure there will have been posts from people going "This has been an 8/10 Transfer Window blah blah blah" it happens every single season - The same got said when we got Leko back one year... How any transfer activity can be truly judged until May is beyond me

For those who think he should go who do you realistically think should replace NJ?

    Gary Rowett or Liam Manning?
  • We won’t fire him, tied him down to a 5 year contract before the season. The owners have made their bed, whatever happens he will be our manager come end of season

Always worth remembering that there will be other teams who have sticky patches and nosedive too. Pompey, Oxford and Norwich won't continue an upwards trend all season. Blackburn will almost certainly falter and some team will have a key player picked off in January and then slide down the table. It's much more complicated than the fact we're in a rough patch

Don’t managers usually have clauses which mean they don’t get paid out in full when sacked?

I've just seen someone suggest Andy Woodman, can't wait for us to sign 34yr old Michael Cheek on deadline day

Probably but from all accounts wasn’t he getting a fair wedge from Southampton while he was out of work?

It’ll cost us a huge amount if we decided to sack him. Because of that I think we won’t

Andy Woodman is doing an unreal job for Bromley but not sure he’d be any good for us

I don’t think we will either but it doesn’t even make sense that it’s even being suggested - with our budget this was always going to be a tough season. We’re around where we expected, and arguably slightly higher.

I question that he has taken 4 months to give JRC a start, and played Docherty and Anderson in midfielder before him

Its a strange decision given how Costello played today, but lets not pretend as though he's exactly impressed in any of his other games this season, so its equally baffling where that performance came from.
I'm confused as most, as I really liked him in Pre-Season

Feels like there must be more to this, it’s clearly nothing to do with his ability on the ball vs Doc and Anderson (no surprise as NJ values that lower than most managers).

Literally nobody out there better suited to manage Charlton Athletic than NJ right now. He's still the man

Full assumption but I question if he's been carrying an issue, hindering his return to fitness.

Hopefully, JRC 's display tonight is Jones' Thiery Small at RWB moment from last season.

Still easily in credit. Just like last season NJ will get the team sorted out. Another nice run and we will be safe and sound. Ready to strengthen for next season.
I agree with "still easily in credit".

Still support him but the tactics and subs continue to baffle me at times. Still feels like it's a bit roulette wheel on lineups , I didn't see the Berry start tonight coming at all for example.

Last season it clicked once he landed on a settled team. Still searching for that so far. Injuries haven’t helped but there has been constant tinkering which hinders development of partnerships, teamwork and ultimately belief.

We knew it would be tough. We knew we’d hit a rough patch. Keep the faith.
