Yep, so easy to get a finale wrong but that was bloody perfect.

Was a bit worried early on, but it recovered well and was a fitting finale

Thought it was very good. Still can't believe baby Neil is 16 !  Doesn't time fly. Hope that IS the last one ever and they dont keep reeling out "specials" every 5 years. Know when to bail out.

Just hope that actually was the finale. Ended it perfectly and I hope there's no temptation for them to revisit it or some spin-off series
  • Thought it was a tidy ending.
  • Very flat to begin with, the stag and hen dos were cringeworthy, but the ending was perfect.

i was a bit worried we might have been getting an ending inspired by Robert Altman’s The Wedding.

Thought it was great apart from a bit of a lull halfway through. The details of the fishing trip not being revealed was the right move. Brilliant TV.

Thought it was very good indeed, so often these things can end as a damp squib and disappoint.
  • Thought it was brilliant. Was worried they’d go woke but the writers held their nerve.the photo at the end was just epic. Alas, probably the last xmas special of the great British sitcoms.

I loved it, but sad that it's the last one. I feared that something would happen to make it impossible to have another programme, it didn't, so if they want to do another, they could.

I never thought "Chinese" would be mentioned again as not very pc.  Very enjoyable end to a very enjoyable series.

Yeah. Me and the missus watched it when got home from my mums.

Thought is was great even though followed pretty much the exact same storyline as we expected beforehand

where did Neil the baby disappear to, for that final group photo? He was with them in the pub but not in the photo

Started flat but ended well. Great end to a historic series.

Pretty much the perfect ending to a perfect Christmas Day.
  • Sorry, going against most (all?) other opinions here, I thought it was just OK with a predictable ending. Worth watching though.

But it was the predictable ending that everyone wanted

Really enjoyed it, Pete and Dawn were brilliant. Perfect ending to it as well, just how it’s the last one.
  • It reminded me of the old days with a truly special Christmas special. I fear, as already said, that it may be the last of the last of great British sitcoms. What else comes close? Outnumbered? Not Going Out? They just don’t have the same lovable characters. I thought that the character of Ness really shone.
I don’t agree that the middle lagged. Do some say this because the stag and hen nights didn’t work out? I thought that part was very well done, culminating in the conversation between Smithy and Ness at KFC.
I couldn’t believe that over an hour and a half flew by so quickly. It was brilliant.

Thought it was pukka from start to finish. Daves coaches was a surprise even though it was obvious gwen was getting it on with some fella. Pete and Dawn top notch as always. Unlike the previous Xmas special, this is one I could watch again and again.

Was a brilliant finale for a series of much loved characters.
earlier in the day I watched on channel 5 the rundown of the best Xmas specials over the years and we have been truely blessed it’s sad that I suspect we won’t see anymore in future years.
for those interested the vicar of dibley beat only fools to the top spot 😂

As many have said its the end of a Christmas day tradition...can't think of another sitcom that will follow it ..from now on it's reality programmes and a double dose of eastenders. A lovely ending but a bitter/sweet moment
  • I thought it was fantastic a lot of detail nod to the past and some great acting

One or two went on too long - Only Fools, Royle Family but I don’t think we will be seeing this again it was the perfect ending to arguably the second best sitcom of all time
  • Loved it.

Yeah, I'm with you. Felt it was a bit dull and predictable really.  As ever, Larry lamb, Alison Steadman and Melanie Walters are the actors that keep the whole thing afloat and the irritating Rob Brydon is the one that tries to sink it.  Classic jumping of the shark but at least they seem to have realised that.
  • Rounded off a wonderful Xmas day, they got the send off spot on!
  • Thought the first half an hour was pretty bad, did get worried it was going to be a letdown.

But from the moment Gavin and Stacey walked in on Pete and Dawn, it was really good.  Superb ending to a fantastic series.

Thought that and Wallace and Gromit were great Christmas TV.

It's good to go out on a high anyway, but I also think with Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb in their late 70s there comes a point when you leave it.
