Predictable but actually not as bad as I thought it would be. Have I missed some communication regarding Terry Taylor. If he is simply dropped then I am more concerned about Jones intentions than I already was.
Taylor not Jones’s player, he only got picked recently due to injuries / internationals. Was always going to be dropped when other players returned.
And that's what winds me up. Drop him not because he has been rubbish - far from it, in fact - but because Jones doesn't fancy him.
Jones also didn't fancy May.
I'm not sure he is a great judge of players.
He is the only midfielder who has looked positive and looked like he belongs at this level. I am not saying he will elevate us to promotion chasing form but he has been the best midfielder since he has been in. That's probably not saying a lot. To not even get on the bench today is seriously poor management of our squad.
Any talk of sacking/removing Jones is premature until we are genuinely panicking about going down.
Give him the season, if we finish bottom half then say goodbye in the summer.
Has to be given another year at least for me, with a view to sacking him in November 2025 if there genuinely is no progression... Naturally agree with you that it would be ridiculous not to act if we get to March and we're genuinely panicking about going down.
January Transfer Window 2025: Is a chance to plug leaks in squads
Summer Transfer Window 2025: A proper chance to build on what we need, as better players should be available around then; January I always see as a time where teams get rid of players they truly dont want because they're shit, and signed by teams that are panicking.
If we dont get rid of Jones until the end of this season, then its too late... we'll already be behind everyone else, as we'll be going into a Transfer Window not just looking for new players but a new manager too. We'll be back to where we were with Garner, no one wanting to join as they wont want to commit without knowing that their own future is secure.
Definitely need to change our transfer strategy, as based on his signings so far we can't give him full control of the next two windows.

Agree that our Recruitment setup as a whole needs to change.
I'd like to see more individuals like Thierry Small and Kayne Ramsay signed, players that have been let go by Academies and either have a point to prove because they've been let go, or because they were let go, and are now showing their abilities at a slightly lower level.
We're too transfixed on bringing in names, who have been there and dun it...
My take is that Jones MUST know how shit this is. And therefore he needs another transfer window to show he can fix it. Leave it till summer and if we aren’t playoffs he’s got to go
" Nathan Jones felt the dismissal of skipper Greg Docherty changed the course of their 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town "
Yeah cause we were absolutely battering Huddersfield before that.
It was a fair comment from NJ, it did disrupt the play, and just after we equalised and got back into the game, of course we weren't "battering" them, but at the same time they weren't battering us either...
Jones so spot on ….. Jones says sending off changed the game just after we scored .. when asked about the sending off he said really don’t know where football going .. we had TC hacked to the ground that injured him v Wrexham and it’s a yellow that’s not a red today no way …
We were poor before the sending off. In fact we were better in the 2nd half playing with 10 men.
I wish someone would have the balls to ask Jones why we started the season with no width, with wingbacks who cant cross and midfielders who cant shoot or play in a forward.
At the match. Two poor teams running around in very poor conditions. Ref was rubbish as normal and I thought the sending off was harsh. There was no intent to harm. He was just too late. The penalty looked a bit soft but we should have had another in the second when Leaburn was wrestled to the ground. Could have got an equaliser second with a great move culminating in a brilliant header by Leaburn. Whilst this team lacks so much quality I was actually proud of the way they battled in the second half with 10 men. Getting worried about our league position. Stating the obvious but we need to start winning some games soon.

I just knew this would be an excuse. Easy get out. Our equaliser was out of nothing. Our issues are a lot deeper than a sending off. Performances have been far below sub par. Just so frustrating.
Of course a sending off changes the game at 1-1. We have to ask whether it was justified and I don't think it was. I think the game is messed up when a player with no intent tries to clear the ball and whilst the contact was hard, it wasn't dangerous with studs showing. Jones is right that cynical chops are not punished but an innocent failed clearance with no ill intent is.
I don't believe the ref saw it properly and went on their player's reaction. I also thought our late free kick wasn't a free kick which sums the ref up. Not a cheat but not very good. I have said for a while that we can't complain too much as we are in League One and this is the quality of official you get at this level.
No sensible owner would give the people they entrusted to bring success to the club more money to spend on the first term squad given they're track record of recruitment so far. We either had a big L1 budget and blew it, or had a small budget and didn't back the manager. It can't be both. Which is true I'd like to know because I genuinely don't know with opinions on here being so divided?
I don't think we are as bad as we look. We are missing two or three players and the skill of the manager and his team is knowing who those players might be within our budget.

Unless there's a sharp upturn by the end of the season in both playing style, performance and results then absolutely not. One full season is enough time to see if Jones has a handle of this squad, it's more than simply plugging gaps at this stage.
This is some of the worst quality I've seen in a very long time and that's down to Jones' style of play. If he isn't getting results then it's not even worth persevering with. We will hemorrhage support playing this anti-football style sitting in the bottom half for all of 2025.

It'll be the league 2 play-offs at the rate we are going, & I'd even question that.
I would not regret Jones going, but lets be honest there no outstanding manager out there who could get a tune out of this club. One thing I am starting to wonder is do we a professional scouting / recruiting management team. For years now we regularly fork out large sums and long term contracts on duds. So lets get in a proper structure such as Brentford have had for a Decade or more, and second maybe managers should not be too involved in the recruitment.
Do we need an outstanding Manager though? Us fans can see the problems and how we should/shouldn't play... Must be a 'professional' that can see that too? Take a punt on an upcoming young manager?

Obvious when you think of it. Bound to work. Actually just put one of us fans in the job. Problem solved.
No why, learn not to choose managers on dubious past records, we need a younger manager who understands the game as it is now not how it was, the clubs attitude needs updating.
How about getting better players?
If only it was so easy... All the talk about having the fourth biggest budget in the League (as mentioned by others). But since Jones came in, two of our best players Ramsay and Small have cost a combined 200k (If you believe TransferMarkt) with one being a Free Transfer.
Whilst one of our worst signings could end up costing us 1m, if you believe rumours
I not sure that the jury has returned regarding Ahadme FA but there are some other signings that deserve scrutiny. Five years ago Luke Berry, Alan Campbell, Dan Potts, Danny Hylton and Greg Docherty would have been very good signings, five years is a long time in a players career and they are clearly reaching the Autumn of their careers and in Hylton's and Potts case they probably can't believe their luck. In all but one of those cases, those players were brought in because they 'get 'Nathan Jones' and they have all performed well for him in the past, but the past is the past and there are no guarantees about the future. Apart from Potts and Hylton, the rest have been left out at some point through a lack of form, and certainly nobody on here would imagine that they have performed consistently well so far this season. My point is, these were the players that Jones wanted, and my view is that they were brought in because he could trust them, but that's five players, who have arguably, been our worst performers this season and all apart from Hylton would have been drawing a championship wage or higher last season. We are doing no better than last season, I would like to ask what has, possibly, the five highest earners in a massively inflated squad, brought to this club ?
If you asked me before the season started if we would even get a point away to Huddersfield i'd have said maybe but probably not. Even if we were in the top 2.

Exactly. I never understand the meltdowns after results against teams you’d never expect us to beat or even take a point off anyway.
Over to you, secretive bunch of multi-squillionnaire owners completly invested in our unerving ability to be a midtable third division waste of space letting down the very people who have invested hope, years and blood toil tears and sweat over!

I'd wait a few more matches. Then buy one for the first half of the season.
