I quite enjoyed my School Meals. Especially when there were seconds and sometimes even thirds on the sponge pudding and custard.

Not sure how we reached school meals from a thread about Elon Musk but as that tangent has occured, can I just say I enjoyed Gypsy tart and Custard at School 😋

Since I was 15 I have on many occasions searched for a Gypsy tart but alas with no success; I took solace in having a spotty dick.

    Back to Elon Musk...
Gypsy Tart is very easy to make. Failing that if you are ever in deepest, darkest East Sussex then Jempson’s stores sell Gypsy Tart.

The way people on here are claiming that the success of Tesla and SpaceX is nothing to do with Elon Musk is hilarious. As if the Model 3 and rockets were just sat there when he walked into the building.

He's done a lot of good with regards to electric cars, infrastructure surrounding electric cars, and the generation of clean energy. It's weird that people on the left hate him solely for his position on free speech. Yeah sometimes he says whacky things on Twitter but you have to look at his accomplishments as a whole.

He is absolutely agenious and a brilliant business.

But "whacky things"? He's calling for the US to invade the UK to remove Starmer's "dictatorship" for Christ's sake.
so not all bad then .....

    gets coat and runs

Mate of mine works for Tesla.
Says Elon is as mad as a box of frogs, gets a ridiculous amount of nonsense emails from him.
But the pay is good & gets to deliver Teslas to their owners.
Realises he could be sacked tomorrow but that's fine, always another job about.

I wouldn't want Musk anywhere near any football club in the UK.

    Ffs
He's not in favour of free speech, or he wouldn't censor stuff as soon as a suitably right wing govt asks e.g.Turkey.
See what happens if you write cisgender on twitter too.

According to sources, regularly mentioned by reporters, the "success" of both companies relies, other than on extensive Government subsidies, upon the companies having teams whose sole job is to keep him away from the planning and design processes.  Twitter is the first example of his own direct management style (and I'm not sure that a site that platforms open Nazis without any apparent concern is a good look), and then there is the delight of the Cybertruck (which is just a wonderful product that helps identify each village's idiot, by which I mean absolute bell-end, without the trauma of actually having to meet them).

In recent days he's been spending something like 16-17 hours a day tweeting hugely inflammatory shite (and is due to share a live stream today with a leading member the AfD, which I'd like to claim is a low point in his political activities).

He has accomplished the feat of becoming the World's richest absolute tosser.

Considering the usual abuse being handed out by one particular poster i am surprised this thread is still open. I am not advocating it should but Khans thread was closed for nothing.

Even looking at his achievements as a whole doesn’t stop him being a dangerous bellend. I’m sure Putin has done something impressive at some point but I still wouldn’t want him over for dinner.

Just for anyone happening by - there isn't a single post on this thread where anyone is being abused (except for Musk)

Reading about his supposed interest in Liverpool,  I see that ’As well as the north west, Musk also has relatives elsewhere in England’.
What if he had family in SE London / NW Kent?
Who would want Charlton’s current owners to  contact him?

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14259961/Liverpool-fans-unite-response-Elon-Musk-desire-buy-Premier-League-leaders.html
I've stuck with this fucking team through thick and thin. Mainly thin. It won't happen, of course - but if this incel bond villain came anywhere near my club he will have achieved what several decades of futility, uselessness, bang averageness and moving 200 miles away could not. I'd start supporting some Northern team.
Even though you live just outside Paris.

Deary me, so much has gone on that I forgot about that. Didn’t he get his feelings hurt because someone did the rescue before he could?

If if you don’t use Pay Pal, have a Tesla motorcar, and have never been on Twitter, Musk is an irrelevance
No he's not. He has offered a lot to the world in terms of leading the charge (pun intended) on EV tech and also provides a lot to charities.
This again? The myth that absolutely refuses to die.

He hasn't done anything in 'EV tech'. He bought Tesla from its founders, and used (and continues to use) government subsidies to run his business. The taxpayer of the US is funding Musk - Tesla LOSES money selling cars. This is how they make 'profit':

    https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/31/investing/tesla-profitability/index.html

And the only reason he donates to charities is for tax purposes - the same reason most billionaires do. he doesn't even do what's 'required' of him there, either:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/12/us/politics/musk-foundation-taxes-donations.html
Fair challenges I don't read American news outlets.
It's CNN and the New York Times, ffs. They're about as close to unbiased and accurate as you could possibly get. One of them is left leaning, the other right.

How DO you get your news on current affairs? Twitter? Telegram?

    Jesus Christ
    NYT, right wing?

And you say that others spread disinformation.

    Good Lord.

More because the man actually doing the rescue knew what he was doing and ridiculed Musk's lunatic and dangerous attempt at PR tweeted from a K-Hole induced fever dream.

And more the point also showed (by virtue of being actually knowledgeable about the subject) that Musk's submarine drone thing absolutely would not have worked even if it had been used first.

To which our whacky, free speech loving tech genius decided the mature and logical response was to accuse this person of sexually abusing children. What a scamp he is.

I'm told he hates being called Ellen which is quite funny and how I will refer to him from now on.

Same as his Orange friend who hates being called Mr Vice President (implying Ellen is actually holding the reigns).

Elon doesn't like nonces, or people who cover up for nonces, or people who enable nonces or people who do their utmost to ensure that the people who covered up for nonces don't get brought to justice for covering up for and enabling nonces.

A lot of people feel the same way and applaud the pressure that he has put on this (and the previous) cowardly, morally bankrupt Government to try and get them to stop putting the interests of nonces and their enablers above those of the victims.

    Not many hereabouts, though, obviously.

Silly me - I hadn't realised that criticising Ellen equaled being an apologist for nonces.

As someone who previously thought he was pretty interesting/pioneering, that mask has completely slipped over the past few years (not just the past few weeks)

He's just a junkie with a shitload of money.

    Many such cases.

He thought nothing about the safety of Jess Phillips who has campaigned all her life for the protection of women and girls.

His inflammatory words could incite others to do her harm.

He is a very dangerous man.

I've not read the thread, but if Musk had any involvement with our club, that's me done after 65 yrs of support. Success at any cost...not for me. The man is a nasty piece of work and despite his billions he's got that through nicking other people's ideas, for example Tesla and Space X. He's a dangerous rich man with the morals of  a weasel!
