I am not convinced NJ will use identical tactics nor formation as last season but could be wrong. I can see us going 3-4-3 with TC/Carey left, Tanto/Leaburn/Godden down the middle and Apter/new down the right. The right and left sided midfield players tucking back into a 5 when defending. If I am right the new forward whether perm or loan would be a JRS type player rather than a Kelman type.
The alternatives would likely to a 5-2-1-2 or 3-4-1-2, I can’t see us playing a flat back four at all.
Cant see us playing 343 the fact we’re looking for a striker when we already have Oloafe Leaburn Godden, Kanu, Mbick I know the last 2 may be going on loan but if you plan to play 1 up top 3 options would be enough as it is. TC and Apter are the only natural wingers and we have 7 central midfielders. 343 can always be a plan B but I’d be shocked if it’s not 352 from the off. Even in the pre season game against Gorica we shifted TC to LWB and played Mbick and Leaburn up top rather than than shift Leaburn and TC either side of Mbick
They have just got a striker on loan from West Ham with an option to buy at the end of the season. No idea if it affects anything.
Think he's someone Bloomfield had on loan last year at Wycombe , would see that as a developmental punt as opposed to an out and out starter like a Kelman.
Kelman coming to us & Whatsapp groups was a joke, in case anyone thought it serious.
Be patient, your request to join the Charlton WhatsApp group was discussed by the committee. The special hand shake can take time to master at the seasonal covert get togethers; Normally held at Railway terminals.
Braziliance lost interest in joining when told 10 posts a day was the maximum. My Source told me the get together at the Ribble steam railway museum in Preston was very successful in June. As well as the WhatsApp meet up at the Railway museum in York arranged by Cabbles last year.
I won't join any group that will have me as a member.

Important to remember players develop at different stages of their career, and some much later than others. Would you be happy to sign a 25 year old for £1m from a National League side, and he had only ever spent 1 season at that level, all the rest of his career was lower down the pyramid?
I assume not. But that player has so far scored 145 Premier League goals and is the 14th highest scorer in the Premier League.
I'm not saying Kelman is the next Jamie Vardy but you also can't write him off and say he'll never play higher.

To join a forum on the 28th, you either hate your family or for shit Christmas presents that year 😂
I think Kelman would be a great signing - hope we are in for him (PS - I've been wrong about strikers many, many times with regards to Charlton so please ignore me if you can - I really wanted Freddie Eastwood)
Not sure Kelman is what we need. I know he scored goals last season and if we weren't promoted, I'd have taken a punt on him.
Whilst I know players need a chance to play at higher levels, one good season isn't enough to spend big money on him for what will be a difficult championship season.
Can’t help thinking all of the concerns around Kelman apply more to some of the players we’ve already bought - Apter, Olaofe, Carey who are all unproven at Championship level.
Everything is a punt but Kelman, at the age of 23, is probably a measured one in my view. And if Jones and Chapple think so then that would give me even more confidence.

One question about Kelman if you could answer please, if he is that good why aren't QPR a championship club who finished just 7 points off relegation last year and only scored 53 goals in 46 games keeping him and playing him this season ???
In the early days of our return to the Valley around October 1995 I believe we had a 1-0 defeat to Grimsby Town. They had a player whose name you would see as a regular goalscorer playing. Clive Mendonca. He wasn’t eye catching in a speedy, or tricksy, or powerful way, but he lurked around and plugged away and scored that goal to secure the three points for Grimsby that day. It is that memory Kelman reminds me of.
Haven't seen much news about Donley going on loan anywhere yet. He played the 2nd half for Spurs in their pre season game vs Reading a couple of days ago

If anything, he is the most sure thing out of the lot as you have highlighted our other transfer dealings.
I am fairly confident though if we did sign him, a lot of these views would change. It just sounds like mental gymnastics so that when it doesn't happen, people won't feel as let down. It's absurd not wanting the best striker from League 1 last season imo, but being happy with what we have got.

I don't know how true this is, but I heard from an Orient fan I met that he doesn't want to sign a deal there as he never gets a chance and actually wants a move away.
QPR have some very, very good forward options and with Kelman being a valuable asset & not signing a new deal, they might see it as the right time to cash in.
Ivan Toney was a player who seemed a bit of a gamble off of the back of one very good season in League 1 (two half decent ones before that) and it paid off for Brentford. Kelman would be a calculated risk just like that.
Either way, based on social media rumblings, it sounds like he is nowhere near coming here and the MLS seems a far more likely destination.

In fairness sometimes players are just not right for the club saw it with Dobson at Sunderland etc. Although I’m also not sure on Kelman i know Apter, Oloafe are big risks but I can distinctively remember them giving Ramsay and Small really hard games to play against. Kelman played us 3 times last season I couldn’t tell u one time he did something well on the pitch.

You couldn't lump the ball high in the sky for Carl, he needed the ball no more than chest high or on the floor.
You'll remember that Leaburn senior wasn't exactly a prolific scorer - but so much came through him, the perfect foil for a nippy poacher beside him.
Super Clive Mendonca once said that Carl Leaburn in that role was the best he had been paired with. Or something like that.
One difference between Miles and his Dad, Miles is more mobile, can get around the pitch, and able to run with the ball.
As you suggest, we should be playing to his strengths, rather than lumping the ball vaguely towards his head, just because he's a tall lad.
Mrs Kelman...🤷♂️
