  • You'd have to think there is a strong chance of it happening as Rich isnt the type to throw names out there without anything substantial behind it.

Presume he'd be the replacement for Small?
Rich would never be any good on here then, it's all about unsubstantiated rumours

QPR also mentioned in the piece as a club interested, hoping Jones and Chappell Brighton links will put us in pole position.
You'd hope our very long history of having a good relationship with Brighton might help us.
Was wondering similar - maybe an installment of the James Beadle deal is due ? Maybe James would come as well ? Definitely an option
  • He's played at centre back almost as much as at right back, right? So could be any number of things, from a "replacement" for Ramsay if we sell him, or so Ramsay can move back across to RWB, or competition/squad depth for the same role
  • As a club, we no longer have any leaks.    Rich and Louis won't want to ruin any confidences by putting a deal at risk... therefore, having seen 11am come and go, I predict SE7  (well, actually CL) will resemble downtown LA if no announcement by 12

    loan or perm?
Mmmm……think Brighton will be asking something like £7 to £10 million.
Too much for us I’d say, so realistically it would have to be a loan.😕
GOOD NEWS his contract expires on 30th June 2025 !!! so no large fee

This one sounds very promising - I would prefer him to Fammy

Christ they really did love him didn't they!

Bodes well if we can get him
  • This would be a real statement of intent and exactly the type of player we should be targeting, young with some solid experience but also high upside.

Gives you competition for Kayne at RWB/RCB but I wouldn't be surprised if he's not the only RWB brought in.

I think we will definitely look for a more natural Small replacement, a wing back that will basically be a winger and play much higher up the pitch when we have the ball. Then we have that attacking option and then also the option to play both Offiah and Ramsay on the right for some of the trickier games

One player I’d like for us to sign this summer is Odeluga Offiah.

Was excellent for Blackpool this season, on loan from Brighton so the link is there for Jones too. He’s a London boy and played for Bromley academy before joining Brighton.

Fully expect Watson to be released and the profile of Offiah is the type I anticipate we are after. Strong, athletic, aggressive, good on the ball. He might not be a flying wing back, he’s more a Ramsay type, but he’d be a fantastic signing for anyone in the Championship. I think the Premier League is slightly one step too far right now but he’ll get there.

Online says he’s out of contract but I do not think that’s correct.
Happily point out I was the first to bring his name up on 30th May. Really hope this one happens 🤞🏻
he signed a new 2 year contract while on loan at Hearts in 2023

Yeah I think we need that more attacking option as a wingback. Would expect similar on the left to compete with Edwards.
  • Unless TC turns from a winger/occasional striker and Leaburn rediscovers his speed, we need pace at WB or go 3-4-3 with wingers. A younger Godden got 1 in 3 at our new level. Should he be a starter?
Losing Small is a big blow.

I don't see Edwards as the LWB we need. Prefer him at LCB because MG is too slow at this level, or dump Macca and sign Famewo.

We need two pacy wide men. I'd prefer 3-4-3 as we already have Dixon in that format and Akiimwe as cover and Fullah coming through.

Karoy would suit that three up front so we'd just need a younger Chuks or a fit Miles or Mbick to step up in the middle.
Karoy in a 3 up front did you not watch Lincoln at home he wouldn’t suit it. Also can’t rely on Asiimwe Dixon and Fullah to suddenly step up to championship level when they weren’t even playing at all in L1. Not sure what the obsession is with pace in the team, you need some but shouldn’t base an entire starting XI on it otherwise we might as well sign Usain Bolt up top
    Is Usain Bolt available?
  • My only nagging concern about next season is having width. I'm not 100% convinced that NJ realises it was the width that turned our season around. If he brings in a defensive-minded RWB who can't stretch the opposition, we'll look like we did in the first-half of last season.

He’s apparently lined up for a season loan at Birmingham according to various sources, although hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Unless the width comes from elsewhere. Blackpool fans say Carey likes to drift left, if TC then drifts right you essentially have 2 wide players flanking the striker. It relies on Doc/whoever takes his role driving forward too though

TC much better from the left, he’s got to be the one that drifts left. I’d be surprised if Carey takes Berry’s place straight away anyway unless he has a stand out pre-season.

We definitely need a right wing back that can play as a right winger in the way Small did. Maybe Jones thinks Offiah can be converted into that, either way I think we will definitely be signing another option there even if we do get Offiah

It's a few people playing Football Manager badly...
  • Pretty confident that if Cawley has mentioned this then it's reasonably close to being a done deal.

I think there's a bit of confusion though, he mentioned a permanent deal in his article and a lot have assumed that to mean we're buying him rather than loaning him. But it's neither. I believe he's out of contract, so we'd basically be signing him on a free (or whatever we're told to pay in compensation).
He has 12 months left on his deal

I wouldn't be surprised to see a tactical tweak to being much more solid again as per the beginning of last season. NJ clearly likes to build from the back. Agree we will probably sign 2 right sided options though, possibly with one of them able to play on the left too
  • It’s interesting. Wonder where this leaves Zach Mitchell, assumed he would be the RCB cover. Can’t see Offiah playing as a wing back, and it would be silly to move Ramsay, when he offers so much in the wide CB role

??? what is your source ?
  • Offiah's name perfect for James' Sit Down

Going back to Scotland on loan
