No idea if this is kosher, but if so, demonstrates a serious lack of managerial competence.

Of course it isn’t true, amazing it’s generated this many messages.

Mbengue gone to Watford looks like we’re going to go all in for Offiah now

No way Fabianski will want to be paying the toll charge on the tunnels. He’ll go to Orient.
Wont affect him. Peak time toll is south to north in the mornings and north to south in the evenings. I'm.sure he can afford the standard £1.50 fee.....🙄

Looks like this is the source of the Mbengue chatter. No idea on this account’s track record.

If Watford are the comp and they genuinely want him we won't get him. We can't compete with their financial power if we are honest.

99% of their “financial power” must be used on compensation to sacked managers.

A 40yr old GK, not for me.
    This.

Especially as we have greater needs. Strikers & attacking midfielders/wingers first. Thats where money should be spent....be it fees or wages. Not some 40 year old has been.
Yes because this is how it works. We should also be buying strikers first because otherwise it means we're prioritising defence which is boring and doesn't win you games.

Can't wait for us not to sign a keeper and you bang on all winter about how we should have signed a more experienced one in the summer....
One signs players as and when they are available. Signing a defender first doesn’t mean you have prioritised defence.
Everyone wants to sign a striker and they tend to be towards the end of the window.
I see you failed to spot the sarcasm in sam’s post.

We will sign freebies when they become available it seems of course you could bid for players and make them available at any point during the window aswell.

Nathan said he likes his signings done so he can take them away on preseason, so I’m expecting July to be quite busy, maybe 4 players brought in, in July?

Given that Offiah was the one that Cawley "broke" I would think he is/was the priority (or considered most achievable) anyway.

We're not going to get every single player we want, we're nowhere near big enough fish in this particular pond. Almost certainly there will be players that Jones really likes/wants and we don't get them but that's exactly what always happens.

But I do think that we will see a lot of players who in theory/on paper would make for decent or even great signings go elsewhere and probably cause great agitation on this thread.

We're going to have to trust the process on this.
As I said back before the window even opened. We miss out on targets... and people get very silly about it. Death, taxes, charltonlife meltdowns.

Thinking of Reading CBs from last season, wonder if we could get Tyler Bindon on loan?

Doubt he’ll play much at Forest and was one of the stand out League 1 CBs last year and a Champ loan this season seems the logical next step.

Left footed so would be to compete with Gillesephy - 6ft3 and good on the ball like Gilly but has a bit more pace to him.

Plus our new CEO has the Forest link, so may look to do him a favour!

Doesn’t seem too far fetched to me.

    Not ITK just a suggestion.

What an absolutely fantastic suggestion. Can't see him getting in the Forest side yet and perfectly fits the profile of what we need. Excellent on the ball too.

I think there will be a lot of interest in him to be honest. I would expect Forest will want him getting regular game time and with Jones natural reluctance of loans and particularly young loans I can’t see this one flying despite it being a very good suggestion and even with Dane Murphy’s connections at Forest

Bindon is a great shout.  Others at Forest who may be worth looking at would be O'Brien; Tofolo (will prob leave perm) or Moreira (maybe available on loan).

Lewis O'Brien is a very good shout too, wages seem to be the stumbling block with him going back to MLS again but would give us another experienced CM option.

I think it’s going to be tough for us to get young loans where the club want the player to develop. Jones has obviously been quite vocal about loans and the only younger one he’s signed was Gilbert and he didn’t play enough

We will definitely use the loan market but I expect it to be for players clubs want to offload that we can’t afford to buy or want to have a look on loan first, rather than younger development loans

Isn’t NJ being too stubborn if he refuses ’development loans?'

In this day and age the big clubs snap up the best young talent to loan them out for their development. Refusing them is plain daft imo.

Would NJ have refused Gallagher on the basis that he wasn’t available at a realistic fee for a subsequent permanent deal?

Honestly if we had 5-6 loan players and went up I could care less ,if the football was exciting aswell even more of a bonus.

I think (and hope) NJ is smart enough to realise that the players available on a Championship loan are a different level to a L1 loan. For L1 loan players you are often creating the foundations a talented player needs, Championship loans are often more about applying the finishing touches. Developmentally it’s a lot less work and financially it’s much more efficient than it is in L1

It won’t be Jones refusing, it will be the parent club. Would Chelsea have sent Gallagher to Jones, probably not. When we had Bowyer he could go to these clubs and say look what we did with Bielik, Cullen etc.

These top teams are very selective when it comes to development loans, they want managers and clubs with a track record of developing loan players, and a playing style that fits the way they want to play. I can’t see us being high on the priority list of any premier league club when looking for a loan destination for their top talents

When it comes to keepers I'd prefer us to take a chance on the next Dean Kiely from the lower divisions than a journeyman who's taking a step down at the end of their career.
  • Jones too stubborn?! You’re talking about a manager who saved us from certain relegation and got promotion with an average squad the following season. We are lucky to have him!

Don't worry the moaners will be out in force if we don't have a decent start to the season
