    To think we normally have everyone back in our box, when defending a corner. But no one on the far post, had there been someone, their first goal would have been cleared.

    I really wish we’d leave someone on the halfway line when defending corners. I noticed Lincoln didn’t do it either so I guess it’s just not the done thing anymore.

    At the Match:
    Reality had to kick in after the brilliant Huddersfield 4-0 win and the battling victory at Mansfield and with no TC, Lloyd Jones, plus Leaburn and Kanu injured the omens weren't great at 3.02 pm. 8 home wins on the spin was sublime but never enough for some.

    Also with Wrexham having the 9 point lead at KO and with the better GD only the Charlton fans who believe in Santa and the tooth fairy were still adamant that we were heading for 2nd place.

    Limited options for Nathan but Karoy was on a hiding  to nothing and his 1st half performance showed how lost he was in trying to play the Campbell role. I'm still struggling to see the ability on the ball that Anderson apparently showed as a youth footballer even when he plays centre mid. Good athlete and in your face midfielder but...

    Thierry was showing sublime skills on the right wing and beat 2 and 3 defenders at times but had a near, then wild attempt and blocks against him in the 1st half as he was our main attacking outlet with TC not playing. The shot that went high into the Jimmy Seed would've been goal of the season. Edwards had a cracking shot as well.

    Point won from 0-2 down and Gillesphey was excellent with not 1 but 2 CB struggling alongside him in the rusty McIntyre and then Mitchell. 

    From now to the end of 46 games we need to win a couple, draw a couple and go into the Play offs with Jones, TC, Small, Edwards, Ramsey, Macca, and Godden still fit to play a potential 3 more games.
    I would add Mannion to the above list and Captain Docherty.

    It's difficult because you still have to play committed and not lose momentum but as seen today we will struggle in the play offs if two or three of the above players are missing.

    We did show a great spirit to get a Desmond 👏🏼

    Something odd about the TC absence yesterday. All Jones' comments on it have been very loose. With lots of press around him this week, and references to stuff going on behind the scenes (too passive), it all seems a bit off.
    Maybe he went to Bluewater Costa... 

    On the game, unfortunately too many were a step below their usual selves. Gillesphey and Docherty probably avoid that label.

    Whilst on the subject of "pushing the line" when did not having the ball in the quadrant for a corner change ?  I was re-watching the play off semi final between Cardiff & Leicester on Friday night (just to see Kermorgant) and noticed all the corners were being taken with the ball firmly in the quadrant. I do remember Kinsella "pushing the envelope" with this many years ago but just wondered when it became universal. Everyone does it now ......but didnt 15 years ago.

    Thought Godden and gillesphey were the only players really near to their best yesterday, Ramsay and Coventry were uncharacteristically poor / off it. 

    If we can take one thing from yesterday it’s hopefully that we’ve learnt a bit about what we need to do and not do when we need to change systems or personnel or don’t have all our players fit, all of which are bound to be relevant at some point in the play offs

    I am not quite so peeved by criticism of referees as you, but I do get what you are saying. Ultimately almost always we get uptight about an event that is a matter of opinion, even when 99% of folk are in agreement. The incident I quoted saw, for once, a provable fact, rather than an opinion. The referee failed to do his job competently.

    Yesterday’s performance stunk of a smidge of arrogance in regards to our home form. We were shot in the foot. We move on!

    Need to balance that though with ensuring we are actually in the play offs in the first place. That’s not a given at the moment.

    NJ has said he got it wrong in the first half which is good for me. It took a couple of unbelievable saves from their keeper to stop us getting the 3 points. The Godden header was an incredible save ! To be so far off it and 2-0 down and turn that around says a lot about the manager and squad. We need to protect our key players now and focus’s on having them available for the playoffs

    To be totally honest, before the game yesterday I'd take the draw. Our home form has been fantastic and being realistic we 'aint gonna' win them all.  Just hope TC and Jonesey are up and running for our next game.

    Yesterdays performance was driven by changes in player availability, tactics and individual performance. It was as arrogant as the Huddersfield performance (ie not at all).

    Surely not? We’re in the final run in, trying to finish in as good a position as possible for the playoffs and you would have taken a point at home against a mid-table team? 

    I wasn’t even happy at the idea of a point on 55 minutes yesterday.

    I couldn’t make the match yesterday, didn’t watch a stream, follow on X. I have only seen the highlights. From what I’ve seen, I thought we were unlucky not to win. We came up against a team of giants whose goalie was in top form. Those saves from Godden and Chuks … top draw 👏 Their striker took his goals well. You can’t win em all.

    Yesterday was the first time in a while I felt the players looked/acted vulnerable at most of their set pieces. Their first goal, from their perspective, was a cracking corner and glancing header...... but from memory and what I can make out on the highlights reel we had Doc and Berry covering Collins for his run at the near post....... I like Berry and Doc a lot but I wouldn't bet on either to get to the ball ahead of Collins in that situation.

    Everything conspired against us yesterday, including our initial tactics but we fought back and should have won it ultimately. These things happen. We didn't lose and we go again next Saturday.

    Disagree. Last few times we've been Fratton Park they've gone quiet when behind or if theres a lull in the game. You get a PUP when they win a corner, but that's it. Fratton Park is easily one of the loudest grounds in the country, but it's hardly buzzing when we've been a goal up there for long periods.

    Is it not in direct proportion at each club to the cost of a pint though? It's no wonder we're quieter......  :)

    He clearly stepped over the line…every long throw today did…they don’t blow for it it seems
    Both sides did it, seems it’s ok now long as part of your foot is on the line.
    I personally dislike all the flaffing around that players do when preparing to take a corner kick so that only the slightest shadow is on the line. Its not as if those extra centimetres make any difference to their hopeful punt towards the big bloke in the box. 

    But yesterday their keeper was doing the same when doing a goal kick, thats even before he started time-wasting. Bleeding ridiculous!

    Bang on this, I’ve been crying for wingers all season. Jones finally changed the mess he started us off with in December and started playing 2. we have then been on this amazing run playing some really good football in spells and was completely shocked when he didn’t at least buy one more in Jan. TC now being injured we looked like the team from the first 18 or so games again.  Relying on going gung ho with chucks coming on to cause havoc. 

    Hope I’m wrong but I have a horrible feeling that TC’s injury is worse then what he Jones is letting on, maybe that’s why he looked even more mental then normal in his interview. If it is we could be bang in trouble.

    Perhaps it had more to do with Lincoln man marking him McGrandles was excellent stopping the ball getting to him and closing him down everytime he looked dangerous …. It not always down to us but the other team tactics

    Not keen on Mannion for either of their goals , first one he’s fannying pushing their player and getting drawn to near to that side and  his hands are too low , it’s past him in a flash but better positional sense and he’d have had a better chance 

    second goal I feel a step or two out to lessen the angle increases his chances but was a good finish .

    im looking for perfection but these to me are basics as an ex keeper, once my knees started giving way .
