So you're saying that all our recent owners have been Millwall fans then?

Reading about his supposed interest in Liverpool,  I see that ’As well as the north west, Musk also has relatives elsewhere in England’.
What if he had family in SE London / NW Kent?
Who would want Charlton’s current owners to  contact him?

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14259961/Liverpool-fans-unite-response-Elon-Musk-desire-buy-Premier-League-leaders.html
I've stuck with this fucking team through thick and thin. Mainly thin. It won't happen, of course - but if this incel bond villain came anywhere near my club he will have achieved what several decades of futility, uselessness, bang averageness and moving 200 miles away could not. I'd start supporting some Northern team.
So Musk comes in, invests 200m into us, buys the stadium, we find ourselves in the Premier League in 3-4 years time, we're absolutely flying, he expands the stadium to 40k, we're big news everywhere because of our owner...........and you'd disappear to go and support someone else?

You wouldn't even watch our 2031 Champions league final v Real Madrid on tv?
You could have a Musk, Gates and Bezos consortium buy us and we'd still f*** it up.

No he's not. He has offered a lot to the world in terms of leading the charge (pun intended) on EV tech and also provides a lot to charities.
The word I used was ‘irrelevance’.
How do you think Musk has been relevant to me?
For someone who likes to talk a lot about the importance of being "woke" and against racism and other right wing causes it really would be a good idea for you to familiarise yourself with one of the greatest threats to that view.

Ignorance may be bliss but he's more relevant to you (or your purported views) than nearly anyone else on here.

I am aware of the threat he carries politically, but if I had mentioned that the usual group of people would accuse me of hijacking this thread.

I read his biography. He suffered severe  childhood trauma himself through years of dreadful bullying in South Africa. When his family moved to America  it started up again, Sadly.
Not sure what you read but I wouldn’t waste any tears. He bullied a child about the child’s father who had committed suicide and that child pushed him down a flight of stairs. Elon was not the innocent one there. His father, Errol, was a wealthy authoritarian South African bastard about town during Apartheid, who has set the record straight on much of Elon’s upbringing. His father has since married and had children with the step-daughter he raised from a young age with his second wife. So… there’s that.

His family didn’t move to America. He moved to Canada where his mum’s side of the family lived and then to America for schooling, where he overstayed his student visa to build startups with his brother. His banking app X was brought into to the early PayPal team to build a larger project for online payments. He was removed from PayPal CEO when the others realised he was a liability (they kicked him out when he was abroad on his honeymoon) but he made his first large fortune when the company was sold to E-Bay a little later. He then invested in Tesla and eventually wrestled control away from the founders and came to an agreement that included being able to name himself a founder.

Through all that, he’s shown himself to be a rich prick who’s become the richest prick simply because he’s ruthlessly driven. He’s now struggling to maintain his own origin myths.

This is a funny example of him trying to convince people he’s among the world’s best gamers (whilst clearly paying someone in Asia to do the work): https://youtu.be/6N-WW0UDrVQ?si=eU8htCoZxtkadriz

This again? The myth that absolutely refuses to die.

He hasn't done anything in 'EV tech'. He bought Tesla from its founders, and used (and continues to use) government subsidies to run his business. The taxpayer of the US is funding Musk - Tesla LOSES money selling cars. This is how they make 'profit':

    https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/31/investing/tesla-profitability/index.html

And the only reason he donates to charities is for tax purposes - the same reason most billionaires do. he doesn't even do what's 'required' of him there, either:

You could have a Musk, Gates and Bezos consortium buy us and we'd still f*** it up.
"Charlton Athletic are delighted to welcome Ben Garner back to the club for the start of the 2026/27 season.

Ben has a point to prove due to his time being cut short after steadily guiding the Addicks to mid table for the first half of the 22/23 season, and has wasted no time in making the changes, by bringing Mandela Egbo back to the club on a 3 year deal after he spent last season playing for Valletta FC in Malta.

Egbo is one of a number of players to join over the summer that fit the club's sustainable model of only signing players on free contracts, as the focus is on cutting costs and increasing revenue.  Jeff Bezos, majority shareholder said "Charlton is a great community club, and we will be looking to leverage that community history by striking up partnerships with local businesses and appealing to local people to get down to the valley and support their local team."

It's stated that Bezos, Musk and Gates are aiming for promotion to the Championship and hoping to break even, and absolutely none of their personal wealth will be ploughed into growing the club, simply covering the losses until which time the team achieves promotion to the Championship, with a rough timeline of 2030 being given as achievable.

The seasons starts this Saturday, and you've still got time to buy a season ticket ahead of the opener when we take on Shrewsbury at home"

To be fair to you he self-mythologises extensively, and until fairly recently pretty effectively too. The "real life Tony Stark/Iron Man" shtick was pushed pretty hard by him/his PR team and stuck quite well. Then the Thailand incident showed that actually, he was a dickhead. Then the Twitter debacle showed that he was in fact, a moron AND a dickhead.

And somehow he's pretty much managed to get worse since then.

Why anyone would 'LOL' a comment @Leuthabout a child going through bullying is beyond me.
His father owned a fucking emerald mine. We're not talking about a kid going to the local comprehensive and having his tie peanutted  :#
His old man was on GMTV a couple of days ago . What an ill informed racist moron . Just reminded me of the bigots in South Africa during Apartheid.

It's CNN and the New York Times, ffs. They're about as close to unbiased and accurate as you could possibly get. One of them is left leaning, the other right.

How DO you get your news on current affairs? Twitter? Telegram?

I quite enjoyed my School Meals. Especially when there were seconds and sometimes even thirds on the sponge pudding and custard.

Not sure how we reached school meals from a thread about Elon Musk but as that tangent has occured, can I just say I enjoyed Gypsy tart and Custard at School 😋

Since I was 15 I have on many occasions searched for a Gypsy tart but alas with no success; I took solace in having a spotty dick.

    Back to Elon Musk...
