  • Milton Keynes Dons have agreed a deal thought to be worth at least £750,000 to sign Bolton Wanderers striker Aaron Collins.

    really ?

Strange one that, if it materialises! Would have thought it would be more likely that Collins would move up a division, rather than down one. All a bit odd!
  • MK Dons have money and Paul Warne as manager, think they will be favourites to go up
  • This might be the most bizarre transfer rumour I've seen in a while.

Aaron Collins is in his prime, just had a really decent season and just won Boltons player of the year.

To step down a level, especially to MK Dons is mental. I wouldn't have minded seeing him here in all honesty. Has goals in him.

MK Dons have now agreed a deal with Bolton Wanderers for the transfer of striker Aaron Collins, FLW has been told!

A scorer of 19 goals last season, Collins was also linked with Huddersfield & Cardiff City!

  • Yep Fenaddick, maybe! Not sure it's a risk I'd want to take if I was Collins....oh I forgot, it's the money!! (hey Thierry Small)
  • They've already signed Mendez-Laing (41 Championship appearances last season), Gethin Jones (23 L1 appearances last season) and Hepburn-Murphy (42 L1 appearances, albeit for Crawley). They are going for it in a way most L2 clubs don't

Can't wait for the FLW Don ClickbaitbaitbutstillGoodman 'Exclusive' on what he thinks about the signing. Hope the article is out before supper

The fee is apparently close to 1m and it's reportedly almost a done deal.

It is definitely a weird one though, as surely MK Dons are not going to be paying him more than Bolton?

Something else for your excitement in the meantime:

Aaron Collins for 1M would make Galbraith for 2M look an absolute bargain
Galbraith is mainly good business as it avoids the competition for him on a free in a years time. We need a player like that more than anyone else in the championship, and that's where I hope we will have the edge. We can offer Galbraith guaranteed playtime compared to a lot of these clubs.

Think £2 million is a lot, but he could be a massive difference maker on our rebuild, and he would be an asset if we went down.
  • A weird one, as while MKD will be favourites for promotion, they're unlikely to then have the momentum to do well in L1 like Wrexham and Stockport this season. Both had capacity crowds and a real buzz about the place, whereas Stadium MK has a terrible atmosphere due to it being way too large, and the slightly "artificial" nature of the club.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if another team matched that offer. Really can’t see him going to MKD

That's after an albeit unsuccessful season where they brought in the likes of Dan Crowley and Liam Kelly last summer under Scott Lindsay. They should be huge favourites for promotion now.

Is Rich suggesting the leak might have come from our end? Opposite theory to floated on here
I have read it as he’s implying it came from orient.

MK have new owners and are really going for it. Paul Warne wouldn’t have gone there without assurances on a huge budget for the level. I think they will be aiming for back to back promotions so are signing players to compete at the top end of league 1 next season

  • I would love tyler bindon on loan from Forest, looked class at Reading, and Donley from spur
  • A 2 year deal at a Championship club is more than I was expecting for Dillon after an underwhelming season at Rotherham.
  • Who is he talking about here? Can't see the previous post
    Galbraith.

Whether us or Orient leaked news of our bid.
  • Agree that the bid being leaked is no big deal. As previously said the players agent will have been touting him around for weeks. Any club looking to sign that sort of player will be well aware of the situation.

Absolutely. I don't doubt that we would very much prefer business to be done quietly if possible but Jones, Chappel and Co have been around long enough to know its not going to be possible every time. That's just not how it works. Carey was one where we managed it, Galbraith might still end up signed even if it did leak.

As long as we actually get what we need, the how is relegated to a secondary concern.
  • Would imagine that Charlton are pissed off with Orient releasing that a bid had been made, would not be a great surprise to withdraw our offer and go after other targets .. perhaps see what the situation is in the final few hours of the window given he only across the river .. and Orient might be a little more desperate
Doubtful though. In 2025 i don't think you can really be angry at a club for leaking a bid because it's naive to think Galbraith's agent won't have told other interested clubs anyway.

I know that Rich said we're looking to do things 'cloak and dagger' but i'd say that's quite tough because the agent will almost certainly be alerting other clubs (especially ones with more money than us) as it's in his interest to have more clubs bidding.
Orient leaked it all day long.

Orient are out for every penny they can get and quite rightly so. If Charlton did make that, imo, below value bid then you have to expect Orient to put it out there.
I don't think Orient will be unreasonable with their valuation. Just pay it and get him in
