Is that new Sky Xmas caper film with Lee Mack as much of a Home Alone rip off as the trailer suggests?

Some good films there. Is The Meg really that bad?
  • Avoid Love Actually?!!! Are you mad!
    Quite.

Have to watch it just for Kiera Knightley 😉
Being picked up by the ‘murcan girls who are so poor they have to share a bed and can’t afford pyjamas is one of the funniest scenes committed to celluloid.

It may be me but I can’t see anything with that title on Netflix? Is there a fuller title?

A much shorter version as all that hijinks is condensed into the final half an hour or so. Painfully unfunny with piss poor “acting”

The haunting is on tonight on BBC 2.

Scorsese rates it as the best horror film.
Spielberg said it's a subliminal film of his youth.
Stephen king rated it as one of his favourites and tried to get a remake. Unfortunately it was remade but not with king.

Some good ones there, I’ll go for American Gangster
  • Tenet, I bought that one on 4K. I had to watch it 3 times to get an idea of what was going on. Certainly won’t be watching that one with my wife. I don’t care much for Cloverfield either but all the others very nice.
Wonderful Life is the Christmas film for me.

Me and my son just looked at each after watching Tenet at the cinema and both said at the the same time. “WTF was that all about ? “
Nolan’s worst film by a country mile .

I'm glad I'm not the only with that view of a "master piece".

Chicken run on soon. Probably another one I could add to the animated film thread.

I watched it at home and was glad I hadn't wasted time and money on it at the cinema.
I enjoyed it, but it's definitely "James Bond for people who've watched too much Doctor Who", and if that's not your kind of thing then it's probably not worth your time. A couple of things that helped me were
    1) watching it at home so I could have the subtitles on, which made the dialogue easier to parse, as the sound levels were a bit weird.
    2) I'd previously come across the Sator square, which is a Roman word puzzle (see below), and so when Sator and Arepo were mentioned fairly early on I had some idea of where things might be going
    S A T O R
    A R E P O
    T E N E T
    O P E R A
    R O T A S

I think Cloverfield is a very good monster movie.

I loved it when it came out . A low budget film with low expectations. Even the couple of follow ups were good too .

It's one of those films that's too "clever" for it's own good. I only got about 15 mins in the first time I watched it but about 2/3 of the way through the second time, before I realised I just didn't care how it ended so turned it off (and I'm one of those that will always watch a bad film to the end).

I can see where people are coming from with Tenet but I liked it.
Its worth watching a couple of times to fully get it. But of course you would need to be willing to give the time.
And there's an argument that a film should be understandable from one watch!

Watched In Bruges for the first time when off sick a couple of months ago, great film.

We’re going for Click & Collect in a minute. Mainly because it’s only 53 minutes long!

Watched C&C last night, hadn't seen it before.

Not a classic but decent enough and as you say, short!
