If he had that chance again, I think that he would have taken an extra step to get in line with the ball because he was falling over rather than diving. It's the early movement of the feet that makes catches down the legside look so regimental.
That said, Smith has enough runs in the bank to afford the odd mishap although he would be a happier man if Sudharsan was gone sooner rather than later.

One of those weird things that if Smith had of taken that, Gill might not have been out LBW.
Good session on the whole, a couple of quick ones after tea and we are in a great spot.
Smith’s keeping so far has been fine. If he drops a few more, and i still would like to see how he does on one of the recent Indian bunsens, then the option of bringing in a new keeper might arise, and even then he'd still play, but as a batsman only.

I wasn't suggesting for one minute that keepers aren't allowed to make the odd mistake but merely pointed out that he will be very disappointed, from a technical perspective, when he looks at it again. Dinesh Karthik just mentioned the same thing about taking that extra step. Smith should, indeed, be one of the first names on the team sheet regardless of whether he keeps or not as he is an exceptional talent.
That injury to Pant has effectively meant the new ball might not get taken this evening. If it does there will probably be only a couple of overs left.

Smith drops an easy catch (Sudharsan) off Stokes.
To elaborate it isn't Atherton or Broad.
