Nathan Jones got it wrong today. The set up was all wrong with Anderson on the left and that’s the reason we were so devoid of ideas. Anderson obviously did not feel comfortable there and had a poor game as a result. Chuks yeahcame on and makes all the difference And it was his first shot that saw us off into playing well. We did not look back after that. Unfortunately, it was all too late, but we did do well to get two goals back. Too big a mountain to climb, although we nearly got to the top. Jones took the blame for this and rightly so. It just shows you how important Campbell has become.6

If Anderson’s going to become a regular it’ll be in Docherty’s spot, where he can play fairly deep but with Coventry having the main responsibility of sitting in front of the defence and getting the ball off them. With his energy, like Docherty he can still play box to box and get forward, but without him having to be relied on as a creative or goal threat.
I expect Anderson is who Jones is talking about. It didn’t help the team or Anderson himself.
As with the style of play needing to be more positive and less direct back in October and November, Jones needs to do the same with his team selections. He reverted to putting too much emphasis on defending and pressing by picking Anderson, which cost our attacking play and ability to play at a higher tempo and take more control of games.
Sounds like he’s learnt from it, and I’d much rather that happens today than in a playoff game. I hope the alternative in his mind wasn’t starting Chuks as there’s no way he should be starting any games.

I'm thinking around too much rest time after Tuesday? Not enough time on the training pitch? Or more likely NJ himself not being adventurous enough in a TC replacement, played it safe instead of the more obvious Dixon or even Gilbert.Raith_C_Chattonell said:

A very frustrating first 50 or so minutes to start off with. I probably should really give a bit of credit to Lincoln for the frustration, they were first to every single lofted ball and 50-50 challenges. Our passing was well out of touch and generally we looked off the pace. We were poor in comparison to Lincoln and how we can actually play. I thought we were our own undoing for both goals.Our first goal was a bit fluky from a terrible corner but after that I would say we were the better team. Maybe if the ref had played the minimum of 5 minutes added time we might of won. I hope we don’t have the ref today in the final at Wembley next month, he will spoil the day for everyone.2

Was good to see Dixon barge their player off the ball (and the ref not actually give a very lame free kick that I had expected). Didn't expect Dixon to have such physical strength in his locker.
Also enjoyed Aneke's efforts. A great save denied him from the long shot. Agree with others that their keeper was MOM. The save from Godden's very firm and downward header was a very rare and special one for a keeper.
Lastly, felt that TC's absence exposed the limitations of Berry and Docherty. Little threat or excitement from those two in that first half when there needed to be, but as expected.
Will watch back the highlights with interest as hadn't clocked McIntyre at fault as others have highlighted.

In fairness to Jones, obviously realised he'd fucked up, rectified it at half time, and then took responsibility, it's exactly what you want from a manager when they have made a mistake.47

First time I've seen Dixon. he improved when he was moved over to the right. Prior to that there seemed a reluctance to pass to him, even when he was in space. I don't think he should bulk up, he is wiry (like Terry Collier), that's his natural build. I like his enthusiasm.5

Enough has been said about Anderson so I won't dwell.
One thing that did really irk me was why we continually have up possession in the second half. We kept giving it back to them or more annoyingly kept conceding throw ins for Lincoln to then take an age to take.
We weren't at it today but didn't lose. Still a very frustrating game.2 -
Credit to the lads for battling back to get a point, but that was a thoroughly disappointing performance overall. At times it felt like a throwback to last October/November.
We were always going to miss TC but I think Nathan Jones made a tactical error in playing with just the one striker. Aligned with that we seemed strangely sluggish, losing far too many first and second balls and our passing was far too inaccurate. Even in the second half, we were deploying battering ram tactics rather than playing with guile and skill.
It shows how vulnerable we are to losing our best players because I am certain that with TC and Lloyd Jones in the team today we would’ve won that comfortably.Let’s hope this is just a blip and that we can get back on track next week.

Hello darkness my old friend....
My 1st game for quite a while and overall, objectively speaking, I thought we were shit.
Nathan most likely gave them a bollocking at half time and quite rightly.
Lincoln had more energy in the 1st half, were a lot better in the air and more organised with closing us down. We looked a tad clueless at times. We relied on solo quality moments from our individual talents.
We sometimes had the 1st touch of Sunday league players and we also underestimated Lincoln a bit.

I loved the atmosphere overall in the upper North. Our equaliser was great, I developed a sincere mild grin on my face while celebrating and thought I was gana go deaf. It felt like how charlton should be.
Whatever league we're in next season, I wana get a season ticket in the covered end.

It was a bizarre selection though, and not just with hindsight. We need to target third because I dont want us to play at Edgeley Park.
Stockport at Wembley open spaces is a different ball game.
I think Wycombe are a busted flush, so either us or Stockport in third will mean we dont meet in home/away ties, although Reading are in good form.10 -
The frustration lies in how much we gave ourselves to do in the first half of the season.We are frustrated because the hope and optimism was there that we could really push 2nd.Not to be. Let’s get Jones and Campbell back, recharge the batteries, and go and finish the season positively.1

Gutted second has gone, hope we can maintain both focus and fitness. Some positives though - Dixon has more physicality and work rate than I expected, Aneke still has a role to play...

Turned out to be a good point in the end after giving them carte blanche to take over The Valley pitch at will, and gifted the a 2-0 first half lead,...second half we were much much better.
Felt that Karoy up top was a silly position and it showed up a massive hole in our play when TC is missing, may have been a better option to have started Dixon, and kept Karoy for later.
But that ref, what an absolute dick head he was, constantly being fooled by Lincoln players falling over as soon as someone dare to get within a foot of them, injury time should have been an additional 10 minutes for the constant stopping of play at corners to lecture players.
In closing, a bad day at the office for everybody, and Wycombe even lost to try and help us as well, so down to 5th, but only two points behind Wycombe.
On to Cambridge we go, and a chance to redeem ourselves...👍

Sounds like they knew on Wednesday that TC wasn't going to be fit. Shame they then didnt get Dixon up to speed in training as they had time. I thought it must have been a late call but seems not.Valley11 said:

Really important to get that second leg at home. We've looked poor for long spells in our recent away games (even in the ones we've won) and Id much rather grab a battling draw in a 1st leg away and then bring it back to the Valley to clinch the place at Wembley.2
