Charlton are about to conclude the signing of Ed McJannet. The 20yr old Irish U21 star was at Luton with Jones where he won the young player of the year award. He chose to move to Italy to join the fabled Lecce youth team where he has thrived in his central midfield role, making 12 appearances on loan last season. McJannet is out of contract this summer and it is understood he is keen to return to the UK to hook up with Nathan Jones again.
Charlton see him as a perfect replacement for Connor Coventry who, (along with Ramsey and L Jones) is joining Sheffield Wednesday on free transfers after being promised contracts with £100,000 per week written on them.
Free agent Freddie Woodman is joining Liverpool as third choice keeper, know a few (possibly even me?) mentioned him early in the window as someone it might have been worth us looking at
Famewo is the type of centre half we need - be happy with that - power and mobility to complement what we have
Excellent! We should restrict signings to former players.
Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu next, please. Would cover four or five positions.
There’s nothing wrong with signing ex players if they’re the right fit. If Famewo didn’t play for us previously you’re looking at a left footed cb heading into his prime years who’s been a consistent start in the championship when fit for the last 2 years and is on a free transfer. Just comes down to which ex players we would look at nothing wrong with the likes of Famewo, Dijksteel etc
Feels like all these EFL fan websites who should Charlton sign pieces are just producing the same names over and over. Djiksteel has been in most of them , Ruddock Mpanzu has been too
Haven't seen anyone completely left field mentioned in one yet. See more interesting names mentioned on here!!
I can only see Ramsay, Jones, Edwards and Coventry (perhaps) as shoe in starters. Some may shout "Godden" but he is 34 at KO and his last stint at this level yielded 6 in 35.
The rest, perhaps Mannion jury out, barely performed at L1 level.
Well if Godden isn't a "shoe in" starter than we need to buy another 3 or 4 strikers because apart from (an injured) Leaburn we have no other striker who is going to get anywhere near double figures 🤷♂️.
There is no chance of us adding 3-4 strikers in addition to Godden, Leaburn and Campbell (if played through the middle)
Has any team ever signed 3-4 strikers in one summer?
I also still have faith in Alex Mitchell if he gets his chance, think he is slightly underrated on here.
We will be up against it most games in the Champ, especially away, and he is very sound defensively. We will need pure defenders in certain games (Sheff United, Norwich, Southampton away etc) can forget about all that playing sexy football malarkey.
This is CharltonLife’s equivalent of the depths of winter.
The branches of the leafless trees reach out to a glum sun so weak as to have practically given up.
The farmer is in his shed cursing his numb hands as he drops his spanner into the awkward depths of his tractor’s engine bay.
A snow flecked fox scratches under a blackened log in pursuit of a meagre worm that dared lift its head.
And Charlton Life huddles around a near extinguished passion, the faintest blue lick of flame flicking and spluttering from its consumption of fixture release day and click bait X.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. Let’s get it done.
Errrm… Jota (Celtic)
Hell just link us to Josh Keeley at this stage.
