With Charlton swinging the momentum their way, Lincoln clearly wanted the final whistle on 60 minutes as they wasted time and attempted to turn the match into a stop and start snoozefest. Charlton were undeterred and kept pushing for an equaliser. Nathan Jones was not content and the squad and formation changes kept coming. The equaliser came through Greg finding a bit of space on the edge of the box. After a long throw, Lincoln failed to sufficiently clear it and Docherty stepped up with a stunningly left foot volley that came out of no where, travelled through traffic and gave their keeper no chance.
There were more than enough opportunities to win the match late in the second half. Aneke fashioned a great shot that went agonizingly wide. Matty Godden came close with a glancing header that the Lincoln keeper did well to save. And Gillesphey’s free kick was on target and tested the keeper but proved a straightforward save. Kaheim Dixon proved a useful attacking threat and played his role well in the minutes he had.

Really does my head in. Week after week people turn up 10 mins late, leave on 40 mins, come back on 50 mins and then leave when the added time board goes up.
I mean, what's the fucking point in going to a game of football if you are going to only watch 80% of it ! I'd understand if it was a festival & you are there all day.....but a game of football lasts about 50 mins per half nowdays.

The bad news is that by 2050 when we're back in League One, the numpties will be so obese due to lack of any exercise through drone and AI robot servitude, that the burgers will be so huge that they'll be blocking your view.8 -

As long as any part of your foot is touching any part of the line it is ok so almost all long throw players now plant the end of their heel on the line and have nearly a full foot on the pitch as it is legal.2 -

I was nervous as soon as I knew Jones and TC were out and when I saw the Anderson/Berry combo supporting a lone Godden. McIntyre was not the player vs Mansfield and Anderson was out of position and sorts. We were such a different proposition in the second half and we should take that momentum into Cambridge away. Hopefully another full week’s training will see TC and Jones return.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that first goal of theirs.
I read somewhere, maybe on here, that Lincoln have scored from more set pieces than any other side in League One.
I said to my son on the way up from Dorset, you know what's gonna happen now don't you.
I mean, presumably we had done our homework, had prepared accordingly etc etc.
That corner routine was straight out of the book of Genesis.
So simple. Too easy. I mean, had we not expected that?

Once TC was out and Berry being non existent we offered minimal going forward .
At 0-2 down and Mannion getting away with some fannying about on the ball at the back (just put your foot through it ffs ) I would have lumped on a loss today but the never say die attitude of this current squad battled back to nick a point and maybe could have nicked it in the end , fair play to them all .
That being said we were pretty lame and my inner pessimistic self is now readjusting to the fact without the quality few in this team we’re pretty duff (we’re still 5th)
The same unchanged team defied modern football logic by continuing to produce result after result and stay ‘fit’ to be able to go again after each game but now the niggles are coming in and players aren’t available.
I hit the chocolate hard , hence a late (or is it early) poooo reading all the thread but the injuries scare me cos we have a limited small amount of quality and we can’t afford anyone to be missing .

I’m not sure there are any laws that are actually enforced when it comes to throw ons any more. Just do whatever you want, you’re unlikely to be penalised for it.eastterrace6168 said:

Dreadful first half. Jones should know, from the first half of the season, that if we are toothless up front, we really struggle.
Chuks and Dixon at least gave them something to think about and changed the game, even though Chuks lack of mobility is painful to watch.
Ultimately it was the absence of Lloyd Jones that probably cost us the win, by conceding the very bad second goal.
I suspect it was that aspect, that Nathan was alluding to post match.
I wonder whether Lloyd Jones could have actually started, but that Nathan was persuaded by his back room staff, not to risk him.
Now he wishes he'd just followed his own instinct instead.1 -

That was grim with one or two chinks of adequacy
Even our first goal was an embarrassing shambles
Starting lineup was crazy
Jones has his preferred shape but didn’t have the players available to fill it so sent out KA to do a job he’s never shown any likelihood of fulfilling
Godden soldiers in in exemplary fashion despite miserable service
McIntyre is barely an Alex Mitchell stand in never mind a Lloyd JonesHigh balls towards Berry and later Dixon were stupid and wasteful
Ramsay very much back to form after his dip
NJ left it far too long to adjust the glaring problem areas

Referee spent ages at setplays showing off about holding etc but punished nobody of course and he must have had somewhere to be at the end shows 5 minutes of added time of which 2:30 the ball was dead or out of play and blew up bang on the 5th minute
Lincoln are no good and mostly have themselves to blame for dropping 2 points
Yesterday shows that our squad is quite thin despite the number of available players
If LJ and TC remain unavailable then NJ has to devise a plan B to keep us 4th or above
3rd has to be the aim for the likely easiest path thru the playoffs
navigating the semis will require the standards of the Huddersfield game not the dross of this week’s games

The 2 things that turned our season around were the 2 things missing yesterday - an attacking threat with pace on both sides of the pitch, one of which being TC and Lloyd Jones. Its as simple as that. If Leaburn wasn't injured we may have been able to patch it up but in the circumstances and having failed to bring that extra 'winger' in that we all knew was so vital should an injury to TC or small occur, Jones had few options. I think the plan was to stodge it out first half and then try and win it in the second with Chucks. Unfortunately we were 2 down by then. Hopefully TC and Jones are back and raring to go for the play offs - if not, we're toast.3

Amazing how a referee can add 5 minutes, then book Adam Jackson for time wasting (kicking the ball away) during that five minutes but not bother adding a solitary extra second to injury time as a result of the offence. What a brilliant way to encourage teams to waste time. Well done Mr Doughty.21
