  • I get the logic and in hindsight this does sound a good idea. However, you have also got to factor the attendance was nearly 21k on Sat which suggests they were dealing with ticket sales higher than any game bar Disney in the run up week to the game.

If they started this earlier and hit the same IT problems etc it would have been a nightmare in the run up to a match

What was stopping the club putting the home leg tickets for home fans a week or two back? With an opposition team TBA & KO time TBA. Many fans would attend regardless of the unknowns and it would have reduced the pressure on the club’s infrastructure once known.
Its not the period of time that has been the issue here.  Even if they put on sale 3 weeks ago, the same chaos would have ensued, as the user experience of purchasing a ST seat was poor, and some types of tickets (that includes carers) did not even work.

Whats done is done now and hopefully the club learn from the mess they created (that was not the fault of fans who had spent hours trying to get tickets and just got exasperated with the process, despite what @golfaddick would have you believe)

But limited to just season tickets, it would have had lower usage and could have got rid of some of the issues that later came up.

And it was not hindsight when I posted about it after the Wrexham game!

A few of us were suggesting that the week before last.

And that is the line that always comes out with every ticket fiasco we have had going all the way back to the Bristol City replay in 94.

With all these supporters advisory groups and fans forums we have, you would have thought stuff like this would be totally nailed down by now, instead we just go from fiasco to fiasco and they only things that change are the SMT in charge and the actual reasons for the failures.
Hopefully we are on our way back up again and the demand (and extra revenue) will mean an improvement in resources.

As a non-season ticket holder currently, my experience of both the home and away leg purchases for these games has been simple and straightforward.

It’s the one off situations (ST buying same ticket as they had during the season) that has been the overriding issue and the club were poorly prepared this specific case.

I reported earlier that when the tickets went on sale to ST holders, I found that only two of our three seats has been made available to me. My son had his own Fan ID and was able to log in himself, but (like so many others) he wasn’t able to buy his own seat so he bought another seat in the next block.
After several attempts, and 15 minutes on hold, I spoke to someone in the ticket office today and she was able to sort it all out for us and the three of us will now be together for the game.
I am conscious of criticism levelled by some at ST holders for doing what we did, but I reckon there must be several hundred of us who are neither selfish nor stupid for doing what we did. The ticketing system simply did not offer a way for my son to get his usual seat, as others will attest.
It has now all been sorted to our satisfaction and the “other” seat has already been snapped up.
Firstly this is not a dig at you & I am in no way moaning the fact that you have a ticket and I am still unable to buy one until 11am tomorrow.

Why are you unable to buy a ticket until 11am tomorrow when it’s clear from what’s posted on here that tickets are coming available every couple of mins?

Just looked, Block L North Upper
And @Bailey offered a free ticket which I'm assuming is a genuine offer.
if you're not an ST holder you can't buy until general sale tomorrow ?
You've been able to buy tickets as a non ST holder since Monday
That was stopped on Tuesday and supposed to restart again Wednesday.....but delayed until tomorrow at 11am.

    Do keep up.

And @Covered End it's not all about me. If I had been able to buy a ticket when my turn came I would have done so & gone merrily on my way. But ST holders who bought elsewhere & then decided that they now wanted their own seat have buggered it up for everyone else. I'm just someone who puts his head above the parapet & tells it like it is.

But can you, or any other ST holder on here explain the mentality of your decision last Sunday to buy a ticket in another part of the ground when the IT system wasn't letting you buy your own seat. I'm just curious as to the thought process & panic mode you were in to think that on day 1 of 12 you had to buy a ticket, any ticket, that day even though there are less than 8000 ST holders in a ground that holds 24k home supporters. Did you really think that if you didn't buy one right now that they would sell out before the end of the day ?

Is it a fear of missing out (FOMO) or some sort of siege mentality. Are you one of those who panic bought all the toilet rolls in the early days of the pandemic in fear of going without even though there had been no mention of short supplies ?  I'm interested because I don't recall this happening before on here & wondered if anyone would agree that if they had been more measured then by Tuesday everything would have been back to normal, the IT system problems would have (and did) get sorted out and you now wouldn't have to be ringing the ticket office trying to exchange tickets for your "held" season ticket seat.

Just wondered if it's me (probably is)

There are 2 separate single tickets in the covered end on the site right now.  Worth checking every now and again this afternoon.
For the love of God ......how many more times !!

I can not purchase ANY tickets until tomorrow at 11am. Only current Season Ticket holders can purchase before then.

Do you honestly believe I'd be sitting here talking about thus issue if I could simply log on a purchase a ticket.

And again, without wanting to sound pedantic or annoyed......its because of all those Season Ticket holders who panicked, bought tickets elsewhere and are now wanting to change seats (back to their 24/25 ST seats) that is causing all this mess and subsequent delay.

Just own it. You panicked, bought elsewhere and now everything has calmed down & the IT system has been sorted out you all want your own seats back.

Is the point you that are trying to make, that you cannot log in  as the site is only open to season ticket holders.

Tickets for the Addicks’ play-off semi-final second leg against Wycombe Wanderers at The Valley on Thursday, May 15th will now go on back on general sale at the later date of Friday, May 9th at 11am.

Season-ticket holders can still purchase their season ticket seat for the game until 10.59am on Friday, May 9th.

Also are Valley Gold members getting access to buy non season ticket seats at present?

I'm asking for information purposes & not my benefit as i already have a ticket.

Clear as day unless they have changed the rules again.

I guess you've probably sussed it out now but .... I bought mine Tuesday afternoon after watching the site like a hawk.  I am not a season ticket holder.  There are very small windows of opportunity where someone changes their seat over to their ST seat.  The ones they previously bought then become available.

I've seen tens of non S/T holders saying they've managed to snaffle up returns on here in the last few days.
Plus for the final time Bailey has twice offered you a FREE ticket & implored you to accept the offer to no avail.
You just want to whinge, it's in your DNA.

I'm not a season ticket holder but bought three tickets on Tuesday two together in WSL and one in NWE as they appeared on the official site. On Wednesday I bought a fourth ticket in WSL when it  appeared on the official site and sold the one ticket in NWE to another CL member after I put it in the resale thread.
So I'm afraid Mr golfaddick you're talking crap.
Numerous people have told you tickets are available but you continue to moan and groan.
I just hope you get a ticket soon so I don't have to listen to your continuous whining. 🙄

As I’ve said before, the turnover of management and staff means there is little or no institutional memory within the organisation. Hence lessons are not there to be learned.

With respect to members of advisory groups, fan liaison officers and shadow boards, you need people who understand the minutiae of the ticketing system to advise on these issues. The club isn’t recruiting such people for these roles because it thinks they are about representation not expertise. I understand why but they are different things.

The issue about disabled helpers is a prime example of something that should be covered in a user guide. Is it?
  • Was this supposed to be for season ticket holders only this period?  I'm a bit concerned now that I don't have an ST and might get the ticket taken away again .....  :s
Seats not belonging to season ticket holders have been on general sale all week and this process has not ended... it's just that the supply of them is now dependent on someone cancelling/replacing such tickets and dropping them back into the general pool.

Season ticket holders' seats can also be purchased now, but only by the holders. Until Friday 11am that is - when any unsold will be added to the general sale.

The wording from the club suggests no tickets are on general sale at present but this isn't the case.

Ok, I stand to be corrected if this is the case. But that is not what has been put out by the club (as confirmed by @clive earlier) and not my experience when logging on periodically through the day......about half a dozen times today so far. All I see is a stadium map all greyed out. Not once since Tuesday have I seen a single seat available.....and probably logged on over 30 times since then.

    As I said......its probably me.

And PS. I am thankful for the offers of tickets that people on here have generously said that they will purchase for me. Perhaps part of me doesn't want to be sitting next to someone who them knows who I am. Not really wanting to be "outed" iyswim....😄.
  • And PPS.

My gripe isnt really about not being able to buy a ticket......iI'm pretty certain I'lm be able to get one tomorrow. Its more about all the fuss that has been made by ST holders buying tickets in other areas & then wanting to change them for their own seats once all the panic died down and therefore delaying all the non ST holders from buying theirs.

I am part of the silent majority......just don't like being silent !

Just to clarify (and not dig out), this means you would have been able to buy them if you'd been lucky and logged on when some were released. Just a luck thing at that point. Hope you are able to get one tomorrow
  • I’ve logged on a couple of times this week just to look and once a ticket did pop up and I put it in my basket for @golfie but when I went to check out it said ‘seat unavailable’. It’s very much hit and miss and you could log on a number of times and not get lucky. Personally I think less than 500 will be released at 11am tomorrow as most season ticket holders who bought elsewhere have now got there own seat sorted and as the released one has become available it’s been snapped up.

I think more will be free as a large number will have simply been satisfied with the seats they did get - especially if buying for a few extra friends/family to attend with them.

I’d be surprised if it’s a sell out early tomorrow. I note the club haven’t said how many sold all week for some reason.
