  • Does anyone know the situation regarding Harry Cornick? Been radio silence since he was initially linked!
Wouldn't shock me if the player coming in his him on loan until end of season

I like Terry Taylor but some of the comments on Twitter are frankly a bit much. You’d think we had loaned Northampton a prime Luka Modric.
I remember someone tweeting that Bakinson was 'mustard' after a couple of appearances last season.  I do genuinely think that our expectations have been so lowered and eroded over the years, that we've forgotten what really good looks like and have been overly accommodating to what largely, have been a very mediocre bunch of players.

Seems to be getting worse every season as well
Isn't Bakinson playing fairly regularly in a promotion chasing team? Just saying...
He is.  Is he ‘mustard’ - no.

Are most of the players we’ve had over the last few years have been poor or at most average, a few exceptions of course.  I do feel that this has impacted some people’s views on what good looks like

My point is that teams are usually more than the sum of the parts. We've had players in squads that got promoted before now, that were nowhere near "mustard"

We didn’t win any of the games he started this season. Have seen some say he’s our best midfielder which is just mental
Was a decent passer. Set Pieces were overrated and he shirked a tackle. Not good enough, pleased he’s been moved on

Standards have slipped, I don't think there can be any debate about that. Some players have proved they weren't even good enough for L1, let alone a L1 promotion push.

I think it’s more about not knowing what else is out there.

Came off the bench. He did play well there and in other games. But standing out during our terrible run was not hard
  • No clues on this midfielder then?

Correlation isn't necessarily causation. Those results were far more attributable to the tactical approach we were adopting than the individuals being selected to execute those tactics.
But maybe some of those tactical decisions were made to fit TT & CC in the same team

Think we improved because of the introduction of more width which has made everyone look better. Not so much to do with the midfield combo.

I think it's a bit of both. Taylor is comfortable on the ball, took dangerous set pieces and has a good range of passing, but I think the issue is he's not energetic and aggressive enough for what Jones wants in that DM role. Coventry's passing isn't as ambitious as I'd like it to be, but he gets stuck in more than Taylor and is busier in how he gets around the pitch with tackles and interceptions.

Wonder if the midfielder is that Hungarian lad who was rumoured? Forget the name now..

According to that picture, we should be going back in for him around January time, meaning now would be the time
    Mihaly Kata.

    16 appearances this season - 0 goals, 0 assists

    His season heat map below.

Would suggest he’s more Coventry / Docherty competition than Berry, which is what we all know we want and need.

In fairness he's captaining the side at 22 and they are 4th in the league.  I watched a bit of footage of him in the summer and he did look useful.

He's also in the national team with some pretty big names so he's rubbing shoulders with some real talent.

IF he is the one we are looking at he'd be welcome IMO

Looks good in FM for L1, but seems to be a similar player to Coventry, which the heatmap and lack of goals and assists backs up.

Going on what Jones said about attacking signings, I'd be surprised if we bring in Kata or a similar type of player this window.

He's got two legs... or so I've heard, and he apparently likes playing Football

What? Booting the ball over their heads constantly? I don't think so.
  • Can't see it being Kata , doesn't fit the profile of what we really need. Would be interesting if we did start shopping in the European market but I expect this mystery midfielder to be a domestic based player.

Hopefully it's a permanent of someone we can build around long term.

We can discount Jacko then, his legs have gone.

They went ages ago, maybe if we all had a look, we could find 'em again...🙄

You'll never make the stage mate.
  • I am completely mystified by those on here who keep on saying we should be getting another keeper
NJ has woken up to the fact that AMB is better than both Isted ( completely useless) and now Mannion
The only weakness in his game is distribution but as a keeper who saves goals he is very good.
So long as the defence in front of him remains solid
he is a perfectly good keeper at this level and I would argue / Championship too - if we ever get there !!!!

Woah, steady on FA, but of a giveaway there!
