MuttleyCAFC said:If we have to settle for the play offs, there are 4 teams in them so that should mean a 25% chance of promotion. But we have to beat 2 teams so technically are there not 3 teams in it from our perspective as one will get knocked out without playing us, so does that mean our chances are 33.3333% ? I'll just get an aspirin.
You need to play more board 🎲 games ;-0 -

It’s not in our hands directly, which is a shame of course. But if we take care of business and win all 3 of our games, that leaves:
- Wrexham needing 6 points from 2 games against Blackpool and Lincoln to finish above us.
- Wycombe needing 4 points from 2 games against Leyton Orient and Stockport to finish above us.
Considering Blackpool have only lost 1 of their last 14 at home, Orient are picking form up again and fighting for top 6, and Stockport are flying with 13 wins in their last 18… I’d say we give ourselves a very very good chance if we win all 3 games.24 -

We will beat Hollywood FC.
Good luck Addicks34 -
In 2014/15, Bournemouth celebrated promotion at the Valley in our last home game of the season.
In 2015/16, Burnley visited on our last home game and celebrated promotion.
In 2017/18, Blackburn rolled up to the Valley in our last home league game of the season and celebrated promotion.
This year another B team will visit the Valley in Burton, and we will celebrate promotion this time.
We are going to beat Wycombe, Wrexham, and Burton.
Wycombe will lose to Leyton Orient, & Wrexham will lose to Blackpool.
Charlton 88 points
Wycombe 87 points
Wrexham 86 points
Manifest it.19 -

Surprised that @Callumcafc hasnt reminded everyone (His standards are slipping!!) of the fact that if we win today, Wrexham will join the list of teams where we'll need to break our three wins on a trot curse... As we haven't won four games or more on the trot since 2020, and have had a number of opportunities this season as well.0 -
The fight for second is not over!!!

Its great to be still in with a chance of automatics but over 3 games we have a great chance in the play offs. On reflection though the only team I would have a tiny concern about is Orient funny enough.2

Heart says we can still get second.
Head is worried we end up 5th and away in the second leg!0 -
The playoffs will be a nervy time and the pressure will mostly be on us now. I'd love it if we can nick 2nd but I can't see it.
The playoffs would be something to anticipate more if we finished 6th by a slight margin as we'd be looking up instead of down.
We are certainly good enough to get out of this division and get back in the championship. Form wise, we're the 2nd best team in the league.
Just got to prove it when the pressure will be heavy.
27,111 sell out Valley is great. I hope the players make the most out of it and it helps
It is something they are not used to every week though . Hopefully it will just be a positive and not overwhelming for the youngsters.
I know they're professional footballers, but we nearly blew it against Doncaster 6 years ago.2 -
Our record against the current top six is pretty decent this season
Birmingham - 3-pts
Wrexham - 1-pt (Played them once)
---
Wycombe - 6-pts
Stockport - 2-pts
Orient - 6-pts
---
Reading - 1-pt (the one bad mark on the record)0 -
Need to get out of this League, if only so we arent playing teams who cant sell out a 9k stadium against a promotion rival. We sold our allocation in days yet Wycombe still had empty seats in their stands.11

Slightly annoying that today we've probably just secured Wrexham's automatic promotion but it does mean that if things stay as they are then two of the other teams on the Playoffs we beat home and away in the league. Can't be too may seasons where that has been the case1

Unfortunately I believe your right and the 'biggest winners' today are Wrexham who won't be as edgy against CAFC now after gaining all 3 points at Blackpool. The dropped points against the two stragglers will now be forgotten as they are now back in the driving seat.
It's just feels that despite our brilliant form over the last 25 matches or so the handicap of letting Wrexham get away from us and having the better goal difference may be too much BUT...
We dream on.

Beat Wrexham and they will need 3 points against a decent Lincoln. It's very much on.8

Their Burton penalty (even their fans considered soft), their Stockport penalty (and the red card to the Stockport man) that PGMOL apologised to Challinor over. Of course there will always be a touch of luck when you're flying high with decisios
I dont recall what I said about Wrexham's chances either this coming season, so you can leave off with that one!! - Regardless I'm not one to give a shit if my predictions are right or wrong either way.1 -
With our game against Wrexham on Saturday night plenty of the what-if scenarios will be settled before we play.
We'll know...
Will a Wrexham win secure them second place?
Will Wrexham need to beat us just to reclaim second place?
Will us beating Wrexham see us leapfrog Wycombe?
Will us beating Wrexham confirm top 4?
What isn't dependent on other matches is if we don't beat Wrexham we ain't finishing second.4 -
There is absolutely no pressure on us next week. This manager and team will relish all the attention being on Wrexham and having the chance to ruin it. We are very difficult to play against nowadays and with the likes of Jones, Edwards, Coventry, Godden and Docherty we have an edge and a bit of nastiness about us.Wrexham aren’t in the best of form and will feel the expectation. Our week in training will be very positive whilst theirs will be about managing the pressure. They will be more worried about us than we will be about them.10
