Personlly my main concern is if Coventry picks up an injury, with TT gone we have no natural cover in the CDM role. Doc can probably do a job there but its not ideal and means us starting Karoy every game and he just isn't ready in my opinion.
That's Doch's more natural position. And Z. Mitchell an option there also.
  • Don't think we will sign any more. Not an awful window considering we have (at this stage) kept hold of all key players, moved out some dead wood, signed a player in an area we need improvement and extending Lloyds contract.

If we can follow that up with getting Thierry tied down I will be pretty happy.

Concerns around cover in CDM and out wide - if we could bring in cover there I would push it from a 6/10 window to an 8/10.

Be nice to loan one out and get one more in. That will be a good window for me.

I'm going to restate it! I can 100% assure you all we have not had further contact over Jellis, hope that helps.

I’d be surprised if we don’t bring in one more today tbh

    Loan in then.

I’ve a gut feel they’ll be another departure today.

    Day of Cawley watch ahead
What are you expecting, one of our better players to be sold?
No I don’t think so as if that was the case I would have been expecting Methven & co to have been leaking the interest.

Only gut feel, but wouldn’t be surprised with another periphery out, probably on loan. An Ahadme / Edmonds Green / Mitchell
The numerous comments about interest in TC bothers me, a lot.

The early announcement leads you to believe that there will be one, otherwise you think they’d leave a bit longer. Also lots of clubs will state that they are done for the day

    Irreplaceable this window.
  • I think we'll bring in one more winger that could potentially play upfront as well, Cornick wouldn't surprise me but I'd prefer someone a bit younger and quicker even if it is just a loan.

If the owners really want to show that they ‘get’ Charlton then they will sell TC and Leaburn five minutes before the window closes.
    And sign a Matt smith

Ha! Of course. I actually work with a Matt Smith and I might go and check on his whereabouts.

Edit: He told me he had a ‘busy day ahead’ which sounds ominous.

Don’t think we will sell unless we got a silly offer that’s too good to turn down. Even then you’d hope we can get him on a loan back till end of season as replacing him at this hour would be very tough

Seems like an ideal loan for Zach providing they play him.

As far I understand, we haven't gone back in for Cornick this window after we made an approach in the summer and couldn't even get close on wages. Remains to be seen if that situation has changed and we go back in for him at the end of the window, after he's barely seen the bench this season. But not one I would expect personally and tbh I'm not gutted about that at all.

  • Really need another CM or CDM now. Midfield has zero depth.

Someone earlier said we'd turned down a £2m bid for TC already. An offer above that for someone who has only played League One football as a winger (albeit very well) would be a massive gamble anyway. I would assume that would be from a League One side that he's already tore a new one...

However, power is with the players, and if it's a bid that turns a players head, best to let them go. We seem to have a tight group, better to have someone who wants to stay, than someone who doesn't...

Would expect the only way Cornick happens is Bristol City pay him off and he joins us until the end of the season as a free agent.

Not really been that enthused by the idea of signing him anyway.

    Coventry, Docherty, Anderson, REG…

Has Zach Mitchell played in Midfield for the first team yet? - Other than us thinking he could do a job there, he's always been seen as a Defender.

One injury and it's all tits up, Coventry will get a suspension of 2 games too, REG isn't a central midfielder that helps you get into the playoffs

Would still want another midfielder regardless of anything going on with Zach. Just feels like we're asking for trouble without an extra option.

I've always said Charlton fans massively over rate Miles.

The player we can least afford to lose today imo is TC.
Both are of huge value to us. If we lost either of those two, it would seriously hamper our chances of making top 6 imo

Honestly, don't know what some of you want.. It is the most stable the club has been years. We are in touching distance of the play offs, Jones is in control of what he wants. Since the day he came in, he said he wants smaller, fighter and hungry squad.

Yes we need to add one or two.. As long as they can make an impact. But the constant negativity to ownership is all a little boring now!!

We have rejected a bid close to 2 million for TC. Clubs are asking about Leaburn and knocking them back..

Do you think the ownership was responsible for Campball, Hyton and Potts signings? Suppose that was Scott's doing right.

    Get real!!

well said and spot on ….

That would be an odd one. Zach is one of the few other players you would think could realistically play in the deepest midfield role if something happens to Coventry. REG is too erratic and I don't even think Docherty would provide the control and calm we expect from Coventry in that role. Even with Gilbert we've only got 5 midfielders and I would very much not love a 3 of Docherty/Gilbert/Berry or Docherty/Anderson/Gilbert

We’ve barely seen him used there for us, but REG has played in midfield in the championship before. Can’t really judge it until we’ve seen it for us but he could be a good option there

Ideally we sign another but with Berry and Gilbert too we have a good amount of midfielders so I don’t think it’s that likely

Actually feel the complete opposite. Think everyone we want to stay stays and the only way someone goes is if silly money is offered.
    I agree
