Here’s a scenario over the next four or five games:
- Charlton beat Lincoln and Northampton at home, drawing with either Mansfield or Cambridge away. +10pts
- Wrexham win two, draw one and lose one of their next four. +7pts
- Wycombe win two, draw one and lose two of their next five. +7pts
Heading into Easter Monday the table looks like:
- Wrexham 84pts
- Wycombe 81pts
- Charlton 79pts
Wrexham lose at Blackpool & Charlton win at Wycombe & suddenly the table looks like:
- Wrexham 84pts
- Charlton 82pts
- Wycombe 81pts
The following weekend, we’d go to Wrexham knowing a win means automatic promotion is in our own hands the next weekend against Burton.21 -
I admire the optimism but looking at Wrexham's form (6 clean sheets in 7) and their next 4 games all being against sides in the bottom 7, i think they'll be promoted before they play us.
I still fancy us to get 3rd though above Wycombe.12 -
selfishly hoping if we are in the play offs then we finish 4th and not 3rd....I'd miss the home leg0
-
I think we will go unbeaten for the regular season, winning five and drawing two, to end on 86 points.0

I think we'll finish 3rd. Can see us overtaking Wycombe but Wrexham are grinding out results at the most important time. Still important that we keep going for it as you never know but we will go into the play offs on a high which, as we've seen before, is important.
At this stage I would estimate our chances of eventually getting promoted at around 40%.3 -

The following weekend, we’d go to Wrexham knowing a win means automatic promotion is in our own hands the following weekend against Burton.Apparently Burton deserved something at Stockport and maybe going to Wigan won’t be so easy under their new manager. So I have some hope.We need at least one of them to turn Wrexham over, along with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. Hopefully Blackpool continue their good form and are still in the playoff hunt by that time.1 -
I do know the Manager, coaches and players have to believe they can win each game in our position but there may come a time when we have 3 games to go and still 8 points behind 2nd with an inferior GD that anyone carrying an injury is rested for one match over the last 3 games IF we are guaranteed at least 4th. That scenario may not occur and we may have to scrap it out until Burton at home to get 4th.
A tough call because no one will want to be rested even if they have a slight knock.
This is so much better than the mid table nothing to play for in League 1 by March.

If someone offered me 3rd, 3 points behind Wrexham with 2 to play, about to head away to play them I'd take it right now. Anything that means it's in our hands. Plus all the pressure would be on them, only need a draw to all but guarantee promotion. They keep finding ways to win right now though and their run-in is easier than most others, think we have to win every game until then to be in with any chance of being that close.2
-
I think Wrexham are set for 2nd. We should be giving everything to overhaul Wycombe and get 3rd. Secure the "easier" opposition and home 2nd leg.2

As it stands at present 85 points will garrentee a playoff spot.4

And even the home second leg isn't that important. Yes it massively helped the penalty shootout against Doncaster, but we actually lost the match on the night, whereas we comfortably won the 1st away leg.3 -
Given Wycombe and Stockport play in the last game of the season it would be just like the football gods to then make them immediately play twice more. So based on that alone I predict those two will either be 3rd and 6th or 4th and 5th.3
-
I don't think it applies to us but I still think 75 points will be enough to get 6th. What I look at when I say that is not how many points sixth place gets, but how many points seventh gets.1

- Charlton get 7 points from Lincoln (H), Northampton (H), Cambridge (A)
- Wrexham get 6 points from Burton (H), Bristol Rovers (H), Wigan (A)
- Wycombe get 6 points from Reading (A), Huddersfield (A), Stevenage (H), Bolton (A)
And the rest as is.2 -
Wrexham away to Blackpool the game before they play us - that could be the key week with us at Wycombe the same day. Blackpool look like they are going to be fighting for play offs and haven't lost many this season.
In fact Wrexham's last few looks a little bit tougher than we might have initially thought now - Burton are only a win away from moving out of the drop zone now, Bristol R are the team they are fighting, so they will be going full tilt. Blackpool as I said above and then even Wigan away isn't an easy place to go to even without much to play for- certainly if it were our next 4 i'd be seeing potential banana skins in all 4 of them. Plus being the incumbents for pretty much the whole season means all the pressure is on them.2 -
Lincoln in 12th become the first team in the top half who can't mathematically catch us.7

I think the top 5 are now nailed on, leaving 5 teams fighting 6th.
Birmingham winning League 1 is a given, leaving 4 teams fighting for 2nd.
I think 2nd place will go to the wire & wont be settled until the last game of the season....or maybe the week before if we lose at Wrexham.
Still so much you play for. Cant believe Burton's run in. Would like to think they are safe / down by the time we play them.
Not sure I cant take all this stress. Why cant we have a season like last year when it was boring & we could coast the last few games 😆.4 -
