Apparently we have shown an interest in Keillor Dunn, source is the Barnsley chronicle supposedly. Personally think he was the best player we came up against last season.
Not only was he the best player we came up against, he offers something we desperately need - a spark. Creativity. An X factor. We have a lot of "meat and potatoes" players but we are light on those who are just a bit different
Meat and potatoes 😂
That tickled me
at least we have meat and potatoes these days. I think back to the Fraser’s, Kirk’s and Gilbey’s of this world. They were just about potatoes
They were thought of as Meat & 2 Veg in those days
Cawley mentioned we were looking to make 6-7 signings this summer including Carey. Looks like we’re fixed on a more quality over quantity approach this summer.
Not too concerned about that, he's good but I don't think really fits the profile we're after at 33. Still could "do a job" but not really a long term solution.

I wouldn't have wanted him. Just thought it was worth a mention as he's ex-Luton, Jones rates him and he's been discussed on here before.
I'd be quite disappointed if we signed a player like that in the Champ. In League 1 I think it would have been a solid pick up.
Seeing as we have too many "meat and potato" players already and what with Charlton fan's proclivity to looking back at ex players, how is Paolo Di Canio's fitness these days?
Somebody on Facebook saying we offered £5k to Small, PNE £11k.
Thats the problem with promotion. Our higher earners are on £8k and you dont want disparity in wages with experienced players.
I can instantly see a problem here.
Trusting Facebook rumours?
Jones not rating Small so highly that he wants him to be guaranteed first choice?
I heard not too dissimilar numbers from someone involved fairly high up at Preston. Believe that or not, is up to you. As to the difference in the offers, only a few people know the actual reason. Could be the budget or could be Jones didn't think he was worth that much?
Regardless of the difference in money. Thierry mentioned several times in interviews that he saw himself as a left back. He wasn't even our first choice left back, maybe he saw a easier path at Preston? I can't say I know enough about Preston to offer an opinion on that. All I do know is, there was a significant disparity in the contracts offered.

I don't doubt there was. The rumour was Small was going to Preston for some months and there was never a hint that he may be tempted to stay by a Charlton offer. I doubt many were surprised he left.

I can believe it, though I’d also be surprised if £5k or so is the most we can offer any player. I think it’s far more likely to be the most we were willing to offer Small.
With us making a £1.5m offer for a player like Galbraith and being interested in Keillor-Dunn, who would also be a multi million £ signing, only being able to offer £5k a week for any player yet offer those fees doesn’t add up to me.

Yeah, it seems less about whether we could 'afford' it or not, and more about whether it made sense for us. The deal would've almost certainly made him the top earner at the club, while I doubt he's the top earner at Preston.
Giving him that money would've upset our wage structure not to mention the squad.
I’d hope we’d be concentrating on fringe top 10 champ players, or prem youngsters/loans. Or foreign gems if we have the new scouting set up. These league one sides are taking liberties with their valuations and we shouldn’t be held to ransom.

The scouting team need to earn their dollar.
I think they will Garry, I think we as a fanbase need to show a bit of faith and patience.
This really isn’t meant to be a negative of even cynical comment. We are hearing that the club is showing interest in both DKD and Galbraith both of whom will cost a few million pounds each at least. Very encouraging and exciting but I’d be disappointed if we hadn’t shown an interest as long as that interest is based in reality with knowledge and the wherewithal to actually do a deal. Showing an interest purely in the hope that your lowish bid might work but without the intention of paying what will be the eventual fee. We’ll find out soon enough.

And I read it in the 'Evening Herald' before you did 😏

That's one ex-Luton we won't be signing at least.
FLW also getting another "🚨 EXCLUSIVE 🚨" right.
