Been saying this literally for years ..... when we get a free kick in or around the centre circle, slow down and take your time. We seem to be in a rush all the time. We so often take a quick kick, knock it about a bit and back to the keeper. It's such a waste. Take it slow and get it in the box !!

23 games played and 34 points attained.

Need 41 from the remaining 23 to get to the 75 mark that’s usually needed for top six.
Brum, Wycombe, Wrexham & Stockport all away from home will be a tough ask
On the other end though, that means there’s plenty of poor teams still to come to the Valley where picking off three points consistently will be critical.

We can do it. 12 points from the last six with only two goals conceded and four clean sheets so recent form is tracking the right way.
Win all our remaining home games and pick up a point at every away equals 79 points.

    It’s not going to happen.

Blame first half of season for our downfall .
Blimey. Sack the rest of the season off then. See you in August!
Come back to me in August.

Anything other than a play-off finish is failure.
No its not they want  an improvement on last season as the first step in the process.… top 10 would be an improvement.……

what the last 4 games has shown, is that we have a solid 11 players who have started these four games. But very little after this to replace them.

We do have someone who can deliver a deadball accurately.

    Terry Taylor.

Only problem is Jones doesn't rate him.
Could maybe argue he should be on the bench but he just isn’t good enough for the starting eleven

Surprised by all the positive comments today because this was a major hoof-ball contest with the ball being in the air most of the time. When we started to play on the ground more for the last 30 minutes or so, we began to dominate. Mind you, it is good to see a determined Charlton side.

Lastly, Campbell rolling around on the deck long after being flagged was hilarious. GREAT finish but nicely comical too. One for the dressing room fines' committee, that one. Ps...he didn't have a bad game at all....very wholehearted.
Annoyingly they cut to the lino flagging before the attempted knee slide on the ITV coverage, but a kind soul on twitter clipped it up for the enjoyment of those of us who missed the game.

the minutes applause for the dead should have been at 2.50 before the players comeout not at 2.58 so as not to have to rush it at the end before kick off

I enjoyed that today.   We were SO much better than we have been.   Gillesphey weak link.   Keeper's distribution is poor.  But we worked damn hard.

Jones (Lloyd) brilliant.  TC worked tirelessly.  Leaburn caused them problems.  Small needs a little more composure

    Left sided centre half
    Attacking midfielder
    Goalkeeper (Reading's preferably)

    PLEASE

Their GK couldn’t kick and all the saves he made were  because the shots ended up being comfortably in reach
And he fumbled a cross straight to the feet of Leaburn. I’d be gutted if we signed him.

The biggest question of the day. Did those 50 pissed up Reading get to the Antigallican, and did they order peanuts or pork scratchings?

Happy to be critical when it's deserved but overall there are 0-0's and then there are 0-0's, and this was a 0-0.

Great performance and a good unbeaten run over the last few games. Unfortunately our poor form over Sept to early Dec has given us too much to do in the 2nd half of the season to reach the playoffs. We would need to go on league winners form from here, and I just dont see that happening. Ultimately I think we will finish around 10th.

We are only two points behind the 20/21 and 17/18 teams which finished 7th (on goal difference) and 6th respectively.

Entertaining last 30 as Reading tired, but up to then, they were the better team. We lack quality. Bad first touches, poor passing, rushed finishing and no creativity going forward. Maybe the pitch is a factor, or maybe it's just mid-table League One football. I imagine we are coming out of this seasons purple patch now. Rotherham away will be tough.

Your optimism/wumming will be slammed in your face if the s*** hits the fan at the end of the season.

    The better team? I dissent.
We restricted them to fcuk all, made them look fairly ordinary and the only opportunities they had were as a result of our errors.  They created nothing.
They could have had no complaints if we had come away with a 1-0 or 2-0 win.
We failed to win by dint of lack of composure in front of goal, poor final ball, wrong choices.
Maybe we have turned a corner in the last couple of weeks, or maybe we are just a couple of key players better off.
We are certainly a better watch now. I enjoyed that as 0-0s go.

The problem is that dead ball situations are the only thing he does do, in a Jones formation/set up. He's not as defensively sound as Coventry, he's not particularly dynamic and doesn't really suit a pressing game.

He's a very good player but doesn't fit into the way that Jones wants to play sadly. He'll probably be very good at this level and maybe even higher but he's not kept out of the squad just out of spite and stubbornness. Good player but at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Small is the biggest enigma in the side. 80% of what he does is utterly brilliant & the other 20% is absolutely horrendous 😂😂
I’ll take the 80%.  Him and Campbell are the reason why we’ve somewhat improved .
Oh absolutely he’s great. Just has some very funny brain fades
He wouldn’t be in league 1 if he had consistent end product
His end product is consistent, and woefully poor. I can’t remember a player who promises so much in the build up, and delivers so little.

    I guess I have two questions…

    1. why do you think I’m being a wind up?
    2. why would anyone want to slam this in my face at the end of the season?
Was also mystified by that one. Probably drunk.

4 year plan not only to get promotion but to have a string enough squad stay there and not be a Ho Ho club... Which acturally would be more damaging to the club if we went up to early..

Next time get a seat that can see the pitch... Reading were not in that game.. One effort in 95 mins and that was following a mistake by Leaburn.. We battered them secind half one the best 45 mins seen at the valley.. we were by far the better team, there keeper had one of them lucky days.

    Thank you, Santa.
  • I enjoyed the better passages of play like everyone else, but importantly when the game did turn scrappy - as it tends to in League One - we scrapped hard and won more than our fair share of 50-50s.

The players deserved their plaudits at the end - they'd really put in a shift.

Decent enough but a lack of quality when it mattered , their keeper got one in the nuts and was pony after that .
Were any of their handball shouts close , I thought we looked a bit John Terry handsy on occasions looking to charge down defensively .
Tremendous effort from our team but we didn’t really make much noise I could hear the Reading fans a lot more from halfway line .
TC was man of the match in the lounges .
Good day for thermals and golf hand warmer thingys , my toes struggled just a pair of old school ski socks and trainers on , inappropriate footwear for the conditions .

saw Shaun Derry a bit lost in the prawn sandwich areas and he was looking for the boardroom, just googled he was with O’Neil at Wolves till recently and has a 17.5 year old son in the palace academy , Jesse , who’s a winger and England u 18 international .

Well he was definitely in an offside position.

You then have to go to the rule book which changed last season I believe.

In addition, IFAB provides these indicators as to when a player "deliberately played" the ball:

    - The ball had travelled from distance and the players had a clear view of it
    - The ball was not moving quickly
    - The direction of the ball was not unexpected
    - The player had time to coordinate their body movement
    - A ball moving on the ground is easier to play than a ball in the air

I think you could put a X in a good few of those.

    Offside for me.

Thought it was an entertaining game and Reading gave us a few problems. They had loads of luck when the guy cleared it off the line looks like it just hit him rather than anything else.

Good to see Chiucks come on and give them something else to think about. Another day those chances go in but fair play to Reading they have a great set of youngsters, their manager walked out and their (are/were) under a transfer embargo.
