  • Can't see MVG getting more than 2 sets
  • Quite happy with my betting on this years
had littler at 5/2 so have now backed mvg at 2/1 to gaurantee profit regardless of result, hoping for a littler win and a good game last nights semis were quite poor imo.
  • Can't see MVG winning but the pressure is more on Littler. A good start is crucial.
  • If Littler can handle the occasion, and setbacks, he'll outplay MVG and win by 2 or 3 sets purely on darting ability. The case for MVG is more to do with expecting him to have a strong game throughout, he's battle-hardened, but to win that's surely got to coincide with Littler buckling at some point in his biggest test yet. There's value in MVG at 2/1, tempted to have some of that, but hoping we see the very best of Littler and that only has one outcome! Me and the boy will be watching at the care home with @GlassHalfFull, looking forward to a great evening.
Looking forward to it and best wishes to @GlassHalfFull

Watching the Dobey v Price game in the packed away pub in Crawley was quality. Some bloke threw a 180 in the pub as well!
I've been in a game with a 180 - thrown by the other bloke, unfortunately.  Best I've ever done is 140.
Only thrown a couple of 180's in our dartboard in the canteen when i worked at Rosyth Dockyard. The guy i was playing on one of those occasions threw another 2 in whilst mine were still in the board.
My mate Raph, threw a 180 in a club competition and gave it the nonchalant finger-wag on his way to collect his tightly grouped arrows. Problem was, he only needed 160. The chalker did one of those big fat zeros.....

Was playing away for The Antigallican against The Old Friends opposite Greenwich Hospital a few days before Christmas (probably early 80s). A teammate, Patsy Coughlan, was just starting his singles game and threw the first dart in treble 20, as he threw his second dart, again treble 20, a Sally Army brass band burst through the doors, continued playing and started to walk around the pub (only a small pub) with their collecting tins - Patsy moved away from the oche with his first two darts still in the board. About ten minutes later they left and Patsy walked back to the oche and threw his third dart - the shouter exclaimed "one hundred and eighty".

    True story!

Think (and hope) Littler will win, but that it'll be closer than that - I'll go 7-4.

Could be interesting if MVG gets ahead though and Littler has to chase, pressure is a funny thing.
  • Should be a cracking final.

MVG has been playing excellent, Littler we expect it, but MVG hasn't been as good recently but he's been immaculate on his set play this WC.

His win v Rydz where Rydz was the first person ever to average more, win more legs, more 180s, higher % on doubles and still lose shows that MVG can still triumph- wouldn't be surprised if Littler did something similar tonight. Them crucial one dart at a double legs will be the difference here I feel.
  • True pressure is a funny thing. I just don't see the MVG of old when he was at his peak but you never know...
    7/1 Littler

  • Isn't this usually played on a Sunday ?

Can't see anything other than a Littler win

Don't know if there are any stats for it, but I reckon he throws more 180's on his first visit in a leg than anyone else, and instantly puts them under pressure
  • Not sure if its always happened but many of the 180's i have seen this year would fit into an old sixpence. Phenomenal accuracy.
  • It MVG plays to his best he wins. It's just a question as to whether he can teach that level this evening
  • Can guarantee we won't see any of that nicey nicey fist bump nonsense either!
  • I think if Littler plays without a care in the world he wins comfortably tonight. Dont think MVG is half the player he used to be. 7-3 Littler

I think most would disagree with that.
If Littler & MVG both play their best, Littler should win as he is now the better player.
MVG peaked a few years ago.

If MVG plays well he may well beat Littler.
If Littler doesn't play well or nerves get the better of Littler.
    I'll go 7-4 to Littler.
  • Littler at his best wins but swayed by the occasion and the value in the odds, I've gone MVG 7-5 at 10/1.

Blimey I remember Patsy when (I think) he was at the Liberal club which must’ve been late 80s.
I played for the Yorkshire Grey against his 2 sons Colin? and Steve? in Plumstead and district league.
One of his sons beat me in the singles final one year. By the time of the final I was really feeling the beer but remember we had to be the 2 youngest players in the league at the time and there was plenty of ‘seasoned’ players that didn’t sit well with.

Not a league match but a fella bust 180 and 140 in the same leg against me. Both occasions he was throwing his last dart for single twenty and it got dragged in to the treble.
A few weeks later against the same fella I hit my one and only 170 check out to date, though also not a league game.

    Anyhow, back to tonight.
Most of the top players are capable of unplayable sets but littler has them more often than the others so unless he has a meltdown, I think he wins by 2 or 3 sets.

If you look at it purely from a numbers perspective then yeah, but I think MVG with a ton plus average will own the occasion. Should be a great match either way
  • Before last night's semi-finals Sky put up a table of the players with the most 100+ averages in the tournament's history:

    Phil Taylor ... 56 (25 appearances - highest 111.21)
    MvG ... 40 (18 - 114.05)
    Gary Anderson ... 23 (16 - 108.39)
    Peter Wright ... 16 (16 - 105.86)
    Adrian Lewis ... 15 (18 - 106.51)
    Michael Smith ... 15 (14 - 106.32)
    RvB ... 14 (18 - 109.34)
    Rob Cross ... 10 (8 - 107.67)
    Luke Littler ... 8 (2 - 106.12)

(No, I didn't memorise this table - I'd recorded the darts last night so quickly put it on my screen so I could type it out here!)

You can add another 100+ average to MvG's and Littler's totals above after their wins last night.

Littler's into 9th place on the all-time list and it's only his second bloody tourney! Phenomenal stuff.

I expect both players to average over a ton this evening with Littler edging it.

  • Should get them 2 to find each other would look good together with the signs
